Our visit was more than we imagined, highly recommended!! Thank you for making our 10th wedding anniversary memorable!! L&L

Sherri, the innkeeper, took great care of us and made delicious breakfasts that accommodated my celiac disease (gluten free). She was really friendly and we enjoyed chatting with her. What we saw of the building (our room, the hallway, and the dining room) was clean, spacious, and charming. We especially enjoyed the separate entrance for the Ducournau Suite and the huge jacuzzi tub. The B&B is mere blocks from Front Street and the Cane River Lake waterfront, so we spent much of our visit walking around that area. I definitely recommend a ride on the Cane River Queen to see the Christmas lights if you're visiting during the Christmas season! Nachitoches is a charming town and I know we'll be back someday... Keep driving past all the chain hotels/motels by the interstate and pick a place closer to the main strip of shops and restaurants. We were personally greeted by the owners upon arrival. For the first time EVER staying at a B&B, we were allowed to select our rooms from the ones available by visiting each open room. We've probably stayed at 15 B&Bs and nobody has ever let us snoop into all the open rooms (they're usually locked). The owner visited with us on the back screened-in porch for a few minutes before letting us get settled in. The rooms are all tastefully decorated in shabby chic decor with crisp white spreads and linens. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with a shower stall and basket full of fresh, white towels. The bed was SUPER comfortable and we had the best night's sleep of our entire 8-day trip. Breakfast was served promptly at 8:30 am and the owner sat down to enjoy the meal with us. We really enjoyed hearing stories and getting a bit of local culture - it's the best part of traveling. If we're ever in the area again (and we hope to be sometime soon), we'll come back to the Creole Cottage. This would be a great place for several couples to stay and have some privacy but also access to the common areas (dining room and back porch where they stock a mini-fridge with bottled water). The folks at the Creole Cottage treated us like family, and we felt like we'd walked into the pages of Southern Living magazine. Hint: be sure to try the "mayhaw" jelly - it's a local favorite and delicious! We had it on buttered biscuits along with eggs, thick cut bacon, grits, fresh fruit and hot coffee. Perfection!

I travel a lot for work, including numerous in-state travel days a year. I often find myself in this class of hotel since only larger cities have higher tier hotels. My requirements for hotels in this tier are that they are clean, quiet, have friendly staff, and are convenient to the highway. A decent free breakfast is lagniappe. This location hits most of those pretty solidly. I arrived late in the afternoon and had to leave pretty early, so my stay was limited. My room was large and comfortable with all of the necessary amenities. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, minus flat pillows (why oh why do hotels have trash pillows). The staff was friendly, although my interaction was limited to check in. The room was a little louder than I am accustomed to, but it was a first floor, parking lot adjacent room, which may have been to blame. I slept well, and the breakfast was decent, but since it was free, it added a couple of points. If you are looking for this type of hotel along your journey, this is a good place to pick.
