America has made it very apparent that you should be in a hospital and to not deliver there makes you stupid or naive. I can never thank Simona enough for making it all possible. Upon being faced by strict medical practices, I decided I wanted to empower my own path and sought out a team that would support me in a more traditional, kind, loving and supportive environment... which lead me to LA Midwives. Some of my favorite experiences were being asked, "what do you feel is best," "how can we support you," "what is your end line," "how are you, your husband and first born?" AND "what would you like to achieve in your pregnancy?" From questions like these throughout my pregnancy, I felt empowered, supported and confident in my ability as a woman. Naomi, Aleks and Atoosa are a team built on strong platform of helping to guide and empower you during your pregnancy. They also have a plethora of wisdom, from habits to nutrition and medical professionals, which also makes you feel so very much supported and confident during your pregnancy and finally, at the time of your birth. I cannot recommend them enough, to every woman, either trying to conceive or during their pregnancy, to join forces with LA Midwives so that they may also experience the pregnancy we deserve as the strong and powerful women we are. Thank you LA Midwives for providing me with such a strong birth team, that at 40 with hypertension, I was able to really experience my birth and feel empowered to do. Eternally Thankful.

From the very beginning, Naomi, Atoosa, and Aleksandra walked beside me through every step of this journey with a level of care, presence, and intention that is beyond anything I could have imagined. Every appointment, every conversation, every moment of reassurance felt deeply personal and thoughtful. They didn't just provide care -- they created an environment where I felt educated, empowered, and truly supported as a mother. The way they show up for women is something incredibly special. If I could give 1,000 stars, I would without hesitation. What moved me most was witnessing women supporting women in the most powerful way. Their passion for birth, for education, and for honoring mothers inspired me so deeply that it made me want to be part of the birth world myself. That's the kind of impact they have. I get emotional writing this because I already know how much I'm going to miss them. They weren't just my midwives -- they became mentors, guides, and genuine friends through one of the most sacred seasons of my life. My family will forever be grateful for Naomi and her incredible team. And without a doubt, when the time comes for our next baby, there is nowhere else I would go.

Having Lexie's support in those early months was an absolute game changer. Her presence was grounding, nurturing, and exactly what I needed during such a tender and transformative time. Lexie helped me prioritize self-care in ways I didn't even know I needed. She created a calming sound bath for me and my baby, prepared beautiful healing foot baths, and would sit with Auggie while I took long, uninterrupted naps (which felt like heaven!). She also supported me with meal prep, grocery runs, and gently helped me navigate the emotional load of transitioning to life with two little ones. What made the biggest difference was how she showed up not just as a helper, but as a true support system. She was a compassionate sounding board as I figured out new routines, set boundaries with visitors, and restructured our family life. Her postpartum care was beyond valuable--it was priceless. Beyond that, she taught me invaluable skills and tools to start sleeping through the night with the babies asap. She was generous with answers to burning questions when I was unsure about something. She was intuitive, patient, kind, respectful and thoughtful. At each visit she was able to anticipate ever changing needs, and also came prepared with a new pearl of wisdom for my family. She even helped to curate a team of day and night experts to help with the shifts when she needed a break. We ended up needing to switch OB-GYNs in my 39th week and Melanie was supportive and helped talk us through that decision, which ended up being the best decision we could have made. We had Melanie stay on postpartum for a couple of weeks to help with baby's sleep and care and although we have been lucky to have a good sleeper, that extra set of hands at night was super helpful for us to get some recovery and a great start to parenthood.

Sadly, I cannot speak to Kate's abilities with regard to the birthing process, since she was…read morealready booked for my due date. I am, however, able to discuss her nature, her knowledge, and her dedication. I suffer from a rare condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. It's a condition that had me hospitalized on three occasions, and on bed rest for six months. I lost my job, I was unable to connect with friends and family, I was too sick to speak, and I was on anti-nausea meds that kept me asleep or too groggy to think most of the day. To compound matters, I'm fairly new to LA and didn't have the social resources to help me through that incredibly difficult time. When I finally emerged from the fog, a friend recommended I research doulas for additional support, which is how I found Kate. When reaching out and explaining my situation, other doulas were "all business." Most let me know they were already booked, and explained that I should have researched doulas earlier (thank you for your wisdom). Kate was the exception that took note of my difficult situation and all but rushed to my rescue. While she was already booked for my due date, she reached out to her vast doula community to help me find someone who was a good fit. Because of my condition and the after-effects of being in solitary confinement for six months, my needs are high--and specific. So, helping me find another doula was no small feat. Kate also set me up with a slew of other resources to help me manage the mental and physical stress I had been going through. She also welcomed me into her new mom community, which seems to be exclusively made up of kind, cool, welcoming women. Kate has been nothing short of a Godsend to me. It's hard to express in a Yelp review just how desperate I was to feel supported. Somehow, in my six sentence inquiry email that was overlooked by a handful of other doulas, Kate saw through the fog and saw a woman in need. I am eternally grateful to her and anyone would be lucky to have her on their side.

I wasn't sure I was going to have a Doula the second time around. I felt that my husband and I already had a pretty solid birth partnership and because it was going to be a home birth we'd have lots of constant support from our midwife and her assistant. When we decided we wanted the extra love/care, we knew Kate should be that person. Perhaps what stands out most in my memory of Kate on that day is how she seemed to know exactly what was needed in each given moment. As a Doula myself, I'm aware that each birth is unique as is every couple and family. Sometimes a Doula needs to be very hands on, and sometimes not as much - more as a supportive presence in the room from a distance. Kate just totally took our cues and because of my husband and my relationship, because we'd done this before and because it was a shorter and easier labor...we did a lot of it on our own. But in the moments I needed Kate and didn't even know it, I'd look over and there she was - whispering the most perfect motivating and inspirational words in my ear, or massaging my neck and shoulders with lavender oil. I feel honored to have Kate in my life. It is clear that supporting new families is her true calling, and I can say from experience that any couple considering using her services will most definitely have a more peaceful and positive prenatal, birth and/or postpartum experience with Kate by their side.
