This is my new favorite place in Dunedin. I can't compliment them enough on their fantastic flare of mixed art and decor and especially on their coffee and deserts!
First of all, you walk in and you're absorbed into the antique-ish, artsy, hodgepodge, home style feel of the shop. The building is antique and eclectic and their decor really brings the magpie morning theme to life. The entrance and main counter opens up into a larger sitting room with large storefront windows allowing in natural light and people watching on the streets.
The menu is filled with treasures, but don't miss their display case full of deserts and sandwiches. That's where I found pure bliss. My partner and I ordered out-of-this-world homemade carrot cake topped with homemade icing and tons of nuts and berries, a homemade apricot tart, a mushroom sandwich, and a bacon and egg bagel from the display and a long black and iced coffee from the menu.
Hands down, the carrot cake blew us away and my iced coffee with milk and ice cream (yes, ice cream) took it over the top! The rest was also fantastic, but we did have our favorite. Service was quick and friendly and I am definitely going to be back as soon as I get the chance! read more
