This review is mostly for people bringing young kids here for the Pumpkin Farm. There are a ton of things for you to do. From a petting zoo to hayrides. It was packed to the gills on the day we went, but lines were reasonable and there is a ton of space to spread out. The food services were typical fair stuff - nothing good or bad. The shop at the entrance has a TON of farm fresh food. From home-made jellies to fresh apple cider. this stuff is fantastic! This so-called Farm is nothing but a big rip off. Everything was VERY expensive even in their country store. You have to pay to go inside to the Farm to pick your stuff and then you have to pay for what you pick. And it's expensive. They have jellies, salsa, canned vegetables and pickled items as well as some fresh vegetables. But it's just so overpriced so over the top ridiculous. Unfortunately, this seems to be the business model for everybody lately. It's unfortunate and most likely we will not return. We were really hoping to find a farmers market where we could get fresh fruits and vegetables at a decent price but I'm not gonna pay to go in and pick and then have to pay for that too. I believe it was almost $20 for each person to go inside and pick what you want and that's only if the item is in season. read more

I came out here to escape the heat on labor day with my son. This farm is open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is about 1.5 hours north of Phoenix. When you arrive, you first pass through the farm market. They have lot of shelves filled with locally made pasta sauces, honeys, salsas, wines, and fridges/freezers with meats and pies. They have a little cafe there to order sandwiches or to grab a take away box with fruits or veggies or a pastry. There is a little table to sit down and eat. All of the staff in the store is super friendly. When you walk through to the farm, you first come to the chicken coop. There are chickens walking around outside and we even saw some eggs there! Next to the chickens is an enclosure with goats. There are food dispensers there if you want to feed them. There is a greenhouse close by as well. When you walk past the goat and chicken enclosures, you pass by some play structures for kids and then behind that there are rows of crops that you can pick from (you might want to pick up a basket from the store before heading out there if you are planning on picking a lot!) there are rows of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, okra, and I'm sure there is more too. When we came back in from the farm, we ordered some sandwiches for lunch. They were all very good! Since I came here all the way from Phoenix, I would have liked to have seen more farm animals and I was really hoping too that the "grain train" I had seen in some of the photos would have been available to ride. read more

I was so happy to visit the market with all the pickled items, bakery section, produce, and frozen meats. I had get something from each of the areas. Pickled veggies, frozen ground beef, a fresh cabbage, and a chocolate chip cookie. The store was clean and the workers were friendly. The store was fully stocked and there was so much to choose from. The cookie was good but I do wish there were more chocolate chips in it. I cooked up the cabbage which was fresh and very good. Becareful of the bumblebees. Upon leaving one landed on my sister and she panicked and got stung. I also got stung by the same bee in trying to help keep it away from her. For an hour away it was worth the trip. read more

Cash cow it doesn't mean that it's a good thing. We are so excited to go eat a burger but when we got there, we had learned that it was $15 a person just to get in and on top of that, the cost of your burger. Before we even ate, it was going to be $45. Well let me tell you we won't go back. I don't care how good their pie or their fresh vegetables are we found that ridiculous and we really feel taken advantage of. My family comes back each year for pumpkin picking, and it's a fun experience. While it is a little price, it's worth it and you can fill up the whole day with just activities that are included! Be prepared to walk because activities are all over the farm! But they have free hayrides to get from place to place if desired. A lot of good entertainment and things for kids to do. Maybe the only downside is that the food situation can be challenging. It's pricey and at the peak times of the day the lines will be really long. We've learned to eat before we get there and then just wait until we are finished. Overall, it's worth the trip from Phoenix for a day! read more

