My wife's four tooth bridge broke in half after only a week and to their credit they replaced it for free but after only another month or so the supposedly, in their words, unbreakable bridge broke again. At this point we had moved to Oregon because of a medical condition that my wife has and Medical Cannabis is the safest and most effective means of treatment. I called to confirm that the dentist would a second time replace the broken bridge if our family traveled back to Tuscumbia for the replacement. They assured me they would. We decided to visit my mother in law this past Summer and squeeze in the dentist visit while there. The proceeding event is the reason for the negative feedback! While checking in to the dentist with my wife she fills out the standard forms regarding address, form of payment and any medications currently taking. Of course, she listed Cannabis on her list of daily medications because she has an approved medical marijuana card from the state of Oregon by a licensed doctor. No big deal right. Wrong! The minute she walked from the waiting into the back where the dental work is performed we were both starred at like we just landed our alien spacecraft in the parking lot and walked into the place like Martian Elvis! All of the young dental assistants were burning holes in us with their laser beam negativity. I thought the dentist would be more professional but boy was I wrong. He straight up said he could not fix the bridge because the medicine she was on would just make her teeth rot out anyway! Are you F-ing kidding me right now! I can't believe this person has a practice. And it was the main dentist the guy with his pics all over the walls. You can clearly tell two things about this sleezeball. He is clearly very proud of himself and he really enjoys surrounding himself with young attractive dental assistants. At least ten of them on duty with like two patents in the whole place. And now unfortunately there is something else very clear about him he is biased and severely uninformed about the uses and side effects, or lack there of, of cannabis use. So to wrap this up if you enjoy spending a lot of money on teeth from a dentist that promises his work until he finds you or your medical condition unbecoming of his self imposed fantasy based world standards then by all means visit Singing River Dentistry in Tuscumbia , AL.

I was new to the area and was searching for a pediatric dentist for my children. I called and…read morescheduled an appointment and showed up 15mins early to fill out paperwork. The receptionist was very cold and uninviting, she never greeted me or welcomed us to their practice. Her first words were " fill this out!" and handed me the clipboard, no hello or anything. I proceeded to fill out the paperwork and turned in my information. The receptionist then looked it over and said, " we need a group number or theres nothing i can do for you!" i said my insurance does not give us a card and i was only to give you my SSN. She then aggressively said, "no group number, no treatment!" I asked, is there a way you can look this information up? or are you expecting me to call?.. she said i suggest you call them. At this point, i am frustrated with how i have been treated and contemplating going else where, but i stayed and shrugged it off as if she may be having a bad day. Called got the group number and we were good to go. After waiting in the lobby for 25minutes it was finally our turn. We were brought back where they took xrays and cleaned my daughters teeth. Dr. Merritt arrives and explains to me that my daughter has "excessive" decay and he will not be able to see us because he will be retiring. I was highly concerned because my daughter has been to every 6 month cleaning and has never had any issues besides a cavity here and there nothing major. He informed me again that he cant take on anything of this caliber because he will be retiring. I left the office in tears and felt i let my daughter down.. how could i let her teeth get this bad?..... I then decided to call around and get a second opinion and i am so glad i did. I took her into another dental office that same day and was greeted as soon as i opened the door and they were able to find ALL of my dental insurance information WITHOUT the group number. I was called back within minutes of filling out my information. The doctor informed me that my daughter had NO decay or cavities but a small chipped filling that could use some composite to patch up the chip. My mind was at ease that he didnt see any excessive decay that i was told my daughter had earlier. He said she looks great overall! I felt this guilt come off of me within minutes of hearing this good news. Other assistants who previously worked at Dr. Merritts office said they were even glad they left there, they were not comfortable with his treatment plans. All in all, it leaves me wondering..............................how many unnecessary treatments has Dr. Merritt performed on children? How many kids has he traumatized over an "aggressive" approach to dental treatment plans?... Recommending treatment that they dont need?... I was told my child needed a whole mouth full of crowns when i actuality she only had a chipped tooth..... OR MAYBE?..... He didnt want to see us in the first place because he is retiring with months, if thats the case his practice should STOP accepting new patients in the first place. I am thankful DR.MERRIT is retiring i would NEVER go back!

He has never really been nice or helpful to her but we just ignored it. Well she has since had the braces took off but has some wires still attached. He has done such a horrible job putting the wires on and they keep braking and coming unattached. When she has went back he blames her for braking them on purpose. Look she is a 16 year old girl that is extremely careful and very self ware. She is in no way shape or form braking her wires on purpose. Dr. Merritt will not take responsibility for his mistakes and his horrible job of placing the wires on. He charged her a $100 to fix her wires again this is the 3RD time he has had to fix them. I normally do not write reviews like this, but enough is enough. His office staff is extremely wonderful and would give them an awesome review but Dr. Merritt is someone I would NOT recommend anyone to make an appointment with. He is someone that doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes and will blame a child for his mistakes then charge you extra for his mistakes. If you want a Honest Dentist I would not go to Dr. Merritt. Also I only gave him one star because to post this review I had to.

Only doctors office on the planet where if you have an appointment at a certain time, he and his staff are always on time. They take the time to make sure your visit is pain free, relaxed and comfortable. You never have to worry about the pain. All the equipment is up to date and the best. Meanwhile she continues to complain of tooth pain & teeth continue to stain despite regular brushing. Finally took her to another dentist & found out she has multiple cavities (1 so bad she will lose tooth) & 1 with large hole (very painful), also said her teeth have not been descaled in years. Obviously Dr Givens is a fraud or just does not care!
