Plenty of boats floating by. Great views of awesome SF landmarks, such as Alcatraz island. The park stretches all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, with grassy fields and the Fort Point historic site located beyond the beach setting. I come here often, particularly for attending special events on the water while picnicking on the smooth soft sand. It's a great spot for relaxing with loved ones, and not too far from many other cool activities and offerings in the Presidio.

Within the last 10 years, there was an update to the paved sidewalks, areas for special California plants, and various park benches/picnic tables throughout the premise. There's even an area where rotating food trucks are parked to curb any hunger/hangry tendencies. This place is also a great place for a clear view of Golden Gate Bridge, not to mention the Pacific Ocean, weather permitting. Sometimes it can get a little windy here, dress accordingly. Don't know any free parking around the vicinity, but ample lots with self service kiosks to pay for parking. Restrooms are usually clean. It was great to see that familiar landscape features are still there and thriving. The lagoon had the lone stork standing there in its grandiose elegance on a clear sunny day. There were safe paths for people to walk and run years ago. Nowadays, it is much more elaborate and well-defined - the wide paths for pedestrians and bikers. There were signs and placards and demarcated areas and critical habitats for the flora and fauna found there in the Presidio. There were ample wide open spaces for humans and dogs alike to roam around freely. Be careful of the uneven terrain though off the path as there are lots of mole holes and dug-up mounds and dog poop, especially in the open fields. Enjoy the plants and signage introducing the history and the landscape. The well-organized trash and recycling receptacles are also very nice. Overall, the whole area was nice and clean. Let's keep it that way for future generations to enjoy.

When there are just dogs with their owners, this is a pretty good dog park. HOWEVER on weekdays…read moreyou can expect to encounter one, two, or even three dog walkers each with around ten LARGE dogs. This is not a huge dog park so imagine 30 large dogs who are very high energy and racing back and forth ... I see that and I leave. Not to mention, one of the regular dog walkers has multiple dogs who are so ill-tempered they have to wear muzzles. My dog is 12 years old, a 68 pound black Lab and even though she is large, I cannot risk having her run down by an even larger dog charging across the park at full speed. Then the other week I brought in a 15 year old blind toy poodle who weighed 12 pounds, and his sister, a mini who weighs 15 pounds. The mini is dog social but she wouldnt get off the bench next to me because of all the chaos, and of course the blind one couldnt wander and sniff anything so we had to leave. Not to mention there is artificial turf so for a blind dog, it is not exactly a sensory cornucopia. TLDR: anyone thinking of taking your dog here? dont even bother during weekdays from 9 to 5. you are very likely to encounter a chaotic jumble of up to 30 energetic large dogs.

There's a community board with a few postings. An area of the park that's dog friendly. It's pretty clean inside for all the dogs here. There certainly are a lot around it seems. Find it in the southeast area of the park. It's bordered by Arguello Boulevard, Kezar Drive, and Lincoln Way. Close to the park entrance. This is a popular spot for locals. Good area for the dog owners to come. It's usually not that crowded here. This is also close to the carousel and the children's area with rides and things.

She was saying this area was a safer spot on town which my mom liked. It was very peaceful to sit by the water. One side is the Golden Gate Bridge and the other side is Alcatraz. I was in awe sitting there while enjoying the sound of the water. It was so peaceful and a lovely spot to take pictures. When planning a wedding, it can get stressful and you forgot to take a step back and breathe. This was the perfect spot for all of us to do so!

Overall, very well maintained and pleasant to be in. Not sure why but the only unpleasant thing is two burned down buildings. They boarded them up instead of tearing them down. At this park however, its common practice. I like this one quite a bit. It has access to a bathroom at the next door recreation center. It has a real seesaw or teeter-totter and and a merry go round. I have used the picnic table on many occasions. Lots of benches in the shade.
