I should not have worried like I did - inside it is very pleasant, and the staff are very friendly and polite and attentive. I went with a typical full english breakfast and found it to be very good quality - in particular the chips tasted really nice and the sausages were great! I felt that the full english was a little more than you'd expect to pay in these sort of cafes throughout London, however this may have just been down to the area which very clearly was home to a lot of very rich people...! As well as the breakfasts I also saw some people get sandwiches which actually looked really good though I did not try one myself. If you're looking for a good english breakfast and you're in the area, I would recommend you give this place a try.

The cafes location used to be know as the 'frontline' and is notorious for being the location of the Brixton Riots in the early eighties. Although this is still not a completely safe neighbourhood at night the street is now a mix of boutiques, cafes and restaurants and by far the best of these is Lounge. Run by local boy and former actor Maynard Eziashi (watch out for him in the beautiful Mr Johnson with Pierce Brosnan) the cafe used to be just a tiny room on the corner of the street. Now it is a large and fully licensed restaurant as well as a cafe with another branch in the nearby gentrified Balham. The cafe serves up homemade smoothies and shakes as well as full English breakfasts in the morning, ciabattas at lunchtimes and both exotic and traditional English food in the evenings all of which can be enjoyed by the huge windows facing out onto the extremely watchable street life of Brixton.

I was on my way rock climbing when I saw this cafe as a convenient place to wait for someone and have a tea. As I walked in, I could see that it was cramped in space and I was trying to move the table around to manoeuvre myself into the chair while the waitress stands from across the room and just stares at me. She later walks over and I ask for a tea but didn't have cash on me. As I was settling down, she mentioned that there is a £1 charge on the card. I thought, I'm not that desperate for tea to pay £3 for what would be P&G in a mug of hot water. She looked at me dumbfounded as I searched for coins I hoped to cover for my the tea but with no luck, I grabbed my stuff and walked out apologising. Even though I was sorry, I felt very uncomfortable walking out of the cafe as I got stares and an unsettling vibe. I don't think that's how you want to tell someone "it's OK", maybe don't roll your eyes at a customer? I thought.

I've enjoyed each visit I've made here. The staff are chilled, with a certain Nepalese(?) serenity and kindness about them. The restaurant itself is understated; decorated in cool cream tones, with attractive plant and floral displays and inspiringly tranquil photographic scenes of Nepal. I enjoyed the food, too: well-spiced and a little lighter than most - more mainstream - Indian restaurant dishes I have eaten. Prices are mid-range. Although I can only comment, personally, on the experience I've had dining at the restaurant, they also offer a catering service and do home deliveries. Ideally I'd award them three and a half stars
