The positive: it's located in a really convenient location just a block from historic first street. The sports hall of fame is just across the street. The rooms are fairly large and clean. The hvac in the rooms worked. The courtyard looked nice. The parking near the hotel was nice and the overflow parking is on the next lot. Did i mention location? Breakfast was hot and fresh - eggs, grits, sausage, toast, juice, coffee, and yogurt. The server greeted us with a smile. The negative: on our first room the lock was broken. We requested another. The hallways were really stuffy and hot. They did not have comforters(bigger, thicker comforters. . They have thin blankets - which we had to go for to fetch extra of... (they did not bring up). Front desk staff wasn't overly friendly. Neutral: we didn't try the bar. We'd probably come again. Just don't have too high of expectations. It was reasonably priced. The owners should read the book Outrageous Hospitality. With a few adjustments this place could be incredible. read more

This is my first negative review ever! I was raised that if you can't say something nice... Stayed here last Christmas. Hotel was tired but location was good. Booked 2 suites again for April of this year and the hotel agent called a few weeks before our arrival and said they needed to put us in a regular room due to a group coming in. Same price but we're easy and just liked their location enough to agree to the changes. Now, less than a week to go and they've cancelled our reservations for... another group! Who does this? Looks can definitely be deceiving. When we first arrived, I thought, "What a cute little hotel!" on the outside. Unfortunately, that impression vanished the moment we checked in. After our experience, I'm honestly not surprised by the terrible reviews on here. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We stayed for just one night in 2022 on our way to New Orleans, and it remains the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Check-in was fine, but when we got to our room, we pulled back the blankets and found Cheetos dust and what appeared to be pubic hair in the bed. Completely unacceptable. It was clear they didn't change the bedding after the last guests. After we complained, someone came up to change the bedding but it took a couple of hours which caused us being delayed at exploring the very cute and charming city. She was on her phone the entire time, dressed in what looked like pajamas, and didn't greet or acknowledge us once. She just changed the sheets while chatting on her phone which was beyond unprofessional. Later that evening, we went down to the bar, where the bartender actually got MAD at me for asking for a clean wine glass after handing me one with lipstick prints still on it. The attitude alone was enough to make me want to leave right then. He was severely dramatic in dealing with it. On top of all that, the bed was uncomfortable and bouncy, the room smelled strongly of mildew, and the entire stay just felt grimy and unpleasant. I still think about how miserable that night was ... it honestly gave "never again" energy. A lot more happened during that one-night stay, but honestly, I'll leave it at that. I can't say for sure because I had no proof, but I felt like we were being watched all night, and between that and the bed, I barely got a wink of sleep. To make matters worse, the hotel staff was impossible to reason with when we tried to address our concerns while there and tried to call us liars about the dirty bed even though there was visual proof... The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. They even upgraded our room to a big suite But unfortunately, the bed was horrible! The mattress sank towards the middle, made noise and I could tell it was just old & WORN OUT! The shower splashed water all over the bathroom since there's nothing to stop the water at the bottom. This is a slipping hazard that I think should be corrected. No matter how much we tried to control the air conditioner the temperature remain freezing throughout the whole stay. This is better than staying hot, but still uncomfortable. I think this hotel stays booked because of its location, not because of its comfort. read more

The door jam was missing the strike plate Maintenance needs to improve. Check in was easy and the staff was courteous. The power went out early the morning we left but they managed to serve a hot breakfast of grits, eggs and sausage. There was no emergency back up lighting and we had to use the light on our phones to walk down the stairs as we were on the 4th floor. read more

