A difficult & abused feeling experience with this firm…read more I needed legal help to process the estate of my deceased mother. I ended up wasting six months and about $4K, paid in fees, with no outcome with Geller Law. I was first requested to have a mandatory paid initial consultation session to go over my legal help needed. I was introduced to Julie S. during this session. After describing my specific case & needs, she informed me that Geller Law can handle my case. What followed was months of emotional stress & redundant conversations with the staff of this firm that yielded no results. It became clear to me that they didn't know how to legally handle my case. Some staff members were argumentative & appeared trying to take advantage of this emotional situation for me. There were redundant conversations that I was later billed for. I concluded that this firm is not the choice that can handle my case professionally. I terminated my work with them. The new law firm I selected to handle my case turned out to be more knowledgeable for my case. And, more compassionate with me. The process was handled smoothly & professionally to completion.

We spent a lot of time researching the firms to create new wills and trust documents. We settled…read moreon Lena's firm because they specialized in this type of work, were up front on the costs, and gave us excellent advice as we began the journey. We are very pleased with the results and would highly recommend this firm for will and trust creation. But there's a warning. You need to do your homework while you process the drafts and figure out what YOU want to do which may not be the easiest thing to do. Take the time. It took us more time than we expected (our fault) to review the draft documents. We did two hard copy drafts and one draft where we just exchanged the modifications. As a big…read morefan of the Suze Orman show, Suze clearly told me (personally, through the teletube) that I needed a will and trust. Sure, I tried online will and trust services (including my friend, S.O.'s), but I was really unsure of how "legal" those documents were. I didn't want my big ticket items (i.e. car, house, etc.) to end up in a trust that wasn't valid. Surprisingly, there aren't that many advertisements for will and trust lawyers. However, I did find Mr. Brian Bishop's website. I e-mailed his office and was shocked as to the level of detail and recommendations that they provided even before my (FREE information session - you have to register, though, so the office knows someone is showing up). That's right, it really is free for the first session. If, for some reason you decide to go with another lawyer, they don't bother you... I really liked that). Another plus was his legal assistant Liz. She was very gracious, but sharp as a knife with any issues you may have. Eventually, after scoping out some other places, I decided to go with Mr. Bishop's office. For the most part, after your initial discussion, Mr. Bishop gives you plenty of time to think about what you really want in your documents. Although he writes up your documents, expect some back and forth for you to provide comments and editing. True, it is rather pricey (compared to a software program), I really felt that I got my money's worth. I was really particular with what I wanted in my documentation and Mr. Bishop was very accommodating. If memory serves me correctly, within a month or so of my initial meeting I had both a will and trust ready to go. The only thing I really knew about lawyers was the lawyer jokes, but after working with Mr. Bishop, I really have a favourable view now. I will definitely be back if I need any of his other legal services. Tell him his youngest client ever sent you (the Asian lady who is a big fan of hello kitty).

In the document review, Ms. Sizer indicated that I should file a specific document related to a trust. My brother would need to sign this document. Since he was coming into the area from out of town, I emailed Ms. Sizer to ask her to send me the document for his signature. I finally got a response from Ms. Sizer after three emails and three phone discussions with her staff over about two weeks. This was part of her response, "As a solo practitioner, I am not able to prepare and provide documents on demand. I give each matter the due diligence it requires and address matters in turn so that every client receives careful and timely attention. Because this approach does not always align with timelines a client may wish to set, I believe it is best to conclude my representation so that you may continue with other counsel who can meet your needs going forward." If Ms. Sizer had responded promptly, this could have been avoided. If she needed more time, she could have let me know. Instead, she chose to remain silent. I have been a practicing attorney for thirty-five years. I hope that she learns that client communication is important.
