This is the best of the local Motel 6 hotels in the New London CT area. The rooms are large & very clean. The surrounding grounds are grassy & expansive so it's fantastic for people with dogs. The staff are pleasant, helpful & efficient. There is an ice machines, 2 drink & 1 vending machine off the lobby. The hotel wasn't overly crowded & the other guests were very respectful, quiet & clean. (I have stayed at other area pet friendly hotels the past few years but they have been overrun recently by loud, obnoxious, disrespectful & ill behaved customers. There's drug use & all night partying. That got extremely old very quickly). I moved to the Motel 6 Niantic & I am extremely happy I did. I will definitely stay here anytime I am in the area & I will recommend it's to others. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED! read more

Paid for a smoking room. When we got there the heat was not working, called the front desk and they said they only had a non smoking room that they could switch us to, I said no because we want a smoking room. They couldn't switch us so we froze all night. The following Monday I called to speak with the manager and never received a call back. This Motel wants your money, but if something doesn't work, THEY DO NOT CARE!!!!! read more

ROACHES IN ROOM!!! Wait til you hear how it happened... Aside from the broken toilet seat, musty smell, and thin, stained, patched up blanket, we had roaches in our room. The staff did nothing and Corporate Motel 6 pretended they cared and then did nothing either. I was eventually offered a $20 credit from the motel and they've ignored all my calls. I will never stay at any Motel 6 ever again (I think we know why they leave the light on now, for roaches). By the way, this is the kind of motel that has long term residents. One confirmed the roach problem. This is the detailed letter I wrote to the board of health; Hello, I am writing to you from my car at Motel 6 in Niantic as I cannot go back into our room. I was awoken by a cockroach crawling on my face as I slept. When I felt something on my face I flung it to the floor. I then grabbed my phone for light and saw it on the ground running away so I squashed it. I then continued to look around and saw two tiny bugs which I also squashed. As I had killed the first bug so quickly, I didn't realize at the time it was a cockroach but then I continued to look around the room and found two more cockroaches. I wasn't able to get a photo because they scattered under the baseboard of the floor too quickly. I immediately went to complain to the overnight desk person and she admitted that they had had complaints about cockroaches before in other rooms. I also noticed a can of bug kill spray in the office as well so obviously they are aware that they have a problem. read more

Last year we had a horrific stay at Motel 6 (see my review for amusement) and subsequently got a voucher for a free night at another location. My husband nearly refused to try another Motel 6 but reluctantly agreed to try one night here. I am extremely pleased to say that it was a night and day difference. Still not a motel with frills of any type but it was clean and more than adequate for a cheap room. Located right off the highway and easy to get to, with several restaurants and bars nearby. If you don't need to sleep in the lap of luxury then try this motel. read more

Motel 6 - Improvised night stand - Hotels Near Me - East Lyme, Connecticut

I wish I could rate this POS lower. I got charged for "holes in the blanket" that were there when I checked in. The room was $90 prior to the charge, $240 total afterwards which is way over priced for such a crummy place. I hope this business fails and something better takes its place. read more

Motel 6 - Motel 6 location - Hotels Near Me - East Lyme, Connecticut

Omg DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL ! . It was once a nice place for a cheap rate but it's gone down hill in the past 6- months and needs SERIOUS ATTENTION !..smelly, dirty floors, extremely bad beds that are all broken down and stink and the sheets are gross and make your skin itch all night, plus the New Management wants TOP DOLLAR for the rooms now and that's madness when they should be reducing their rates for such Terrible conditions! Don't stay here !! Or you'll regret it .Terrible experience read more

I stayed here last night with my boyfriend. We had reserved a room with a queen size bed, and we were given a room with a full sized bed...which isn't too much of a big deal. They renovated all the rooms there. All the rooms now have wood floors...In these newly renovated room, there was no clock. I don't understand that. There was also no soap or shampoo to shower with...another thing I don't understand. When we checked in we were told that the room we were being assigned had a broken towel rack....it also had a static-y tv that was not mentioned to us. read more