Veterans - save your money! This place will not honor your veteran discount if you show up to the gate and ask for it. They make you buy the discounted ticket the day prior to visit online. A 3 year old used to get in for free. Now they are full adult price. I rented an RV and took my family on a road trip to see a few national parks. We planned on stopping at Mortimer farms on the way home so the kids could pick pumpkins and feed the animals. Now I will be finding another family friendly farm to pick pumpkins. I highly recommend that all veterans do the same thing. There is absolutely no reason, other than greed, to not honor a veteran discount at the gate like they used to in the past. I'll start with the important stuff the produce. Best peaches I've had in AZ. THE BEST! The Cantaloupe same! 10/10! My wife had suggested it would be fun to take the grandkids peach picking yesterday. I reluctantly said "sure". I've lived in AZ for 30 years and I love peaches but had quit buying them and eating them because they are always crap here in AZ. Melons ditto! Both were ripe juicy and absolute explosions of taste! The three of us started by paying $88 for three wrist bands,That includes a tractor ride, and a muddy corn maze. Pretty much everything else cost extra. For $20 per person, we go to the Scottsdale Princess resort via Groupon and have more to do there. Back when the farm belonged to the past owners, it wasn't such a money grab. We enjoy this place. We pit stop here with our son on our way into Prescott. It's a great place to get the kiddo jitters out. The cafe food is very tasty. We had the BLT our last stop and it did not disappoint. We also left with some watermelons and they were top notch, can't get them this good in the valley. Our son's favorite part is the goats. He loves to feed and pet them. He also spent a lot of time on the swing zip line and obstacle course. The only reason I am giving a 4/5 is due to pricing. It was $45 for 2 adults & 1 toddler and nothing extra was open at the farm. This is a great place specially if you're looking to go dancing for a night the night was beautiful. It was nice cool they do charge to cover to get in, but I believe that also includes some food. Beverages are not paid for those are extra if you want adult beverages and what not. But this place was just packed driving all night from six till 10 with live bands. They were playing all night good music. It wasn't too loud. You were able to still carry on the conversation even on the dance floor. The staff here was phenomenal. It's been unseasonably hot and the festival did not have many options for shade. Even less than years prior. Somethings were still being set up as well. As it was the opening weekend it's one of those you understand. They had very cute shows and the food and drinks were delicious. The heat really put a damper on it. Hopefully if it keeps being so hot they can add a few more shaded areas. The animals are adorable. The corn play area I was kids repeatedly putting it in their mouth and spitting it out. I don't get why there's so many negative reviews, Mortimer farms is amazing. I've came for u-pick and the pumpkin patch. Follow the picking schedule and you'll have no problem finding whatever you're looking for. As for the employees, I have never met such sweet people in my life. Walking into Mortimer farms is like going to a family members house. Everyone is so kind and welcoming! If you're ever there make sure you stop inside for the canned goods and premade pies. The Apple crumble is to die for. It's easily the best pie I've ever had. The spicy beef sticks and the bread and butter pickles are my favorite! read more

