Extremely Disappointed - Unsafe Room Conditions & Poor Management…read moreWe stayed at Holiday Inn Express Van Buren-Ft Smith Area in July 2025, and it was an incredibly frustrating experience. We booked two rooms, but one had no working air conditioning, with 97° weather outside and even hotter inside, it was completely uninhabitable. We had an infant with us, and when we asked for help at the front desk, we were told no other rooms were available. So, our entire group was forced to squeeze into one room for the night. To make things worse, we checked in just before 2:00 a.m., and housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:15 a.m. because the front desk clerk checked us out 5 minutes after we arrived. The noise woke everyone, including our baby, after a long night of travel. I attempted to resolve this with hotel management. The front desk initially told us the manager would call us, but that call never came. When I called the corporate office myself, the manager argued with me and then hung up. Completely unprofessional. I've now had to dispute the charges with my credit card company because the hotel charged me for both rooms, including the one we could not use. Based on the poor service, unsafe conditions, and total lack of follow-up, I would not have anyone stay here! I expected better from Holiday Inn Express and IHG. I do not recommend this location. After reading several other reviews looks to be the MO for this location! RIP OFF!

Wow, I stayed here four years ago and it's apparently gone downhill big time since then…read more Sad to say that despite the ladies at the front desk being very friendly, the rest of my experience here was awful in April 2025. I booked a non-smoking room and I was placed in a smoking room. The room wreaked of smoke, it was really bad. There were flies in the room and I saw a roach as well. I went to take a shower and the knob fell off. There's shower I had when I stayed here four years ago was a lot nicer. There's not much else you can to say. I usually have good luck with Wyndham properties, but not this time. My advice is to avoid this Super 8.

Walking up the stairs was a different story, now I ain't asking for some amazing place but dang ripped carpet creaky stairs that sound like they're barely holding up and the musty smell just reminded me why I never wear yellow. Tired though I just wanted to get to the room, honestly though I think I'd rather sleep in the lobby. From a stained bed spread, to toenails in the clothing drawers this room hit all the marks stains everywhere and don't worry I included some photos because I was just a bit shocked. I get it it's not the fanciest place but at least give me something clean to sleep on ima try and get some rest and lay some sheets down over everything I just hope they aren't stained either honestly if you can't find a place it might do but look at everything before you lay your head because I don't even want to lay down with my work clothes on and that's saying something honestly was not an enjoyable or even decent stay

One elevator for this 3 story property. Vending and ice machines are near the elevator on each floor. Our King suite has a large 'L' shaped couch by the window, across from the desk area. Everything in good condition. Plenty of hot water. Multi-use products in shower. The room had an 'older building' smell, but was clean. The AC kept the room comfortable with on-wall control, but the system was rather loud when running. The location is close to the highway and far enough away to be quieter. Private lot with handicap spots by the door and a couple of bench seats under the portico. A movie theater is conveniently next door and a few restaurants are within a five minute drive.

Our 1st room was full of black mold, in the bathroom, on the curtains & along the flooring by shower. We were told that some rooms have mold because its been so warm here, it was so bad that theres no way that mold was started a month ago, i would say years worth of build up & that's unexceptable. Asthmatic people beware. We tried breakfast this morning, the fruit looked old & dried up, the waffles were ok

Me, my wife and our 2 small children booked here because it had an 8.2 out of 10 on Expedia and…read moreneeded a place to stay after driving over 1000 miles. We got in about 1030pm. The person at the front desk was nice, but we could tell upon pulling up that the place was dirty. And boy were we right. We got a room (advertised as 2 queens) with 2 full size beds. Ok, no problem, we were tired and I wasn't going to argue. Before we got to the room we saw people arguing out back, people drinking, what we were pretty sure was someone using a needle for drugs. Some shady characters to say the least. We then entered the room and their was a weird smell. Now we know this motel has smoking rooms, but this smell was something else, almost like death. We turned on the lights and bugs scattered (well those that could) because there were several dead roaches on the floor. Both beds had stains on the comforters, and the sheets and bed. Not food stains, but body fluid or blood stains. The fridge was leaking, and the floor was all wet. We weren't staying. We don't know how anyone could stay here. I wouldn't wish this place on people I hate. So, we grabbed our stuff (still packed) and left. We stopped at the front desk with the key and told them that we wouldn't be staying. It wasn't a place for our children. It was dirty, disgusting. Just horrible. The front desk person apologized and told us because we went through Expedia, to contact them and we WOULD GET a full refund (which was a lie because the manager said "not happening.") So, in closing, and in my most honest hope and opinion, this place should be shut down by the Arkansas Board of Health, then burned down. I'd give it a 0 if I could. DONT. EVER. STAY. HERE.

Got in late, so no pictures. Very clean, housekeeping was definitely good. Wyndham Downtown - Fort Smith…read more A pleasant stay experience. Friendly staff. Hotel offers 255 Rooms & Suites. EXTERIOR: The hotel offers parking onsite and on the streets, front and back. If you are staying here for a convention, the Fort Smith Convention Center is located right next door and can be accessed from the outside of the hotel or the inside. If you're staying at the hotel, the easiest way to access the Convention Center is go past the breakfast area through the glass doors. LOBBY: The lobby is large and grand when you enter. The Check-In Desk is on the right side of the entrance. The lobby is spacious and offers plenty of seating places to lounge around. It was nice and clean. My only thing I would have to say is it has a strange water chemical smell when you first walk in. But, once you go past the elevators you notice a nice waterfall. ROOM: My King Room was really nice, spacious and clean. I spent two nights here. My bed was very comfortable and sheets were clean. Pillows were comfortable too. The only thing this room did not have was a microwave or fridge. It was not a big deal with me because I ate out at Thai Curry Restaurant that was five-minute walk. They have really good Authentic Thai Cuisine. If you are staying long term at some of the rooms, be mindful that your room may not have a fridge and microwave. Always double check with front desk and depending on how busy the hotel is, you may be able to get a different room to accommodate you the best. BATHROOM: I really liked the bathroom. It had a beautiful LED Vanity Mirror with decent countertops space. My shower was double glass doors, stand up shower and no issues. The shower water pressure was good. They offered generous amounts of towels. If you need more, the front desk was very friendly, no fuss and helpful when I needed more. BREAKFAST: Breakfast is available as a separate cost or with your room rate. When you check in, you will receive breakfast coupons for the number of days of your stay. Breakfast buffet is only offered when the hotel is busy with larger events. I stayed here when it was less people, so I was not able to take advantage of their breakfast buffet. First morning, I ordered House Omelette - Sausage & Cheese Omelette with house potatoes and wheat toast. It was very delicious and generous portion that I couldn't finish it. The service was fast and friendly. The second morning I ordered, House Omelette - Bacon and Cheese with house potatoes. I did not receive toast, nor was I asked if I wanted toast. Compared to the first morning, the waitress was more friendlier and curtious. The waiter on my second morning was decent but I felt he lacked customer service. FITNESS & WIFI: I was able to get a workout done at their Fitness Center. It was spacious and the equipment is provided by Life Fitness. WiFi through the room and hotel worked good, not great. OVERALL: I had a nice experience and enjoyed my stay. The front desk staff were nice and everyone else I came in contact with. I would certainly stay here again. It does have some things that are dated, but I'm ok with it, as long as they keep up the cleanliness on it. I would recommend this hotel if you're visiting Fort Smith.
