Almost two hours later I called to ask about my booking, and was told by a very curt 'Natalie' that they were very recently "fully booked, as we got a lot of phone reservations in the last half hour". I told her that we'd booked online hours ago, to which she snapped "we don't have time to check the Ipad, and we are only taking phone bookings." What is the use of online reservations if staff don't look at it? It has left a sour taste in our mouths Neilsons.

The service was great. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They didn't seem to know the menu details as well as they probably should... we asked if the beef and fish dishes came with sauce and if we needed to order rice. We were told yes, but it turned out only the beef had some sauce (the fish didn't). I didn't really need the rice with my meal after all. Minor mix-up, but no big deal. The food itself was excellent. The fish was crispy and delicious. The beef was incredibly tender, and once I added a little extra BBQ sauce (the one it originally came with wasn't very flavorful), it was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were fresh and satisfying. Overall, a great meal with warm, friendly service. I'd definitely go back and try more from the menu. Don't let the lower reviews turn you off. It's worth a visit!

Get the pork belly baguette. It's so delicious…read more We found this bustling cafe on a Sunday afternoon on our way home to Melbourne. I would recommend booking in advance - we were lucky to get one of the last tables inside - most of the other tables were either occupied or had reserved signs up. My husband and I both ordered the pork belly baguette (even though there is a huge selection of other food on the menu). When it arrived, it didn't disappoint. Fresh baguette, delicious pork belly with hoisin and an asian-y salad. YUM! Service was great and speedy too. I also had an iced chocolate - it was HUGE! My only tiny gripe, is the price. $15 for a baguette is a bit steep - lucky it was delicious!

I guess you could describe it as one of those country cafes, though many of them have started to take upon the style of the inner city cafes - or is it the other way around - it is difficult to tell at times. Anyway, the coffee turned out to be pretty good, and the service was quite pleasant as well. Yeah, it was certainly a nice place to grab a coffee.

My grandmother and I ate lunch here a few days ago. We were looking for a cafe to eat at and…read moredecided to try Spiders Cafe after seeing a number of other people eating there. It felt like many other cafes in country towns: it was staffed by friendly people; the lunch menu featured items such as sandwiches, burgers, and baked potatoes; and there were a number of "homey" cakes and pastries for sale. The Italian focaccia that I ate was okay but certainly not exciting. It contained salami, sun-dried tomato, capsicum, onion, cheese, and mushroom. Improvements I'd suggest include the use of a quality focaccia, quality salami, fresh olives (they tasted canned), caramelised instead of raw onion, and fried/sautéed instead of raw mushrooms. Although I've given it a poor rating, the food satisfied my appetite and mostly met my expectations. Unfortunately I can't rate it higher when I compare it to the restaurants I'd choose to eat at in Melbourne and abroad.