After experiencing a pick your own veggies farm in Vegas, I was excited to try Mortimer. This experience was not it though. Driving by the "pick your own blackberries" signs we decided to check out the farm because we are huge berry fans. The store was quaint, well stocked and had various amazing selections of meat, pies and dry goods. The veggies were ok but could have used a clean sweep to remove moldy and bruised pieces but the prices shocked me. $20 for a tiny one person pie?! We wandered over to the cashier to ask how the berry picking worked. What really stunk was the $15 entrance fee and lengthy speech on how to peruse the farm with a heavy focus on the activities for children. We have no kids and there was hardly anyone in there- and we didn't ask about children's activities- a little attention here would have saved us both a speech on something that had nothing to do with our questions. And $15 just to walk into the farm!? That's crazy! We were instructed to head outside and were not told about the qr code map that gives you direction on where to head- so we were basically walking blind in the blistering heat trying to figure out where the blackberries were. Not a worker in site to ask either and no signs anywhere outside. We finally found the blackberries and you could see they were begging for water. I wandered into the middle of the bushes where I expected to find more berries as the ends are usually picked first and hardly anything. Small unripe berries were present but nothing notable for picking. I finally gave up and we wandered over to the restaurant on site for a drink. We rang the bell numerous times for assistance and no one came- finally after walking around the building and flagging someone down were we able to locate someone to provide drinks before we passed out from the heat. Shade is not plentiful here. We decided to call it quits and just shop inside as we were both annoyed and hot, and we walked Into a massive line with one cashier. Plenty of workers walking around but no call for help to reduce the lines, super annoying. Finally we get to the front and check out and my bf spots some sweets in the shop- we head over and wait patiently for assistance while the worker who didn't seem too thrilled to be there served another woman some fudge. When it was our turn, we weren't greeted, she went about her business and basically ignored us. I motioned for a blackberry cupcake in the display and my bf got a cheesecake. She plopped my cupcake into a container it didn't fit in at all and was wobbling out of. She almost thought to rebox it but then said nah and handed it to me anyway because she couldn't be bothered. Then we discovered we had to pay back at the other register that now had a line wrapping around the store- again super frustrating- we were dripping sweat, hot and just wanted to leave. After waiting in line again forever...another one of the other employees finally jumped on a register to assist with the lines while the one original cashier engaged in lengthy annoying conversations with customers while a huge line waited on her. I finally got to the front, paid and walked to the car and decided to take a bite of my cupcake and it was HORRIBLE. The icing was dry and crackly and the cupcake was devoid of any moisture and flavorless from sitting in a cold cooler. It almost tasted stale which was a huge bummer. I literally tossed it in the trash- total waste of $6. While I would go there in a pinch for veggies- I'll never pick my own again- just not worth paying $15 to do the labor on wilting plants with hardly any produce so you can pay again for your mediocre findings. read more

I live 30 minutes from the farm and this is first year I've attended the pumpkin festival. I was quite disappointed that there weren't any activities for "the littles". If you have kids under 6, you might want to go to a different pumpkin festival. I was also curious where the apple trees were for the farm to table apple cider, and all of the produce that is in the overpriced jars in the store. It seems to be quite the money grab for visitors from the Phoenix area. Not sure I'll return when my grandson is old enough to enjoy it. read more

Even if you're affluent, it makes no sense to pay that kind of money here, given the reviews that have found most of their offerings to be sub-standard, not something praiseworthy. My husband and I stopped here once to buy turkey pot pies to cook at home. The pot pies were delicious. They had a lot more meat than the Marie Callender pot pies we usually buy. We also bought a homemade dried soup mix that we have not yet cooked. The market was immaculate and well-organized. The market had a wide variety of food for sale including fresh vegetables, eggs, various kinds of frozen meat grown on the farm, honey, food canned in jars, homemade pies, flavored popcorn, etc. The deli offers fresh sandwiches, soups, bakery and drinks. When we are passing nearby Prescott, we will definitely stop again. Some friends from Flagstaff told us about this market. There is some indoor seating and also outdoor seating. A charming old-fashioned farmers market that's been around for decades, this is my kind of place. It's a special kind of place where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Freshly baked pies, beef jerky, tee shirts, preserves, salsa, juices, teas, and so much more. Good selection. A bit pricey, but so worth a visit if you haven't been there before. Today, it was my first time. The friendly customer service makes it a fun atmosphere to shop. We didn't go picking or anything of that nature, so there's no entry fee to just shop in their market area. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I'll definitely return. I've been buying produce from Mortimer Farms at the Prescott Farmer's Market since moving to Arizona this spring. I give them four stars for the produce (one star deducted because they greenhouse peppers, tomatoes, and such to provide for them out-of-season.) They have delicious strawberries. However, they sell out of strawberries at the market within 15 minutes of opening. At the most recent market, I asked if they had plenty of strawberries at the farm. I was assured that they did. I arrived at the farm early (for me) this morning. No strawberries at the store. Didn't know when/if they would have them later in the day. I was told I could go and pick. I'm older, with creaky knees and a sore back. But what the heck, I drove out from Prescott and I'd get some strawberries. I was beyond chagrined to find out that I would have to pay $15 just to set foot on the farm, and the strawberries were extra. And to say that the strawberries were slim pickings is an understatement. Under ripe, hard, not worth it. After 30 - 40 minutes of bending over in the hot sun, my knees had had enough. I left empty handed. Bottom line, if you are serious about picking your own produce, this is a huge rip-off. If you want to educate your kids about where their food comes from, along with the real life reality of farmers sometimes not having enough to harvest, it's great. read more

