Being new to the area, we were unsure where to go to get a tree that wasn't from a big box store…read more An older gentleman I met at the barbershop said he'd been buying trees from Sugar Mountain for 30 years, so that's where I went. We were going to drive to NC and pick one, but when I learned they were set up 10 minutes from our home, we rushed over. We went on a Saturday the weekend after Thanksgiving, and as we pulled in a truck full of fresh trees pulled in behind us. The operation was efficient; one guy gave them a fresh cut, one guy ran a post through the base, and another set them out. All of the guys working there were in their late teens or early 20's, and were super helpful - they even wrapped the tree and loaded it into my truck. We've had our tree up for almost 4 weeks and it still looks as healthy as the day we picked it out. I can't recommend Sugar Mountain Trees enough!

Nothing like Home Depot or any other big box retailer that doesn't care about the quality of the product. The owners and their crew take their time with customers to help them find the perfect tree in their price range. I have been buying trees from them for more than 25 years and wouldn't go any other place!

While I was in high school, my family and I always drove down from Charlotte to Kersaw to pick out…read moreand cut down the perfect Christmas Tree from Papa John's. To this day, I'm not sure how we came across the tree farm, but I have a feeling it was something my grandpa found out about. Although it was a long drive, it was something that we looked forward to doing together every year. We would listen to Christmas music, tell stories and make the trek piled up in my grandparent's mini van. After graduating college, getting married and buying a house, I told my husband about this great family tradition and so this past Christmas we looked up Papa John's online to see if they were still in business. To my horror, I found a review on Yelp that said it was out of business. I couldn't believe it and scoured the internet. Luckily, I found conflicting information online and called the business line listed on Google. Papa John's was still in business!! We drove down to the farm and it looked just the way I remembered; trees of all shapes, sizes and colors covered the property. We walked around the property looking at different trees, imagining how each would look in our living room and enjoying the clean , pine-scented air. Upon finding the right tree, the staff were very quick to help saw the tree, bundle and shake before securely strapping to our vehicle. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and very knowledgeable about all of the different tree varieties. The farm also offers pre-made wreaths, bows and various tools that appear quite useful for tree-related needs. The prices are very reasonable! We purchased a beautiful, fresh-cut 7 foot tree for $38. The thing I always hated about buying trees from those convenient lots around the corner from everyone's suburban homes is that who knows how long the trees have been sitting there?? Those trees are likely to refuse taking in water sooner than fresh-cut and therefore seem to be more likely to wither and present a fire hazard. While paying for our goods, I told the man that I read a review online that their farm had closed down. He mentioned that he had heard this but was not sure why that was posted online. I assured him that I would write a review and though it is a couple of months late, here it is: Papa John's Christmas Tree Farm is open! I highly recommend anyone interested in fresh Christmas trees, pack up your family and take a Sunday excursion down to Kersaw. It's well worth it!

Disappointed. This was the second tree farm after the first farm was just so so. This was even…read moreworse. They have mostly pre-cut trees. Do to the inflation of trees I can see coming back in about 10 years.

It's strawberry season and it has become a tradition we go strawberry picking Mother's Day weekend…read more Cherry Place has been our go to spot. It's a small family farm and they are always super nice. The strawberry fields are well maintained. It's not as large as some other places we've been, but we like that. There were a few muddy spots which was advertised and we had rain recently, but the paths were easy to walk. It was a busy day so they told us we would have to look under leaves to find the ripe berries. We still ended up with 2 lbs of berries and my daughter enjoyed. They tasted delicious, too. It was $4 per pound when we visited and they had jams and other products available. My daughter's favorite part is visiting the animals. They have some chickens and goats that are easy to get to. Sometimes they have corn out you can feed them with or you can bring some food to feed them. There's also a sink to wash hands after. Be careful with your strawberries or take them to the car first. I was taking a photo and a goat started to grab my bucket of strawberries. Lol. We haven't been to their fall event but love the smaller feel for strawberries. They post updates and info on their social media channels.
