We signed a contract with this contractor on June 9 to repair our deck. The contract clearly states…read morethat the project was to be completed by July 4. Today is July 16, and the project is still not even halfway finished. From the very beginning, the project was poorly managed. Work started late, crews were not sent as promised, there were days when no one showed up at all, and when workers did arrive, they often worked only a few hours before leaving. Communication was extremely poor. Our phone calls and messages were frequently ignored, and we were constantly forced to chase the contractor for updates. The job site was repeatedly left in an unsafe and unacceptable condition. Construction debris and garbage were left scattered around our property instead of being cleaned up or removed. We have two puppies, and they were injured because of the debris that was left behind. No homeowner should have to worry about the safety of their family or pets because a contractor failed to maintain a safe work site. This is a clear breach of contract. To make matters worse, the contractor knew we have an important event at our home next week and that completing the deck before then is extremely important to us. Rather than honoring the terms of the signed contract, he has used our time-sensitive situation to demand additional money that is not required under our written agreement. Work has now stopped altogether, even though the contract does not permit this. At this point, the lack of progress raises serious concerns about whether this company has the experience or ability to complete this type of project efficiently. Regardless of the reason, there is simply no justification for a project that was supposed to be completed by July 4 to still be less than halfway finished on July 16. Also, they tried to use subprime replacement material - not exactly what we had (for example: iron nails, instead of stainless steel that was used in the past) until I had to fight them for it. As a result, we intend to pursue legal action for breach of contract and seek all damages available under the law. I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring this contractor. If you would like to see the signed contract, our communications, photos documenting the project's progress, and other evidence of this experience, please feel free to contact me directly at feruza.esanova@gmail.com I am happy to share the documentation so others can make an informed decision before hiring this company.

I've been delayed in writing this review and that should not be a reflection on Patrick, Ivan and…read morethe rest of the crew. Our house is a 1770's colonial that hasn't had a lot of exterior attention in the past 15 or so years. Patrick came by and although he wasn't the cheapest guy I talked to, I liked his energy. I also liked that he had a carpenter who could address some of our neglected issues to take care of everything we needed all at the same time. The house came out great. I feel like I shouldn't have to do anything to the outside for several years. When I do, I'll give Patrick a call. We'll also be using them for some interior work when we get around to it after the holidays. Some things to know: Spend some time with Patrick walking the project and getting ideas on things that need to be addressed. He has a great eye and will notice things you've overlooked for years. Try to be on site as much as you can when they are there. Things come up and the project will go better if you can give them feedback in real time. Don't hesitate to ask them to do something over or differently. We had a few sections painted over a different color. It costs a bit more but they are happy to do what they can to make you happy. Keep an eye on your dog. Be considerate! One of my neighbors liked their work on my house and hired them to work on his. His dog bit 2 of their guys. That's not cool. If you have a dog figure out how to keep it from biting people when they work on your house. The house looks great. They are coming back to finish a few things for me and I'm looking forward to working with them again. These are the guys to use! I'll post photos one of these days!

I'll go ahead and start by saying that I wrote a lengthy email to the owner following the…read morecompletion of the exterior painting of my house with the goal of letting him know about my overall reaction to his work. I tried to paste that email here, but it was too long, so i'll summarize it below in a minute. Before I get there, the shocking matter is that the owner showed up at my house 4 hours after writing the email to confront me, telling me that I had plenty of time to tell him about the additional issues (it's been 23 hours...). While he was here, he said that my "f***ing house is a dump," and followed that with "you're a d**k, bro." I'm sure he'll respond to this post saying that's not what he said, but it all happened in front of my security camera, so it's hard to argue with a recording. The gist of the my email to him was that 1) the paint job looks pretty good (4/5) but that there were a few outstanding items that I had to handle (they took down the spot light and didn't replace it, the cable box was hanging off of the house, the touchups after I first raised an issue weren't completely done, and the paint chips were still scattered throughout the yard) - nothing crazy. I will also note that they did the job within a week of hiring, which was pretty cool. I then told him about 7 items that I found to be quite poor in terms of his operations: 1) They destroyed our garden with their feet and ladders even after advising that they stay out of it 2) When I told him two shingles needed to be added at the start of the job, they didn't do it - they just painted over the spots (note: they ended up replacing them after I flagged that it wasn't done right, and they look good). 3) Pat (owner) consistently failed to show up on time during the slots he said he would (3 times) 4) The price increased twice after he figured out they'd need to do more work (with no warning that this would be the case) 5) The crew was constantly smoking on the property 6) No one in his crew (himself included) wore a mask, including while talking to me while i was wearing one 7) Pat's communication is filled with expletives and slang - extremely unprofessional for a business owner. I told him all of this in a fact-based, unemotional manner, and said i'd give him a 3 for a review as a whole, which has now changed given his aggression and showing up on my property. As I write this, he continues to text me with aggressive rants about how my property wasn't safe for his crew (which he never mentioned - and if he thought it wasn't safe, he could have declined the job) and how i should have picked up after my animals so they didn't have to step in anything (which he never mentioned). To wrap - work product was pretty good - no argument there - but the owner and his handling of things was aggressive and incredibly unprofessional.

The estimate for painting three rooms upstairs in our house was very detailed, seemed fair priced, and he was friendly and easy to work with and was great at answering our follow-up questions before starting our project. We were able to book the project on the timeline we were looking for, but we were disappointed that the pre-project meeting never happened, as the proposal had said it would. This meant that the crew leader had some outstanding questions for us on the day they started the project, and though easily resolved, would have been nice to discuss beforehand. Where we were disappointed was at the very end when the crew had packed everything up and was ready to head out, we were handed a "report card" of their work to score how they did on various aspects of the job. While we were happy to fill out the document, the walls were still wet with paint when we were asked to score and it was a bit awkward to have the crew leader waiting in the house for us to fill out the sheet. I was hoping we could have time to walk through the area once the paint was dry and take a close look at everything together (my husband and I but he was keeping our two young kids happily distracted at the time), but were told we couldn't mail it in or send it in at another time and had to get done now. It felt rushed and uncomfortable since the crew was waiting on us for them to complete their day, and I didn't look at everything as closely as I would have liked with the work being wet. The next day we went upstairs (where our work was done) to take a closer look and we ended up finding two areas that were missed for painting and some small stray paint splatter on the floor and windows that I missed before. Had I seen this when filling out their report card I would have changed their score on Quality from an A rating to a B+ for them. Juan and his team were punctual, polite, and efficient at getting the work done but if I had a suggestion for improvement, it would be to let the homeowners complete your report card on THEIR time, once everything is totally finished (and dry), as it makes for a very rushed experience at the end.
