Went and bought shoes, socks, belt, jeans, trousers, and a top from men's department all for under…read more£80 which is good value for brand names. Also had fish and chips at Bannies. Superb! Needed to exchange the top so went back next day. No quibbles. Money back and I bought another.

We have shopped at Boundary Mill Store for many years, long before it moved to the new location,…read moreand have usually found it an excellent business to deal with, which makes our experience today all the more disturbing. Being privileged customers, we have spent many thousands of pounds over the years in all of the locations, including Bannies, the Marks and Spencer's concession, and all of the in-store concessions. One area we have had concerns about in the past, has been the very confusing pricing system which is applied in the main store. M&S is always very clear, Bannies usually so, but the Boundary Mill pricing can often look like a jumble sale. Today we noted several items which had up to five different prices on them. The shoes we bought had a red sticker on them, and were part of a large display of similar products on a freestanding rack. On top of this display was/is a large notice stating "UP TO 50%OFF" There were three different stickers inside the shoes we bought, a white one which was mostly obliterated by a red one over it which said £22.00 (we thought) as this was again mostly obscured by yet another red sticker over that which stated £16.00. We thought these were a bargain, and made several other purchases including shoes reduced from £45.00 to £30.00 and other kitchen utensils. When we came to pay for the shoes they came up at £16.00 and not at roughly £8.00 as we thought they would be at 50% off. Clearly we are not quibbling about the price of the item, but expressing deep concern about the confusing pricing display. The Assistant said if we didn't want them ok, but as we were both confused and embarrassed about the discrepancy we expressed our concern. The Assistant the went to the display and pointed out it said 50% off. She then pointed out that in 'very small print' "off the mmrp" We didn't have a clue what this meant! Off £22? Off £16. No, it meant off the manufacturers recommended retail price! Eh? What and where was this? It turns out it was on a very small white label which had mmrp £32.00 on it. This was COMPLETELY COVERED BY THE FIRST RED STICKER, which was itself covered by another. I am aware that pricing is only an invitation to trade, but this was/is at best very confusing and a worst a con. Such ambiguity does Boundary Mill no credit. Check and check again on the price you will actually pay as regrettably in this place, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!!!

Marks and Spencer in Burnley is in the outside area of Charterwalk Shopping Centre within Burnley…read moretown centre, the store is OK, it is over two floors with the Food Hall on the ground floor, this does, however, mean that due to the ongoing UK government lockdown, the upper floor selling non-essential items such as clothing is closed, I do think they should have made it partially open as it also means the toilets are closed too, given a lack of public toilets around Burnley town centre. Nothing too exciting, the Food Hall range was just OK, the store was mainly clean and the overall staff attitudes were mixed, there was a lady who seemed friendly and happy to help and a man who was quite the opposite. The store does close pretty early at 6 pm, I think it would be really useful to keep it open later, like many other Marks and Spencer stores, especially for the Food Hall... on a Sunday it shuts far earlier at 4 pm as it decides to open early instead of at 10 am, this is obviously limited due to Sunday Trading laws, but I would prefer 11:30 - 17:30 on Sunday's, which is again common at other stores. 3* - OK store, some good things, some bad, it wouldn't be my favourite Marks and Spencer branch to visit but it isn't bad.

The Marks & Specncer store in Burnley is a large store based right in the centre of town. It's…read morerecently undergone a makeover but I am struggling to work out what exactly has been changed. The food hall has had a it of an overhaul but besides that, they just appear to have moved things around a little bit. The Burnley store stocks clothing for men, women and children as well as homewares, food and drink and the compulsory M&S undies. There's also a small Revive café if you find the choice to overwhelming to explore in one go! The store can be a little difficult to navigate with clothes grouped into different ranges rather than clothing types. This means if you're looking for a new pair of trousers you'll have to explore the whole store if you're looking to make an informed choice. The store does get busy, particularly at sale times when it fast becomes bedlam and the food hall always seems to be busy when I visit, despite the extortionate prices!
