This is our second photo sessions with Veronica and I can't recommend her enough. The first time is…read morejust my family and this time is with my extended family. (1) Clothes: She came to our house and picked out clothes for us before the photo session. This is a very important preparation if not the most important one especially in a family portrait. In family photo you want everyone to blend in, that means the color scheme of everybody's clothes has to match. And it's also very important that the color scheme of the clothes match the color of the background. For example we shot both sessions in a park setting; one in fall, one in spring. The background colors of the fall session are green and yellow. The background color of the spring session is just green. For people who are great with colors might be able to do this on their own. But I am not one of those so I really appreciate that she includes this in her service. Now I am so spoiled I would feel insecure going to a professional photo session without someone telling me what to wear. (2) Photo Composition: In this photo session there are 10 of us including adults and children. We all know it is hard to take photo of such big group. But what makes Veronica really stands out is the way she composites her photos. Here are some of the most common photo composition of extended family photos. A. The ladder: One row of people sitting down at the front, one or two rows of people standing behind them. B. The triangle: Everyone sitting down either on grass, chairs or big rocks with their legs bending outward and body leaning toward the person in the center forming a large triangle shape. C. Holding hands: Everyone holding hands forming a huge line either walking towards the camera or away from the camera. D. Jumping up: Everyone jumping up at the same time. This is especially popular with beach shoots. These are all great ideas for extended family photos. But it will be boring if all the photos look like that. Veronica likes her photos to look natural and artistic. She is very creative on photo composition. The way she positioned us makes the photos look very natural and lively. I am so thrilled how the group photos turned out even my parents are impressed (They are your typical Chinese parents: hard to impress and often critical.) With ten of us living in three different countries, US, Taiwan and Indonesia, it is very hard for us to get together. So we really treasure these moments. Knowing for years to come we will have these beautiful photos to cherish it's the best gift I can give to myself and my family. Thank you, Veronica! P.S. Veronica is doing editing on the photos we picked. Once it's done, I will post some photos.