DO NOT BOOK HERE! Not sure if it's new management, but I've never been so disappointed in an experience. $200, couldn't check in on time due to "circumstances", which we were understanding about. Things happen. However upon getting to our room the door wouldn't shut, unable to safely lock the door- and were greeted with "I'm sorry, nothing can be done and management isn't here until morning"... unacceptable. We ended up sitting in that room for about 10 minutes and deciding to just drive home because it was disgusting and unsafe. No offer of a refund so we could possibly get a different hotel room. No call back from management even though I requested a call multiple times, requested an 800 # to possibly contact ANYONE who could make a difference. Would never recommend this hotel, but going as far to say I will absolutely make it a point to make sure everyone knows how much I DO NOT recommend it. I'd first like to thank Misty the Hotel's housekeeping manager for trying her very best to accommodate me and everything she came up with which actually made plenty of sense was shot down... I booked a room on booking.com "3rd party site" before booking I called to ensure I was in fact booking the correct room as the hotel & 3rd party site wasn't really clear on the description of the room. I booked a junior king suite being I needed a private bedroom with a door. Upon arriving I was just thrown in a 1 king bedroom. That wasn't going to work being I needed 2 beds. I was offered a rollaway bed & 50% off my room. I still needed a door for privacy. As I had my 12year old traveling with us. Misty found a clean room of what I booked but for whatever reason I couldn't get that Empty Clean Room... When it was time for my husband to set up the rollaway bed, my daughter sat down and it literally folded into an "L" shape.... After all of the back & forth we were tired she end up putting 2 chairs together to sleep in... Go to breakfast the next morning to find out 2 other couples were also given rooms they didn't want which could have technically been solved amongst us 3 because we could have switched rooms... Misty & all of her staff as well as the kitchen staff is Phenomenal and willing to provide issue resolution at any & ALL COST However I can't say that about the front desk which is sad because that is the first encounter‼ This could really be a great place to stay outside of whom is responsible for the room assignments and The front desk personnel ‼ I was told by front desk 3rd party site isn't accurate with their room availability. Upon arrival, it was immediately noticeable that the overall condition of the hotel was below par. The hallways to the rooms were nasty, smelled unclean and looked dirty, creating an unwelcoming first impression--not just for us, but also for our out-of-town guests who were traveling with us. I chose this hotel because of the location and descriptions provided on your website. We were having an event at the event center, and this hotel provided the option of being located directly across, which made it easier for out-of-town guest. Inside the room, the bedding was both torn, stained and dirty, the air conditioner leaked water on the floor daily, the shower also appeared unclean, with dirty badly stained flooring in the shower making it difficult to feel comfortable during our stay. The room keys would not work at times, and we had to continually go to have new keys made. Upon check in the rooms were not ready. Some on my out of town guest had to be checked in without the proper bedding on the bed, others had their air conditioning go completely out. I want to acknowledge that the staff present were doing the best they could under the circumstances, and working very hard with the resources provided to them to address what they could. Their professionalism and efforts were appreciated. Your manger Felicia was exceptional in trying to help and make adjustments to what she was able to. Overall, the experience did not reflect the value of what we paid, nor did it align with the image of a hotel in such a prime location. Extremely Disappointed After Years of Loyalty Stay Dates: May 14-16, 2025 I was in town for my daughter's college graduation--a milestone moment for our family--and unfortunately, my stay at the Saint Denis Hotel was a major letdown. I've stayed at this property multiple times over the past five years while my daughter attended school in Natchitoches, and it was always a reliable place to stay. Sadly, that's no longer the case. I had specifically booked adjoining rooms because I was assisting in the care of my elderly mother, who has serious lung issues, and my nine-month-old grandson. Despite this clear and important request, the hotel did not honor the adjoining room reservation. When I expressed concern, the compensation offered was far from satisfactory considering the inconvenience and the health-related importance of the request. Worse still, I was told the general manager, Naomi Jones, would contact me regarding this issue. She never did. I made multiple attempts to get in touch with her myself, but she was completely unresponsive. The general manager was also unresponsive during an earlier visit this year when I couldn't access my room until 6:30 PM because it still hadn't been cleaned. She never returned my calls about that situation either. On a more positive note, Malarie at the front desk and on-site manager Eboni were both kind and tried to be helpful within the limits of their roles. They were the only bright spots in an otherwise frustrating experience. It's truly disappointing to see the quality of service decline at what used to be a nice place to stay. Great location, close to downtown. Reasonably clean, staff was competent. This hotel wants badly be upscale but is the Walmart version of upscale. Finishes look nice at a distance but are junk when you look closer. Christmas decorations were anemic despite that being the reason this place is full at the moment. Room was okay not great. Bathroom door was broken and didn't close, and the door to our room had to be forced closed every time. Walls are thin, could hear the neighbor's TV and kids talking in the hallway. Bed had a sheet and coverlet but no quilt or blanket. Temperature was all over the place and nearly impossible to control. No carpet anywhere in the room, just cheap vinyl plank. Free breakfast was barely worth the price. If you have other options, I would recommend using them. read more

My husband and I have used Hotel St Denis as our halfway stopping point from North Texas to South Louisiana several times a year. Since last October (2023) we have noticed that the quality, customer service and cleanliness has become sub-par. We have found dirty towels hanging in our bathroom, used soap containers in the shower, wall tape coming from the ceiling, luggage carts that have no air in the tires, room door that does not secure. This has always been our fav place to stay because of its location but not anymore. This makes me sad. read more

