When I opened the door, the smell of books greeted me. It was extremely cozy inside. I walked through and was getting ready to leave but Nikki, the owner, stopped me and thanked me for coming in. How personable and welcoming she is, I decided "go for it. Buy some books!". So I did. The inventory here, I imagine, revolves pretty quickly. Prices are awesome & definitely competitive to what you'd find elsewhere. Highly recommend for the bookish community! I bought a few books for me to

I was their first participant and Ms. Nikki made me feel so welcomed. I love how the bookshelves are arranged with the new books in front and as you walk through the building they're sectioned off with various fiction, sci-fi, nonfiction, children's, religion, and suspense books. Plus they have a sign that tells you the prices for used hardback and paperback books. The new books are pricier but I know they're worth it at least for me. This was a real treat to check out.

I LOVE the bright, open space, full calendar of events (fondly known as "sidequests", which so far, has included an Audiobook Walk Tour, Silent Read-In Night, and upcoming 1-star presentation), that makes for an ideal third space and even better stationary hotspot and book nook for any age or audience given the variety of times available.

(But just one shelf of classics was sad. ) Lots of little gift things (see photos). It's nice they have a bench big enough for two or three tired tag-along friends or husbands.

The sad reality was there was this really nice article about a couple who started this book shop…read moreway back when as a way to preserve history and keep books alive and they had a passion for it. That was too many years ago. Now this is just a run down, smelly, dirty book store with overpriced books and no one loving it any longer. Aisles are disorganized, books haven't been touched in years, boxes of discarded books at each turn and no one caring. When you love books you don't treat them like this. Very disappointing.

That was OK, as Gayle and I saw a nice selection of his work at the Guggenheim in Bilbao Spain last October. Or as the person working the bookstore desk mentioned, Richard Serra is having his moment. The Menil Collection Bookstore also stocks some Rothko Chapel stuff, but surprisingly nothing regarding the Byzantine Fresco Chapel, considering that fabulous art's imminent return to Cyprus. At the same time, this place is a fun and educational browse and within its eclectic offerings, there is artistic treasure to be found.

I got three books and two stickers to add to my junk journal which I am so excited about. The prices here are reasonably priced and I love supporting small businesses let alone Women and Black Owned business. The set up meets coffee shop/ library and it's beyond cute a lot of photo opp opportunities. There is also a kids section if you have a little one ! My fav section of the bookstore was the reading room LED sign with the yellow chair that I was told is called "The Queens Chair". I cannot wait to start my new reads and visit the bookstore again!

When big box book stores came around in the late 90's, they were magnificent but lacked the charm of a smaller more personal book store. Books Abound is a hidden treasure that took me down memory lane and I am so thankful for finding it! The owner, Jeff and his cute dog, Daisy greeted us and we felt like valued guests the moment we walked in, so that was something very different when compared to a lot of the remaining retailers. There were thousands of wonderful pre-owned books organized properly by category and then within the category, by authors. We have to been to some other book stores such as Half Priced Books that didn't care to take the time to have their items neatly presented or have the selection that gave us a chance to revisit our cherished childhood diving into a good book as Books Abound did for us. I found several titles I loved as a young child and young teen so I picked them up as gifts for our friends and their families and I even found an entire collection of the History of the Civil War from Time Life Books that have those beautiful embossed covers which I dreamt of reading and owning but couldn't afford so I had to buy all 28 books of that collection as another gift. I could not have been more happier nor delighted with this wonderful little book store and I highly recommend anyone to visit and if they too, love good, honest to goodness books to enjoy with their families. Tip: please remember to stop by the ATM or get some cash back on a debit card transaction and bring cash as that's how they keep the costs down. A+ first-class experience and a wonderful nostalgic feeling with this outstanding shop.
