The prices were under $20, so overall a good deal for a seafood place. All fried items had breading that wasn't too thick, which I like. Fried artichokes (not pictured) were also very good. I have no complaints.

Stop in Moss Landing along highway 1 for fried artichokes to split with mom $13 after taxes 6-20-2025

Neat spot offering casual dining and FRIED ARTICHOKES (and more)! Put that in all caps as there are a few spots that fry artichoke hearts but it can be difficult to find the actual vendor or restaurant going off a street side sign that just says, "fried artichokes". Haha The service was wonderful. They confirmed one order ($12) is great to share between two people and would be too much for one person. Chokes were served hot and sent off with a paper bag, some lemon slices (I think but don't see in my photo), delicious cocktail sauce and good tartar sauce. My mom and I were full after having a very light breakfast about 1-2 hours earlier - fried foods can do that. Neat stuff on the walls and they have exposed outdoor dining tables (west facing and exposed on all sides except the building on the east and no umbrellas or overhead cover - not ideal if windy) with a fun ocean motif to take your photo in front of on a fake dock. Right off Hwy 1. It's difficult to re-enter the highway (rude Californians - all it takes is ease off the accelerator and let a person gun it and go - road is choppy) onto the NB side during high traffic on a Friday around 5:00, so bring patience.

Breakfast scramble with shrimp and crab

Great portions, fast service and always delicious. Have been coming for breakfast for a few years-but want to try lunch sometime. The country scramble special is the best. You can sit by the windows and watch the traffic go by on Highway One.

Service was great! They were nice and helpful. The food was good but a little too much sauce. I needed something more spicy. They didn't have much but did offer me a salsa. The artichokes were not amazing but an ok extra.

Skirt Steak with potatoes, veggies, and fancy onion rings

Delicious food in an unfussy restaurant, exactly what we were hoping for. My husband and I stopped in Moss Landing Cafe for dinner during our road trip. The restaurant was pleasantly quiet and had nice music. I really liked the style inside: tables had sweet fresh flowers, fishing and oceanic photos hung on the walls. I ordered a daily fish option (halibut) with butter wine sauce, veggies, rice, and salad. My husband ordered skirt steak with veggies, potatoes, and clam chowder. Everything was amazing! We cook almost everyday at home and often feel that our home cooked food is better than what we eat out, but not here! I aspire to make halibut how this restaurant does, and the skirt steak was perfectly cooked to medium. We both loved the clam chowder and the salad dressing seemed really fresh and high quality. We felt the food was well worth the price for the area, our food was $26/person before tips and was near our hotel (Captain's Inn, which we also really like). We left dinner feeling satisfied and delighted. Service was polite, attentive, and didn't hover. Overall 10/10, we will be back if we ever find ourselves in Moss Landing again.

    Denver Omelet
    Rick P.

This was a tough one. I wanted to love this place going in. Expectations were high because of the almost 5 stars. But here Denver Omelet was missing green bell peppers and did not resemble an omelette. I would classify it as a ham and onion scramble. Nice chunks of ham and fresh onion for sure but if there was cheese, I couldn't detect it and unfortunately there were no green peppers. It landed in front of me about 5 long minutes after my wife's breakfast burrito came out along with my sourdough toast. As the minutes ticked by my toast lost all warmth but the eggs dish wash fresh and hot. Just not a Denver omelette. The staff was friendly but my food came late and I was starving! Ambience is what you're expect in a beach town roadside cafe. I could have been a much better experience. If 3 is average, this experience was a bit below that.

Prawns + Fish lunch combo special
    Michael L.

Stopped by this cafe at the recommendation of a friend who insisted we try the deep fried artichokes. I wasn't too big on the deep fried artichokes after trying them myself. Not many actual artichoke heart pieces and a whole lot of fried batter bits instead. The batter for all of the fried items was a little rough and crunchy, not done as well as other places I've tried. The Cajun Fish Sandwich wasn't really seasoned well (could not tell it was Cajun flavored) and the Prawns + Fish Combo was also scraping par for the course. Overall 3/5 because the quality of the ingredients was decent, just lacking in terms of execution.

    Skirt steak Benedict - 2026

Such a charming little cafe with a varied menu and friendly service. The seating is limited but the great mix of traditional cafe fare plus fresh fish and seafood is a gem. The fried artichokes and crab huevos rancheros were my favorite! The skirt steak Benedict was so flavorfully marinated and generous portions.

