I engaged Bob Carey to prepare my corporate return and anticipated working with him on my personal…read morereturn as well. The corporate return was prepared accurately and within the fee range disclosed in the engagement letter, which I paid promptly. However, when I asked follow-up questions regarding differences between his methodology and that of my prior CPA, the interaction deteriorated significantly. During a phone call, he raised his voice ("I don't need to take this crap...I'm DONE, OK??"), used hostile language, and abruptly terminated the call. Within minutes, he returned my personal tax documents by email, effectively ending the engagement during filing season. While his technical work on the corporate return was satisfactory, I found the communication and professionalism during this exchange deeply disappointing. Clients transitioning from another CPA may reasonably have clarification questions, and I did not feel those were handled constructively. Others may wish to consider communication style carefully when choosing a tax professional. Now I have to find someone new right in tax season with no referrals and no smooth transition.

I hired Eric Ridley as my attorney because his website made the bankruptcy process seem simple and…read morestraightforward. Unfortunately, my personal experience was very different. A large portion of my debt came from my son's high school football injury and his seizure disorder, so I was already overwhelmed and going through one of the most stressful periods of my life. Instead of receiving the guidance I desperately needed, most of my case was handled by an out-of-state paralegal, and the process dragged on for over a year. The one time I spoke with Eric directly, he made a comment suggesting I "cut off" my 16-year-old son because his medical bills were too high. As a single mom with no second parent involved, I was devastated. I had no idea how I was supposed to simply stop supporting my child. That conversation left me in tears, and I eventually reported my concerns to the California Bar. Eric agreed to reimburse part of the fee I had paid. In my opinion, bankruptcy representation requires compassion, clear communication, and hands-on guidance--especially for clients dealing with medical-related debt--and I did not feel I received that. Switching attorneys was the best decision I made. I hired Karen Grant, who immediately fixed the issues, communicated professionally, and had my case filed within a month of our first meeting. This review reflects my personal experience, and I hope it helps others who may be searching for the right attorney during an already difficult time.

I have utilized another bank for a variety of accounts and have found that recently they seem to have increasingly less concern about providing excellent customer service. Banc of CA was the exact opposite. I worked directly with Raylene, the branch manager and she went above and beyond my expectations. Weeks later I called her to get some other information about how to manage some checks that I received and even though this had no impact on my account at the Oxnard branch, she spent a great deal of time advising me how to proceed. I highly recommend Banc of California, Oxnard branch and in particular the staff there, especially Raylene.
