There are some amazing products in there. Yes, great spices, but I especially love their real ingredients in their baking mixes! I'll be back at some point. I also loved their chic, sleek black silverware set.

I admired the owner's story and absolutely loved the concept. It's a cooks dream to have a destination dedicated to fun and unique spices from all over the world. Unfortunately, after my visit to The Spice Suite today my feelings changed completely about this business. As we were headed over, I was telling my boyfriend to make sure I don't spend too much because I knew going into a world of spices would most likely lead to a big dent in my pocket. I was ready to spend!!! After my first 10 mins in the shop, i told myself I wasn't going to spend a single penny in here. Here's why....first, the two women working there could have just not been there. It seemed like we were imposing on them by being there and asking questions. In a place like this where product is so unique the staff should be enthusiastic, inviting and able to answer questions about the product. Nope, not these two. Secondly, when asked what some of the spices were made of (basic info like salt or no salt) they had no clue. They were guessing where things were from and eventually called someone to find out what the spices were. Third point ties into my second point...they have random bags of spices with no labels on them. I'm pretty sure that's not legal, but I won't go there. The response when asked about ingredients, was that "they're from different countries and sometimes aren't always sure of the contents. Customers should be adventurous" Are you kidding me??? That's when I lost it. Adventurous? There is this thing called food allergies that kill people. The final straw was the lack of pricing on product. I wish that was the only issue because I could deal with that. All the other issues were unacceptable and if I were the owner of this business I would not want to be associated with having this horrible level of service. I'll spend my hard earned money elsewhere where I'm valued. What a horrible experience. Hope this was a one off, but I won't ever return to find out. Suggestions to the owner...make an investment in labels people want to know where things are from and more importantly what's in them. This could help tremendously since the staff is incapable of proving that very important information. Lastly, find staff that actually lifts your business vs. staff that gives black businesses a bad reputation. On a brighter note, the space is beautifully decorated.

Oh, and the décor is very nice! I personally really like the Earl Grey Spring & Mulberry date-sweetened chocolate. Of course, the packaging is so pretty it's hard to separate that from the taste and texture, too .... The honeys here are like none other I've had before! The absolute cutest little honey bears I've ever seen! There's one raw honey in a glass jar that's the only chewy honey I've ever tasted -- what a treat to eat a spoonful of that plain, direct from the jar, mmm! (I didn't just eat it for the taste or texture, though -- I started to eat it because I'd read about the great health benefits of honey!) I really really enjoy the smokiness of the Russian Caravan. Plus, it's fun to research, read and find out about such things as how this rather unique tea flavour came about -- that it was the result of actual campfire smoke flavouring the tea in the first place while travelling across Russia way-back-when that is now encapsulated in this oh-so-tasty tea! Tea is a really great gateway to learning about various cultures and world history! Maybe it's his-tea-ry! Persian Rose Garden tea is splendid -- mellow and rich, smooth, calming (I'm not saying it's medicinally calming, but rather that it's evocative of a certain atmosphere that may make you feel a certain way if you tune into it.) Turmeric ginger is very nice, too .... Overall, aesthetically beautiful, palate-pleasing place! Highly recommended!

I love visiting Spicez because I know I will walk away with yummy meals!…read more I met Rani for the first time when she used to have dinner events at the Washington Printmakers Gallery and talk about the various spices used in making meals. The meal I had (I, sadly, do not remember the name was very delicious). Rani also cooks affordable meals for Too Good To Go that are available for sale almost every Monday night and are ready for pickup the following day on Tuesday. When you pick up, she also lets you choose a spice from her collection for free! Very generous, seriously! I have gotten two meals through Too Good To Go twice now and they were always extremely filling and sumptuous meals. Both meals were vegetarian, and I think that's what she mostly cooks. When I heard she was offering Chai with breakfast, I was ecstatic to try authentic chai! I was not disappointed because it was everything I expected it to be and more! I am excited to join her brunch where she has promised unlimited chai! Update: brunch with Rani was amazing as well. She served the fritters below, eggplant curry, the potato/chickpea dish below, parathas, another entree I do not remember, and dessert. The meal was sumptuous and yummy as usual! She also served two types of chai: plain and masala chai. The plain chai is so delicious! I highly recommend attending all of the special events she hosts!

The store is cozy (I love the decorations and plants) and it feels like you're eating an auntie's house with endless food. Brunch had about 7-8 people so it was intimate and great way to meet other people in the DC area as well. We started off with pakora and then had a medley of other dishes. I left the place feeling SO full and ready for a food coma. She had 3 different desserts (2 types of cookies that incorporated ghee) prepared for us, but we were all so full so she gave us the final dessert to-go. The shop owner / chef is delightful and so personable. This has a small family business vibe. She also had a bunch of spices that I will have to check out next time I'm in the area. Would highly recommend !

My original plan was to get some food from near there, but what I had intended to get was totally sold out for some reason. I don't know what's going on with that place, but that's something I will revisit later. This place came up in my Yelp search and I thought the idea of sushi would be a light and refreshing meal. When I walked in I was surprised by how big it was, despite being more of a grab and go type situation. But it was cool to see that they also had bowls and plenty of desserts! The sushi trays were varying prices, mainly depending on the kind of sushi it was. I got the Tuna Lovers sushi for $11, a BBQ chicken bao for $6, and I couldn't help but grab cheesecake! It was two slices (one black sesame, one green tea) for $5. This was surprisingly high quality. It's set up almost like those markets you see in rest stops or at airports, but everything was really good! They also have dumplings and a few other items that are cooked to order, so there is more to them that meets the eye. You can either get a speedy snack or dine in. The staff are also very sweet and offered to heat my bao as soon as he realized I was going to buy it. I didn't even have to pay first. I will most definitely be back!

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sushi and the variety of food they offer. Sushi rolls, dumplings, rice bowls, etc. are already made for grab and go. They can also make them fresh to order. We grabbed the spicy combo platter that came with the eel and salmon. We got hungry so got the shrimp tempura roll as well. The drink selection is diverse and they're reasonable prices around $3. Busy and in a hurry, this fast casual place offers high quality and great tasting good. Very convenient to order ahead or pop in and pick something up for lunch.
