My experience has been nothing but stressful, unsafe, and costly, and I want to warn others before they go through the same situation. My storage unit was robbed, and despite filing a claim with their insurance partner, ClaimsPro, my claim was denied because "there was no visible forced entry." This makes absolutely no sense, considering the access code and lock were provided by the facility--so anyone with internal access could enter without leaving damage. Yet they refuse to acknowledge that possibility. After the theft, I discovered alarming issues that the Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce confirmed they have received multiple complaints about, including: Customers being charged more than the agreed monthly rate The main entrance door often left unlocked, leaving the entire facility wide open No staff on site to assist customers or address safety concerns These are serious security failures for a place responsible for protecting people's belongings. I personally reported issues with accessing my unit back on August 30, 2025, and the company even issued me a credit because they acknowledged the problem. Yet when my belongings went missing, they took no responsibility. I removed all my belongings on November 15, 2025, and I will never use this facility again. I am also disputing the charges they continued to take from my account after the theft.

I rented a unit before driving across country to pick up a load and bring back. When I got there they had not replaced the broken latch, had a lock on it that the code they gave me didn't work on, and there is no human being by phone or internet to speak with. So I rented one at a better place. $$$ down the drain. Never even entered the unit. These people are thieves. Now they are saying I owe more money a month later.

Amanda set it up in less than 10 minutes. They had great introductory promo pricing. They replaced the door on one of our units which somewhat alarmed us. They sent an email, but my husband isn't great about checking his email. So, when we went in, the unit had been accessed and we hadn't known. Also, the drainage in the alleys was a little awkward to maneuver around with a 26' moving van, but everything remained secure and dry. These were clearly all decisions on the corporate level. Amanda, who runs this particular location, was always friendly and helpful. SmartStop is lucky to have her!