Just a terrible rundown property. Way overpriced. Room had flies and the most basic amenities such as shampoo or Kleenex were not offered. I'll never stay at a Motel 6 again. read more

It was gross. I found a cockroach and it was damp. The photos said newly renovated, and it might have been updated but not gutted. Heard loud music at 6 am after a horrible nights sleep thinking bugs were going to crawl out. Woke up to weed being smoked in the parking lot. My bad to even booking but it was deceiving. Only plus the staff at the counter couldn't have been nice. read more

It was cheap very cheap. Now maybe my expectations are to high but it was bad. What I will say is that the rooms had been renovated so the room looked nice and it even smelled clean which is very important. Yes there were some stains on the comforter but it was cheap so what can you expect. The beds were actually comfortable so that was a plus. The part where they really messed up was the fact that they did not clean the room on Saturday. The housekeeper knocked on the door and we told him that we would be leaving in 15min. He said ok I will come back when you guys are gone and we said ok. We went about out business and when we got back to the hotel in the afternoon the beds had been made but the bathroom was not cleaned at all. He did not even give it the ole slap and tickle. We are not messy people but part of the service is to clean up. Now we left a $6 tip for the housekeeper and how it works is you get more everyday based upon the job that is done. At hotels this always does great. We even get extra of everything and the room gets cleaner the longer we are there. I must not understand the motel circuit and how it works. At the very least he could have poured bleach in the toilet and the sink to create an illusion of cleanliness. Oh that's right we left paper in the toilet to see if it would be taken care of and nope it wasn't. iTs the attitude that is the issue for me. I know he went into the bathroom because while he did not take the broken up soap he did put a new nasty bar of soap in the bathroom. Once agin he could have just flushed the toilet etc. So upon checkout today the tip dropped and I will never stay there ever again. read more

Motel 6 - Part of the room - Hotels Near Me - East Lyme, Connecticut

This place is a great deal. The price is about $54 per night including tax on a weekday. It is 15 mins away from Mohegan Sun. I've stayed here several times past 4 yrs when Mohegan Sun is full or isnt offering a free room for me. It is clean, has hbo, basic cable, several towels. Bed is decent . For the price it really can't be beat. Thermostat is quick to cool off or heat up room. Tub is clean. Stores nearby. Stop & shop, fast food , highway 2 blocks ahead. I believe also a laundromat on premises. read more

Stay ANYWHERE ELSE. They don't even have shampoo. There's limited hot water. Also, it's kind of away from the Main Street and doesn't feel safe. And the manager and front desk people were horrible and rude read more

Motel 6 - Yep, that's my door handle. No, it isn't attached The the door. It's been about a half hour since I called the front desk - Hotels Near Me - East Lyme, Connecticut

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean but non-smoking room still had smoky/musty smell all week...I think AC running would bring in the smoke from folks smoking outside the room...or the AC filters need to be changed. Very basic room but spacious. No carpets..."wood" floors. Just enough towels for people in the room, and 2 bars of soap...that's it....no shampoo or any extras. Room did have a fridge and microwave which was helpful...and a TV of course. Decent space for the price and nice that pets are allowed but won't stay here again because too sensitive to the smoky smell in the non-smoking room. read more

We booked a room here for a spur of the moment weekend at the beach. It's a Motel 6, so I wasn't expecting luxury or any amenities, but I was expecting our room to be cleaned during the day, and I did expect there to be enough pillows for all of the beds in the motel! When we asked for two extra pillows, we were brought rough brown blankets and told to roll them under our heads! When we left for the day, we returned at around 4:30pm to a room that was still a mess. Also, our non-smoking room smelled like cigarette smoke. read more

The service was horrible.. The lady at the front desk was rude and snobby! They upgraded to better rooms, the beds where decently comfortable they had an awesome tv that you can hook up your iPhone and it would charge your phone the bathroom didn't have a lock which wasn't a good thing. The room in a whole was very well kept super clean! It was a decent size for two beds. One thing that was upsetting was the pool wasn't open. read more

Motel 6 - The bedroom (minus out air mattress.) - Hotels Near Me - East Lyme, Connecticut