Hawaiian Sea Bass with steamed chokes
    Rich W.

This is our favorite place to have lunch the past 15 years before heading in to Monterey and/or Santa Cruz. We miss Mark (original owner), but Humberto (new owner) has kept the food quality and service the same...excellent! Deep fried artichokes are a must! The grilled Hawaiian sea bass is lightly coated and cooked perfectly. The prawn and crab Louie salad have plentiful seafood; the garlic toast was a bit cold though. The crab sando was filling. Don't let the little hole in appearance from the outside deter you from eating here...you won't be disappointed!

Fantastic staff! Great find along this sparsely populated area. The KOA next door is fantastic too! Food was amazing. Fried artichoke and fresh crab!!!!! Quaint little restaurant with lovely tables with bright windows. Reminds me of a little European seaside cafe.

    Turkey Melt
    Claire B.

Honestly way too expensive for the quality. They don't serve breakfast after 11:30 which was surprising considering half their menu is breakfast. Food came out quickly but not the fastest service overall. I got the turkey melt which had American cheese which was not my favorite. Cute vibes and large menu

The charming rugged mystique of Moss Landing is alive and well on the patio at Woodward Marine Market -- one of those quietly magical coastal moments. We had 6 people and 2 dogs in our party, and Nicole, our server, took great care of us. We shared two orders of tots. Honestly the best prepared I've ever had, simply because the crunch and salt and soft insides were in perfect balance, and the jalapeño aioli was flavorful but not overpowering. The lavender lemonade was tasty - we all tried it. The special was the diver scallops with potato and veg. Scallops are easy to overcook, and these were done perfectly, on all 3 orders of them at our table. The potato needed to be smashed and sauced a bit more, but otherwise that dish was *chef's kiss*! The chicken Banh Mi and the fish tacos (grilled) were also very good. The tacos could use a little more flavor/salsa/heat, but were stuffed with yummy fresh fish and shredded cabbage. One person at our table had the bouillabaisse and it was a sight to see! So packed with hearty hunks of fish, mussels, scallops, and shrimp. We al sort of gawked while he tackled it. We wanted to try the desserts but we were all stuffed!

My family is in the restaurant business, so I tend to have pretty high standards when it comes to hospitality and customer service. Our server, Razi, was truly excellent. He had the perfect balance of friendly and professional, made great recommendations, checked in often, and made sure we had everything we needed. At one point, I was feeling a little lightheaded, and he immediately brought me a cold towel and made sure my water glass stayed full so I could stay hydrated. That level of attentiveness really stood out to me. He was fast, efficient, customer-focused, and brought such positive energy to the restaurant. So many restaurants struggle these days with finding employees who seem trained, experienced, and genuinely engaged -- Razi was the complete opposite. He was outstanding. I even made a point to share positive feedback with the owner before leaving because great employees deserve recognition. I honestly could see Razi managing this restaurant -- or another one -- someday. As a fun side note, we also learned he's a singer/rapper, which somehow perfectly matched his great personality and energy. Really memorable experience overall.

We like to support local family run businesses and the food has been good in the past. The wait staff are consistently friendly and mostly competent. We've been pleased that when asked about gluten-free options each time, the waiters know about 90% of the menu off the top of their heads and aren't afraid to say they need to ask the kitchen when there's an item they're not sure about, rather than guess the answer, as has happened at other restaurants. Saturday we had a group of 8 that were seated at 4:45, so not exactly rush hour. We finally had to ask for water after 15 min. It was close to an hour from when we placed our orders before the food began arriving. I had informed the waiter of an onion allergy and requested no onions anywhere on the plate, as well as subbing extra veggies for the pasta. My food arrived with onions throughout the veggies. While I appreciate that they quickly took the plate back to fix it, the new plate had only a single serving of veggies which were so undercooked that even with the steak knife if was difficult to cut, and not great to chew either. I quickly gave up and saved it to finish cooking at home. Another guest ordered the tuna fresh catch rare, and it arrived between medium and medium rare, which was quite disappointing. But at least his veggies were closer to al dente. Another small irritation was that they brought out bread and olive oil, but there were only 5 pieces for our group of 8 so we asked for another one for our end of the table, and they charged us. While we recognized many staff as longtime employees, both the food and the service didn't live up to previous visits, which is even more disappointing because we brought new people to experience their food. Given this experience, it'll probably be awhile before we go back.