A few days ago, I updated my review from a few years ago. I'm about to check out and the review needs to be updated again. Both elevators are out of order and the front desk clerk this morning (0450 hrs 08/01/2025) was unhelpful, rude, and couldn't be bothered to help me determine if the stairwell exits were properly lit and if the one-sided doors were propped open. When I initially came down, the stairwell exited into a pitch dark room, so I chose another door to exit, which exited outside to a pitch dark alcove (not safe for single females). The WiFi only worked two times out of the 5 days I was here. This hotel is so poorly managed that I will be shocked if it doesn't fall apart (literally) in the next couple of months. Well, gotta go get dressed in business attire, then lug ALL of my belongings 4 floors down an unairconditioned stairwell, taking no less than 2 trips, so I can show up at my clients office looking like a deranged, sweaty mess. read more

Was with my MIL and carrying both of our luggage and got on the elevator with 2 employees, one was a man who even got off on the same floor as our room with us and never offered to help carry our luggage even tho I was quite obviously struggling to carry it all. The floor of our room was sticky from too much soap. The desk clerks were more interested in what was on their phones than the lobby full of guests trying to check in. A bottle of Dasani was $5. And at breakfast they ran out of food before everyone was served. I might add that the hotel was pretty booked for our event of over 200 ppl and they knew we were coming a year in advance. The overflow lot is not obviously marked and out of the way and feels a little unsafe. The outside patio is interesting. The walls are paper thin and noise goes through them like butter. The inside of the room looks a bit dirty, including the sink. The floors could also use some sweeping or mopping. read more

Cannot recommend this location in any way. 1- Within 2hrs of checking in, another couple used their keys to enter our room. When we left for dinner, our keys no longer functioned. While rekeying them, we asked how the other couple was able to enter our room. The desk went said the woman gave her the wrong room number. Didn't verify name. Just took room number from her. 2- the soap dispenser in the shower was empty. When we checked out, the guest in front of us told the desk agent the soap dispenser was empty in his room, as well. 3- the first morning of our stay, a gentleman attempted to enter our room. 4- despite the housekeeper being in the room adjacent to ours & hanging the sign "Please service", nothing was done for our room. Our second stay here at Chateau Saint Denis was during the Meat Pie Festival 2018. Our first stay was during July 4, 2017. This charming hotel is designed with a French Quarter theme with modern updates. Check-in was crowded at 5pm on a Friday of Meat Pie Festival weekend! The carport was packed and we waited our turn. There is limited parking in the adjacent parking lot and they offer two other parking lots. This visit we had to park in parking lot B about 1-1/2 blocks away. Free breakfast is over at 10am which allowed for some sleeping-in. The waffle maker has flur de luis! Checkout at 12pm is firm. We enjoyed our 2nd stay & will return! read more

This was our first time staying at your hotel, and I don't think it will be our last. The room was beautiful, and very clean. Loved th hardwood floors. The outside patio was nice and clean. We visited the bar and the cocktails were well made. The only issue we had was that once our room was cleaned, our towels, toilet paper and floor mat were not replenished, but the crew was super nice and apologetic and immediately refilled the Toilet paper and gave us fresh towels. We understood, it was a beautiful day and I think there was only one person working on our floor. A plastic souvenir cup that was on the table/desk was also thrown away; we were a little disappointed about that but that will not keep us from coming back. We only had breakfast on our last day, it was hot and fresh. The small fitness room was a definite PLUS, after all the good food, one needs to do a little workout before starting over.. The convenience of being able to park our car and walk to the shops and restaurants on front street, and down on the river bank and enjoy the festival was so nice, I don't think we will ever stay at another hotel when visiting Natchitoches in the future. We were victims of theft by someone that is employed at this hotel. We left our rooms in the morning and when we returned our keys would not work for one of our rooms. When we were able to gain access, we discovered that our child's wallet had been stolen and his things gone through. When front desk staff was alerted, they were slow to act so I called the local police and filed a report. As we waited in the lobby for police it was observed that several other guests key would not work as well. I hope they did not suffer the same fate we did. read more

I've stayed at this hotel several times mainly because it's centrally located near my family. However, it seems each time I stay, I later regret it. The floors are filthy, the sheets are stained, and the staff and management don't seem to care. After my last stay, I told Management about the uncleanliness of my room along with a staff issue. We're in town for a wedding and this hotel was across the street. From the outside, it's looks adorable and great. Great location, great curb appeal, featured in Southern Living, the works. Paper thin sheets with HOLES, super thin throw as a comforter, a king size bed with two pillows (we asked the front desk for more and they were out) only two towels ( stayed here with my wife and as most women do, use a towel for their hair and one for their body) and a lack luster front desk attendant. When asking about extra pillows or towels (not something I would deem unreasonable) it seemed as though we were asking too much. All of this, generally speaking, wouldn't procure a one star review but throw in bed bugs and you've hit the jackpot for deplorable hotel experiences. read more

