Very good experience and definitely I will come back in my best trip to Buenos Aires

Unless you know exactly what you want, and you can eat a ton, I would recommend going with the sample platter option. You get a ton of food, so don't worry, it's more than just a sample. You can always sample more. First of all, don't make the same mistake that I did. Do not get filled up on the bread or anything that they bring. You don't have to finish it all. Wait for the meats at the end. I can't go on to tell you which meat is the best, they were all phenomenal. It's going to be a choice of personal preference. We decided to get a nice bottle of wine, which was called Saint Felicien. It was a delicious small bag that paired beautifully with the meats. The ambience is incredible here. So lively, I could imagine what it would look like during a soccer game. People were all super friendly, and it just has a great vibe to it. The kind of food hall seems that you see in the movies where everyone's having a blast and talking to their family and laughing all about well enjoying great food. If you are going to Buenos Aires, this is a must see. Or should I say must eat lol it's gonna be one of my top recommendations to anyone that goes to Argentina. Hope to visit this place again.

If I'd reviewed El Sanjuanino after my first visit it would have been a 5-star review. Simply put,…read moreanytime I get a bowl of melted cheese the stars ensue automatically. Here in Buenos Aires, the melted cheese dish is known as provoleta and if your sensibilities mirror mine I'd suggest getting it wherever and whenever you see it on a menu. No exception here. I came back a second time with a smaller group and really couldn't justify provoleta for my party of 2 simply because I knew I'd consume it all. So my second visit, while very good indeed, allowed me to focus on parts of the menu that I'd enjoyed previously while not over-filling myself on provoleta. What that looked like was this: Multiple versions of empanadas, Choripán (basically a sausage sandwich), and flan, all accompanied by beer and wine and all enjoyed at a very reasonable price. TripAdvisor guests rate El Sanjuanino very high as do I. I have a hunch it'd be the place I'd return to repeatedly each time I found myself in Recoleta. It's casual and delicious - especially the provoleta - attracting both Argentinians and in-the-know travelers. You'd be wise to count yourself amongst them.

But hey, if you come here you mainly come for empanadas!! And those are great! I tried both fried and baked, and I liked them both. Service was very nice and fun, we felt very welcome and cared for. We ate outside, and it was very pleasant, so I can't really say something about the ambience inside.

The Food: - Jamón y queso (Ham and Cheese) : A really good empanada. This one I recommend trying--the ham-to-cheese ratio is phenomenal. - Jamón, queso, tomate (Ham, Cheese, and Tomato) [#1 recommendation]: This one was my favorite empanada in this place so far. A must try. If you like ham and cheese and only want to try one empanada, make sure it is this one. The ham-and-cheese one is good but the this one (with the added tomato flavor) makes it delicious. - Carne suave (Smooth Meat): A good empanada to eat. Neither bad nor out of the ordinary. - Carne Cümen-Cümen (Cümen Meat): If you want to try a meat empanada that tastes differently than other typical meat empanadas, I would try this one. It was decent, but certainly different than the standard meat ones. - Carne cortada a cuchillo (Cut Meat) [#2 recommendation]: Of the meat selections in this review, I would say my favorite (or the one I would buy if I had only the choice to buy one meat empanada) is this one. Similar to how they cut the meat "al pastor" in the United Sates or Mexico. Good choice. Pollo (Chicken) [#3 recommendation]: It was good. Of the empanada flavors talked to above, this one would be one of three that I would probably buy again. Good flavor. The Venue: They have (as shown in the pictures I have provided here) enough seating indoors for about 10 people to eat. However, this is more of a take-out delivery place. I ordered my empanadas to-go. But if you are in a group of four people and want to eat-in, I am sure that works out too. They have some special offers but only if you buy a significant amount of empanadas. Upshot: A really solid place to grab some empanadas in Palermo soho.
