Been there a few times now. If you want the best meats cut to order this is the place. I came in for pork shanks (you cant find these anywhere fresh) and then saw they had rabbit as well. We were introduced to Moriarty's via the Cafe, which was outstanding!!! We wondered thru the quaint and tidy meat shop and purchased a little of this and that to try at home and WOW their meats are super prime delicious and the sausages devine! We've been back several times now to purchase cuts of meat and to try other menu items and found everything fresh and superior to other meat shops. We've never been disappointed in the least. Great place. My mom took me there because she likes going to a butcher instead of getting packages of meat, at a supermarket.

My boyfriend and I had a Friday lunch at the cafe next door and were hosting a dinner party with our parents Saturday. We decided to get whole chickens for the dinner party Saturday at the butcher and a couple sausages for dinner Friday night. The meat counter was pristine and the meat displayed was gorgeous. This is the new standard for buying meat. It is a little more expensive, but your body is a temple and you should treat it like one and you will be when you purchase quality meats from Moriarty. The sausage was great Friday night. Good flavor and I'm not a big sausage person, but would get more flavors from Moriarty. The chicken was incredible. It was the best chicken I have ever tasted. We used the bones and created a stock and that chicken soup was also amazing. Service was wonderful and attentive. read more

I had the best time getting lunch with my brother at the cafe & bar. Such a wonderful, friendly, and fun vibe. When I walked in, the place was packed. It is an 'order first, seat yourself place, so I ordered two tapas and seated myself by the windows to wait for my brother to order more. All three gals running the show were upbeat and so friendly. We ordered two glasses of wine (their $5 house wine is excellent!) and the lamb meatballs served falafel style (out of this world!). The music was playing and everyone in the place was enjoying themselves. Moriarty is amazing! Best local butcher hands down with top cuts of meat. They are unique because they source local, high quality animals and sell the entire animal in their shop. They are able to offer a lot of different cuts of meat not always found in grocery stores and are able to educate their customers on meat cuts, quality and cooking instructions. They butcher with French techniques and have an open viewing area so you can even see them in action while you shop. We discovered Moriarty a few years ago when they were located on Grant Street. They have now moved to Elmwood and the new space is fabulous. They have fresh, frozen and packaged meat options. At the new location they also have some to go sandwich options. We recently tried their fresh ground burgers, bacon, gochuchang pork burgers, breakfast sausage and sliced pastrami. Everything was fresh, delicious and top quality. The gochuchang burgers were perfectly spiced but not too hot, a great introduction to the condiment if you aren't familiar with it yet. The pork was fresh and juicy. The bacon was by far the best bacon we have ever had, nice thick cut. The fresh ground burger patties were very good, and there were 4 thin patties in the package. Great if you want to cook on a flat top and crisp up the outside a little. The pastrami was smoky and had the perfect meat to fat ratio. The prices are a little high, without a doubt more than a grocery store. But you get what you pay for and the quality of the product is well worth the extra cost. Butcher who sources from local farms on Grant St and is super hospitable and informative. What more could you want? Moriarty has pork from Erba Verde farms, delicious cuts of beef from a farm in Seneca and makes you feel welcome when you come in. Although there might be a line out the door, he takes the time to talk to customers and will give them cooking suggestions and recipes. It's worthwhile to come here and get to know your local butcher. The meat will be a bit pricier than at the supermarket, but at least you know where you're getting it from. I picked up some sausages and steaks. The sausages had no fillers or preservatives or nitrates and I can't wait to have some for breakfast :). read more

Moriarty's has been the best throughout the COVID plague times. Soon after social distancing orders were out we began ordering our meats here through their online form each week. The owners have made it very easy to select items for ordering throughout these strange times. They began with some basic packages with add-ons and have made their form more and more interesting has time has passed. There is always an option for 'something to roast', 'something to grill' etc and when we make that choice we are ALWAYS very pleased with what we receive. Family favorites have been duck breasts, their bacon, filets, bavettes, and brisket. They've supported social distancing pickup, you call when you arrive and they bring your order to the car. Being able to order online and pickup safely has really reduced our stress about groceries and we're very thankful. Super high quality meats that are vacuumed sealed for max freshness, well labeled too. Would recommend to anyone willing to pay a little more for quality local butcher items. read more

I got some Italian hot sausage bacon a beef roast Ground beef and sirloin filet steak. was really satisfied with the quality of the meat, it was a little pricey haven't had a chance to try it yet. One of a kind in Buffalo. They have picanha here which I have not been able to find anywhere else. I grilled it last night and it was better than Texas De Brasil, every bite was juicer than the last. They took the time to cut the beef into steaks for me and said they are willing to put an order in for me at a local farm anytime. This is a smart couple who you can tell enjoy their trade. Just found this gem after we enjoyed some 'lardons' or bacon ends that were absolutely scrumptious! A friend recommended, so I ventured there...was also in need of a brisket (for a group of 10). A simple butcher store by the looks of the outside, a convenient parking lot to the side(!), then you enter and they also have a great selection! A nice couple owns and they were so happy to help! Recommended a delicious veal brisket, got some lardons and I couldn't resist their Andouille sausage with paprika, and a number of other spices-sounded so good! Visiting Moriarty Meats is honestly one of the highlights of my week. And yes, it has become a weekly stop! I am always in awe of the knowledge this couple has about all kinds of animals, meats, cuts, and cooking styles. I love that I learn something new each week! Also, it is truly the best beef I have ever had. I have now been spoiled. I had to get a steak from a certain giant northeast grocery chain a couple weeks ago, and I prepared it the same way I have been cooking all my Moriarty Meats steaks... it was just not as good! Like I said, I have been spoiled. I can never go back to supermarket meat! When you go, make sure you get the beef pot pie. It is one of my favorite food items of all time. read more