Great place for families! Lots of places for kids to play and eat. All of the play equipment was made from stuff you'll find at a farm. There were vendors great music, zip line, trampoline, large outdoor chess games, corn hole, basketball, hat , pig races, pony- tractor rides face painting, slides and many more. I would suggest to bring a wagon if you have infants to change their diaper since I didn't find a place to do that. I highly recommend and will be going back ! read more

This is a great space and such a wholesome feeling establishment. However, save your money. There is an entrance fee of $18.50 per adult and per child. If you attend the pumpkin patch it's $18.50 per person plus an additional cost for each pumpkin. Hardly worth the fee. There are other things for children to see and do but not for a fee of $18.50 and an additional cost for everything else you touch. Be prepared to wait for your food at the windmill restaurant.The food was burgers and fries with the option of dessert. Now granted it was busy that Thursday but the wait for the food was at least 20 minutes long. And on top of that they took a while to call our name and give us our food. There system was very unorganized along with mixing up the order and putting everything else we didn't want on our burgers. This place is our favorite getaway escape. We started coming here during Covid when everything was shut down and haven't stopped. We drive from Phoenix and the drive is gorgeous and easy! We have 5 kids ages ranging from 1-6. They all love it. We love to go during their festivals, when they have a bunch of venders and events planned. However, we also love going on a random Tuesday/Wednesday and having the place to ourselves. If you have older kids, I would aim to go on a festival day rather than an off day. You do pay for admission and produce by weight-but it's 100% worth it. The bakery is the best part hands down. The pot pies are the best we've ever had anywhere- beef is our favorite. They have the best pastries and sandwiches we've had in AZ. We also love the tortilla chips and beef sticks in the store. We have a season pass, which does go unused during the hot, hot times of year. But we more than make up for it in late summer, fall and spring. This place has grown to feel like home to us and has become a true gem in our family traditions every year. read more

The prices of their items are not easy to find. I bought this tiny 6in pie thinking maybe $8 to $10 top. Once I got home I realized it cost$19.95 plus tax. Ok so supposedly it was made fresh their at the farm. We'll once I opened the pie all I smelled was burn. No real flavor just a mild sweetness, and definitely no Blackberry flavor. Stopped in here yesterday for lunch with my coworkers and had a fabulous lunch. I had the club sandwich and it was so tasty! It was stacked high with goodies and the bread was fresh. Plenty of parking available. There is also a counter filled with pies, cookies, carrot cake, cinnamon rolls. I got 2 of the big cookies and I devoured them on my drive back to the valley. We dined here for their "Valentines at The Farm" dinner on February 10th. The food was delicious and I was hungry so I didn't have the chance to take any pics! Music was provided by a woman playing the harp and it was really perfect for the setting. The only bad part of the evening was being served hard cider and then drinking it (wondering why it tasted odd?) -- versus the sparkling cider we ordered. Not a big deal unless you're SOBER/alcohol free like my husband and I have been for close to 8 years! And it didn't just happen to us - the table next to us had the same thing happen and she was pregnant. So yeah, kinda concerning that our waitress either didn't know the difference (?) or wasn't paying attention. A place for kids and fresh veggies. There's a bunch of swing type things that kids can play on, including an obstacle course, zip line, etc. Imagine a really really expansive playground. There's fruits and veggies to pick fresh, but limited by whomever picked before you of course. The garlic fest is a garlic burger, garlic truffle, garlic ice cream, and free garlic knots samples.