This is a terrible place to stay. The parking is atrocious, the unloading is only for one car and the luggage carriers are worn out. The breakfast was awful and the overall ability of the staff is questionable. I paid 400 dollars for two nights and I would have been better served by Motel 6. There was no fridge or microwave and we had to put our luggage on the floor or the bed as there was no luggage holder in the room. We had a visitor in the night which was a mouse. There was one small bar of soap in the bathroom and plenty of dust for everyone. I won't be back and for that kind of money you might get an extra night in a best western inn. First time I stayed here in 2019, I noticed that the entire place smelled like PineSol from the minute I walked through the door. The second thing I noticed was that it was odd in these very large guest rooms for there not to be a side chair where the guest can sit and read or just relax without sitting on the bed. I am now back in 2022 for my second stay and both of those conditions are still the same. The scent of PineSol is overwhelming, almost enough to make me feel sick. And still no chair in the room other than the uncomfortable desk chair. There's a lamp there just begging for a chair to be placed next to it. read more

In order that we could all be together, a large contingent of us overtook this new 89 room hotel rather than a olio of several B&Bs. After a first day of exhausting Catholic rituals we all looked forward to a sound night's sleep before the next day's equally exhausting mass and interment. However, not one of us could abide the rock hard beds at Chateau St. Denis. Worse every time you'd rest your head on the long foam pillows the other side obnoxiously popped up! GOOD COMP BREAKFAST, RIDICULOUS GYM Following a long stress-relieving morning run along the Cane I attempted to get a light workout at the "gym". Impossible. Four cardio machines and a pulley stand were crammed heel-to-toe in a 100 sqf area (see pic). Even 2 people felt wedged. But the gratis scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt and apple juice selections from the dining area were of good quality. read more

(they didn't run out, I asked and she simply said they didn't carry any), Could clearly hear our neighbor taking a shower, blowing his/her nose, enjoying their music. We were looking forward to staying at this hotel. Unfortunately, things went south for us the moment we arrived. We checked in around 8:30-8:45pm which is not typically a busy time, and it wasn't at the front desk. There was no attendant at the desk, and after several minutes as I was about to call the hotel on my cell phone, someone showed up. But, there were no luggage carts in the lobby. The girl at the desk said people must have them in their rooms. We waited about 5 minutes or so while maintenance was going to check each floor to find them. There were none to be found, so we ended up making multiple trips up and down to get our belongings to our room. In addition, the Kleenex dispenser was empty, and we had go to the front desk to retrieve a box. The next morning, we arrived at breakfast to find that there was one packet of jelly left for the biscuits. We were told they were waiting on a shipment. With it being Memorial Day weekend, we knew we wouldn't see any more jelly during our stay, and we didn't. Before leaving the hotel to explore downtown, we told the desk we'd like to have our room cleaned, soaps and shampoo/conditioner refilled, and towels replenished. When we returned about 4:00, our room was as it had been before. We inquired about housekeeping service and were told our room would be cleaned. When we left to go out again at 6:00, we spoke with the front desk, and we were assured our room would be taken care of. When we returned about 9:15, our room had not been touched. A call again to the front desk confirmed our room would not be cleaned after all. Towels could be delivered to our room, or we could come downstairs and get some along with soap, shampoo and conditioner. There was no manager on duty to speak with, but we were assured she would be there the following morning at 9:00. The next day, we went down for breakfast about 30-40 minutes before it ended. There was no sausage or gravy available, and the staff told us it was because it was so close to the end of breakfast hours. Grits, scrambled eggs, and biscuits were the only offerings in the steamers. We could have had the typical fix it yourself items of toast, bagels, pancakes and cold cereal, but they were out of jelly and peanut butter. We were able to get a luggage cart to take our belongings down, but the manager had not arrived by 10:00am. We packed our belongings and took them downstairs, but the manager still had not shown by 11:00. When we asked for a receipt, we were not able to get one due to the fact that we booked through a third party. There was no mention of any kind of refund or discount due to the lack of housekeeping services. While the staff person on duty did write down our name, email and phone number, we don't have much confidence that we will hear from them. The rooms here were well appointed with the exception of the floors. They were vinyl, wood look planks, and they felt dirty/sticky if walking barefoot across them. When taking a shower, there were dirty footprints on the floor of the shower where we entered. The shower had dispensers for the soaps, etc. as seems to be the new normal in many hotels which is not a problem. Our problem was that none were labeled, so we had to figure out what was what. In addition, the body wash was empty. This hotel was described as a boutique hotel in the historic section of town. We typically think of boutique hotels as nice accommodations. We did not feel that way at all after staying here. It was a huge disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel at all. read more
