We found the prices realistic for what was on offer. We got complimentary poppadoms and three dips - a vivid spiced red onion, so we deduce lots of artificial food colour here, a sweet mango chutney pulp and a yellow coloured yoghurt dip. This was a nice touch. We had starters of seekh kebab, again red food colour seemed plentiful, and a prawn poori - the portions were generous and very tasty. The fried poori bread was really light and crisp when it came out with the prawn portion generous. Again red food colour featured. We chose chicken tikka masala and king prawn butter tikka masala mains. I had 8 plump tasty king prawns really delicious. Neither of the mains sauces seemed to have any food colour and both were fairly sweet for western tastes. We had a pilau rice which had food colour and a peshwari nan which was grim. I had a delicious mango lassi and my wife had Diet cokes. Fair play that the cokes were 330 ml cans rather than the rip off miniatures which I'm now starting to reject in restaurants. There were two downsides - the nan bread was not nan bread, it was more like a pizza base and a poor one at that, so clearly this place doesn't have a tandoor oven. The second was that they didn't take credit cards - it could have all ended in tears and this depleted our cash. As far as I'm concerned they should have a sign up saying no credit card facility so as we would have opted to go elsewhere.

After much searching online, we found the details of this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We made a quick call, to make a reservation for that evening. We later found out that the establishment is also a Bed & Breakfast, something that we will remember when we return to the area. In the town of Belturbet, at the top of the Main Street the road bends to the right towards Cavan and Dublin, rather than following the road to the right, go straight on and you will see the marina on your left. Follow this road out of Belturbet for around 5 miles and we found the restaurant on the left, up a brightly lit driveway. Upon arriving at the restaurant, set in the beautiful County Cavan countryside, we were greeted by comfortable and appealing furnishings and the aroma of spices. We availed of the Christmas Menu meal deal, this included four courses and a glass of wine or beer for just €25 each. Each course was beautifully presented and the food was obviously freshly prepared, as it tasted superb. The couple that run the place were very welcoming and friendly and there was a great and relaxing atmosphere throughout our visit. We really enjoyed our night here and wouldn't hesitate to return. The welcome was friendly, seating comfy and it didn't take long to get a drinks order served. My wife opted for a chicken shashlik with rice which came with a sauce that was quite astringent, almost as if some vinegar had been added. The sauce was well flavoured but it didn't suit my wife's palate although I liked it. The rice was perfectly cooked. I ordered a butter paneer dish with a Peshwari nan. It was a very tasty main, I did enjoy the paneer and my wife enjoyed my sauce more than her own as it was sweeter. The only thing missing, that I expected to find, was green peas and only because they are always in this dish when I order it. Their absence didn't affect the dish, I was just surprised not to get them. The only disappointment was the peshwari nan as the filling was so thin we simply couldn't detect any of the flavours we expected but given the price I wouldn't drop a star. My advice is put the price up a bit and put in some more filling. Our friends enjoyed their dishes but I only recall one main - chicken biryani with the same 'sour' sauce and a garlic nan.
