I am a current student at MPA. MPA gives away a fifty percent scholarship in addition to a 2nd place of a 25 percent scholarship, and then a third place scholarship in five different areas. Add that on to substantial financial aid, and MPA really does give a lot of money to students, the vast majority, in fact, that don't go to Morgan Park Academy. I am the recipient of one of the scholarships, and went to public school my entire life previously. I come from a working class home, I have a job. On behalf of all the other parents, my mother apologizes for picking her child up from school. A long standing MPA tradition is called Service Day. The entire upper school picks a project, usually in Beverly, but there have been projects at the various Museums, and public schools a bit further away and spends a day working there. Past trips include Washington and Jane Smith Village, Clissold, local churches, Park Forest, a home for mentally disabled people, and the annual senior trip to clean up the Dan Ryan Woods. Funny, a favorite memory of MPA students and alums is being chased by our groundskeeper, Richie on his snowblower. He can be seen working at six AM the day directly after a snow. Morgan Park Academy is really not the neighborhood monster, in fact I've never heard Anyone speak of it like that, unless you're a senior suffering from acute senioritis that is. =D. MPA is a awesome school no matter what anyone says I'm a Student there the teachers are so nice and the staff is also nice it has a very nice look and there is no Bully's there everyone is super nice. I really recommend Morgan Park Academy read more

Nice grounds for a wedding or other event. Beautiful in Spring, summer and fall. School is welcoming and diverse.

Overrated and over priced school. The campus is over 130 years old, and it looks it. $15,000 a year for a school with no technology past the year 1995. Please do not send your son or daughter to Morgan Park. Let this dinosaur of a school become extinct. read more

A lot of people get confused when I tell them I coach at Morgan Park Academy. They confuse it with the CPS school a block away, which is understandable. Yet MPA is tucked away quietly up the hill, and features an amazing campus and ivy covered old Europe-styled building. MPA offers probably one of the best-looking campuses in Chicago, including having a large field for outdoor events, and a great playland for the little ones. Its three buildings and goes from the littlest tikes to the graduating senior.The educators are top notch, as you'll relatively find MPA students among the top students in the state academically. For a small school the tecahers give you a worldly view of things...its not all just books, here...as last week we wondered when some of our basketball players were getting back from "project week" after spending some class time in Germany. Its a very safe environment with some really impressive teachers. Athletics-wise, well the gym and other athletic fields are across the streel, also tucked away. The gym is small, but offers two actual gym's, one small, the other not so small. The soccer and baseball fields are impressive, and there's also talks of getting a brand new spanking gym. Sweet! Overall, MPA is a great place to coach, teach, learn, whatever. read more
