To be honest, I was very disappointed with my experience at Kids Co-op…read more My daughter is still only in preschool, so I didn't expect too much to begin with. But since I just moved to the area, I thought it was important to enroll my little one in something where she could make new friends locally. I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for some good exercise, learning to follow multiple-step instructions, learning about thinking positively/feeling a sense of achievement, healthy eating, etc. But none of my hopes came to fruition at all. (And I know what I was looking for wasn't over-the-top, because I've seen this sort of positive environment before at a different location, and also experienced it myself at my adult trapeze class.) - After 6 classes, the coach NEVER introduced herself to me. I learned her name the last day because I asked. She also never introduced the kids to one another. My daughter only learned the names of any other kids because when week 3 rolled around and I asked her who her favourite friends were at the class, she couldn't tell me any names. I said, "Oh, well go introduce yourself! Just say, 'My name is X, what's your name?'" She left the class with 4 names that day. When you're in gymnastics, isn't one of the biggest goals to develop a good team mentality? How did the kids go un-introduced the entire time they practiced and played together? - I only knew the name of the receptionist/business owner because of a purchase confirmation. She never said hello when we came into the building. She DEFINITELY never asked if my daughter was enjoying the class. She never apologized after a scheduling mix-up. She spoke poorly to me of her own daughter right in front of her, in a facility that supposedly is supposed to encourage kids to have a good self-image. Put a bad taste in my mouth, for sure. Her kid wasn't even much older than mine. - Apparently, parents were supposed to receive a progress update every couple weeks, but, like I said, the coach never so much as introduced herself. - They sell soda, cookies, chips, and other junk food as a snack for after a class that's supposed to promote good health. - Dust is caked on everything. There are these huge vents that are painted jewel-toned primary colours, which you can see from beneath, but even so, you can't see through the dust on the top halves of the tubes. At first, I thought that only the bottom halves were painted! - The bathrooms are always gross. I didn't feel comfortable getting my daughter changed for class in there. - The coach is nice enough to the kids, but isn't able to give any of the kids any sort of individual attention due to there being too many kids per class. Since they do activities in "rotations", the coach will often be distracted by a single activity while the kids wander to the other rotations without instruction. Typically, the kids watch whichever kid is in front of them for direction. The only reasons I have to NOT rate it 1 star are: because my daughter had fun there, anyway; because it seems like the competition classes have more skillful coaches; and because a lot of kids benefit from the activity days there, where at least they're socializing instead of being parked in front of a TV. I don't suggest enrolling your 3-4 year old there.

She screamed at my son and grabbed his arm when he went to his bag to grab his water bottle. Screaming to the point where he was crying and shaking when I picked him up. So I confronted the principal of the school and the teacher. I said how are you going to scream at a 3 yr old for taking a drink when you got your yetis filled with drinks and your Starbucks drinks here on your desks. And my son can't have a sip of water. I pulled him out after that.

I work with children and I've worked in child care- don't work with kids if you don't like them.

My kids have been participating in these summer camps the last 2 summers (2021-2022) with zero issues. Winter of this year (2023) the emails start rolling in about signing up this and that. Great! You sign up early and get a discount for multiple children and multiple camps. Right on their website, "For Multi Camp and Team Discounts | Contact us today!", which I've done the prior 2 years with no issue. Feb 16: my first email to him, "I'm signing up my 2 children for multiple soccer camps, again. Can I please have a discount code? Thank you." No response. 2 days later: "Hi, I am enrolling my kids in multiple camps. The website said to email for a discount code." No response. Feb 20: I use their contact us form on the website to try and get a response. No response. Feb 22: I use their 'chat' feature on the website, "Hi, I've sent 3 emails and 1 contact us from your website with no reply. I'm trying to sign up my 2 children for 2 of your camps. The website says to contact for multi-camp discount. Thank you." No response. All the while, I'm getting weekly almost daily emails about "You've been invited to pay this $$$ amount for a one night class 'Ballers class' 'finishing class' 'total skills class' on XX day in the coming week". But I can't get a single response to ANY of my messages? That brings us to today, May 16, 2023. I had all but forgotten about this and receive an email from Matt, "I am going through our old messages but I do not think our web chat messages made it to you in reply to Summer Camps for the kids. If you are still looking to add any additional camps, I would be happy to assist with a multi camp discount." Three months later...for camps that start in under a month. We've already made plans as ANY and ALL other camps require months booking in advance and sell out almost instantly. Why else would I be trying so hard to get ahold of you? You had at least THREE ways to respond to me. One of which you JUST DID SO ON! But let's blame it on your 'chat' feature not working on the website. Come on. Come to find out this is now the new norm for this individual per other parents. Life happens but if you need help with your business, you should get it. If you can't respond to messages that will make you money, you should find someone that will. If your website doesn't work correctly...ya know...fix it. Just disappointed.