The sheets had long dark hairs on them, and were very wrinkled, luckily I brought my own bedding! The bathroom was semi-clean, luckily I brought my own cleaner! We were on the ground floor and there was quite a bit of noise, luckily I brought my white noise machine! I don't think we will stay here again. read more

For the price, I have to say it isn't half bad. My room was very clean. There were some stains on the bed skirt, but the sheets and coverlet were fine. My only critique was that the sheets were worn and very scratchy and the sheet and coverlet were very lightweight so I couldn't really get comfortable. The location of the hotel is perfect, with easy access to 95. Starbucks across the street, Dunkin down the road and Walgreens/CVS and food stores everywhere. There's no fridge or coffee pot in room, so I got bread, pb and tea to drink and that was fine. Bring your own shampoo, because you only get soap. No frills, but a place to crash. Little bit of riff raff around, but no one bothered me and there's double locks on the doors so I felt safe by myself. I'd stay again for sure! read more

The place is as horrible as the service was . We booked a queen smoking room . When we got there we were put in a "queen" room non smoking . The bed was a full not a queen and it smelt so bad of marijuana that we couldn't even stay . We went through 3 rooms before we asked for a refund . The last room was next to a guy who had a dog that apparently liked squeaky toys . The person at the counter did not seemed fazed at all like this is a normal occurrence and did not even apologize once . Don't waste your time you have been warned read more

I was rather pleased with our stay at this Motel 6. The people at the front desk were talkative, but not annoyingly so and seemed interested in having something to do on a slow weekend (as opposed to some hotels where you seemed to have just disturbed them). They even loaned me some sugar when my husband ran out to the local coffee place and brought none. The room was clean and semi-newly renovated. Even though there was highway noise outside, inside we couldn't hear it at all. A good night sleep was had by all. read more

The service was excellent. Every time I went to the front desk or had an encounter with the staff they were always warm and attentive. I had read reviews before I left so I knew that the hotel only had soap and to bring my own toiletries. The shower was clean and the pressure was excellent and warm. The bed and linens were the only things I had issues with. I could feel the springs in the bed and the linens were scratchy, but then again it's a great deal and a good location. read more

If I could give it negative stars I would . The staff was less than attentive. the bright orange walls and fluorescent lighting you can't adjust leaves much to be desired in comfort. The wood floors and bare walls make everything echo throughout the room. Also the room reeked of nicotine - it was a non smoking room. Putting a sticker on an ashtray saying non smoking doesn't stop someone from smoking. The shower head was cracked and sprayed water all over the bathroom. Definitely not worth the money . read more

We had a very pleasant stay at Motel 6 on three different week ends Freeman who is the general manager made everything so much more easier for us because my husband had a problem being handicapped. I would give Motel Six five stars. Cathie E. read more

Absolute terrible experience staying here. When I went to take a shower there was no hot water. They then sent a maintenance man look into the problem and was told that he had turned up the hot water heater. I waited an hour and still no hot water. They then moved us to another room and was told that the hot water in that room was fine. I went to take a shower and no hot water again. They moved is to another room and the water was fine but at around two in the morning the a.c. stopped working. I spoke with the general manager the next morning and they refused to move us to another room stating that we would have the same problems in another room so we were forced into finding another hotel to stay in. Do yourself a favor and don't ever stay at this hotel. read more

Stayed here this past weekend with my boyfriend while we were in town for his sister's wedding. Wasn't quite what I was hoping it would be but what can you expect from a Motel 6 in a sense. I thought the room was going to be a little bigger since we deserved a queen bed and given the fact that I was tripping over my stuff while getting around but it's whatever. Wasn't there enough to really complain and nitpick about too many things since I wasn't there much other than to crash. Went down to the front desk to get extra pillows but they only had one but its whatever. Would probably stay here again if I was in a crunch for money but if I had to I might stay somewhere else depending on where in Connecticut I was heading. It was nice that there was a Starbucks right across the road though which made getting coffee that much easier and quicker. Wish there was a continental breakfast and free wifi since I paid about $200 for two nights. read more