They have a walking path through the woods with a natural playground and sandbox, a bird house building to watch and interactive displays, a mini zoo inside a house with small animals and activities including a treehouse. There's also a discovery den AKA play area indoors for $1. There's animals/insects outdoors such as turkey vultures, turtles, a butterfly house and a bird observatory (cute on the inside with toys for the kiddos - be sure to read the story about the couple who opened the center). And a natural playscape outdoors. There's also a bunch of fairy houses throughout the property that girl scouts donated. And lots of trails through the forest. They also have Magic Mornings for ages 2-4 Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays - but register ahead as they only have a certain amount of spots each day (it's seasonal - they have in fall and spring but not summer - see website). It's an hour class for $10 and includes a snack, craft, nature walk etc. They usually pull out an animal each class. It's great to get some time in nature with other kids. In summer, they have a full week of Magic Mornings in their Itty Bitty Briar Camp. Ms. Heidi teaches it and she is just great. They have a different theme every day such as sun, water, clouds etc and there's an activity each day (visit pond and catch tadpoles, water play, craft pertaining to theme). They have preschool pioneers for ages 4-5 and summer camp for older kids for a week in late June. *Just beware in June that parking is limited due to school field trips and you may not fit in either of the lots; you may have to park out front of the house to the left (which is fine - she just doesn't want buses idling there) They also have field trips to gardens and to the shore, classes for seniors, family nature nights, hot smores nights... Only negative (besides parking, which they can't really control), is the "snacks" for kids at Magic Mornings aren't the healthiest. One was cinnamon sugar graham crackers with whipped cream- regular would have been fine. 2 days were cheddar gold fish. Another day was blue jello with whipped cream. And some red licorice - the kind that whips. Fruit Loops were used for colors. So, if you don't like your child eating sugar, let them know you have a dietary restriction or bring your own snack (snack time is ~10 min and probably not needed but the kids always love snack time!). Some options that would be healthier and just as easy would be pretzel sticks, fruit, crackers, popcorn, veggies, string cheese...but I guess those all cost more besides pretzels/crackers/popcorn.

We visited on a Friday afternoon during the school year and it was the perfect day for it, not crowded at all, staff was warm and attentive everywhere you turned, and there was just so much to explore across two floors. As a homeschool mom, I am always on the lookout for places where kids are learning without even realizing it and this delivered completely. My little ones were engaged the entire time, bouncing between exhibits and coming back to do things on repeat. The water table on the second floor was a huge hit (dam building = instant obsession), the crawl-through body exhibit had them giggling the whole way through, and the immersive hall with the giant projector and the orchestra activity where they put their faces into the performers? They talked about that the whole ride home. We timed our visit to catch the 3 o'clock otter feeding and training, definitely worth planning around. Maybe 30 people gathered and it was totally manageable and really sweet to watch. What surprised me most was how engaged I was as an adult. I was genuinely learning things alongside my kids, which is not always the case at these types of places. It felt appropriate and interesting for every age in our group. A few things to know before you go: follow the directions on their website for the specific parking garage , it's about a 5-minute walk and was only $5 for us. Strollers and wagons are totally doable with elevators throughout. They also have a café if you want to make a full day of it, and rotating special exhibits (always check the website ahead of time so you know what's on and whether it fits your crew). We stayed about two and a half hours and left happy. Already thinking about when we're coming back.

Go on Sundays. It's empty and street parking is free.

The office staff is very responsive to questions and concerns. My youngest daughter (now 2) has developed so well and looks forward to going everyday! My oldest (now 5) entered Lightbridge very reserved and unsure and left with full confidence and now exceling in Kindergarten!
