To be honest, I was very disappointed with my experience at Kids Co-op…read more My daughter is still only in preschool, so I didn't expect too much to begin with. But since I just moved to the area, I thought it was important to enroll my little one in something where she could make new friends locally. I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for some good exercise, learning to follow multiple-step instructions, learning about thinking positively/feeling a sense of achievement, healthy eating, etc. But none of my hopes came to fruition at all. (And I know what I was looking for wasn't over-the-top, because I've seen this sort of positive environment before at a different location, and also experienced it myself at my adult trapeze class.) - After 6 classes, the coach NEVER introduced herself to me. I learned her name the last day because I asked. She also never introduced the kids to one another. My daughter only learned the names of any other kids because when week 3 rolled around and I asked her who her favourite friends were at the class, she couldn't tell me any names. I said, "Oh, well go introduce yourself! Just say, 'My name is X, what's your name?'" She left the class with 4 names that day. When you're in gymnastics, isn't one of the biggest goals to develop a good team mentality? How did the kids go un-introduced the entire time they practiced and played together? - I only knew the name of the receptionist/business owner because of a purchase confirmation. She never said hello when we came into the building. She DEFINITELY never asked if my daughter was enjoying the class. She never apologized after a scheduling mix-up. She spoke poorly to me of her own daughter right in front of her, in a facility that supposedly is supposed to encourage kids to have a good self-image. Put a bad taste in my mouth, for sure. Her kid wasn't even much older than mine. - Apparently, parents were supposed to receive a progress update every couple weeks, but, like I said, the coach never so much as introduced herself. - They sell soda, cookies, chips, and other junk food as a snack for after a class that's supposed to promote good health. - Dust is caked on everything. There are these huge vents that are painted jewel-toned primary colours, which you can see from beneath, but even so, you can't see through the dust on the top halves of the tubes. At first, I thought that only the bottom halves were painted! - The bathrooms are always gross. I didn't feel comfortable getting my daughter changed for class in there. - The coach is nice enough to the kids, but isn't able to give any of the kids any sort of individual attention due to there being too many kids per class. Since they do activities in "rotations", the coach will often be distracted by a single activity while the kids wander to the other rotations without instruction. Typically, the kids watch whichever kid is in front of them for direction. The only reasons I have to NOT rate it 1 star are: because my daughter had fun there, anyway; because it seems like the competition classes have more skillful coaches; and because a lot of kids benefit from the activity days there, where at least they're socializing instead of being parked in front of a TV. I don't suggest enrolling your 3-4 year old there.

Possibly the only Y in the state which has a hot tub, steam room and sauna in the locker room.read more

But, my kids have been taking things here for the past 7-8 years so I think I've got a pretty good grip on things from that perspective.) It's not the best of Y's but it's not the worst of Y's. It's a Y where the pool gets closed for cleaning at the last minute and you are never told. It's a Y where when something does hit their Facebook account it's not uncommon for the information to differ from what you're told if you call their front desk. It's a Y where a class that starts at 4 gets supposedly gets changed to a 4:15 start for the rest of the semester without you being told only to have you show up next week for 4:15 to find out that the class this week started at 4 at the whim of the teacher's schedule which of course means that you partially paid for nothing that week. It's a Y where in the distant past swimming classes would regularly have teachers that wouldn't show up/didn't know they were supposed to be there that day/no one was ever scheduled for that time by management. It' a Y that does offer a very good swim team with the minor issues of it having very unrealistic expectations as to what you are expected to pay and if you actually have a job that requires you to work weekends then you might as well forget it because you have no prayer with the volunteering requirements/travel schedule. But with all that said, at least in Bethlehem it's more or less the only game in town in terms of swim lessons for younger children so you sort or need to love the one your with and over time you do learn to lower your expectations and accept that no matter who you complain to things more or less never change.

PLEASE READ: I…read morethink we can all agree: trusting someone with your kid(s) is a big deal. My wife and I, in particular, dislike the notion of being away from our child; however, if you have an occupation and can't afford for one parent to stay home, or stagger your schedule even, this is a necessary evil. Here's the good news! If you enroll your child at Lightbridge Academy, the word EVIL will never come to mind! Each worker at the Bethlehem Lightbridge Academy, comes to work every day and treats the kids as if the kids were their own. The energy and the positive vibes walking in that place is unparallel. As a parent, I know every precaution is taken and a village of loving adults will be watching over my little girl. I cherish the good people on this Earth, and Lightbridge has managed to only employee these particular people. Everyone there has an amazing love for children and can back up their love with the experience. I am the biggest fan of these godsent workers and wouldn't dare take time out of my busy schedule to tell a lie. I wouldn't feel right if I didn't recognize this wonderful group of caretakers. I am insanely appreciative of them and owe them something special; after all, they take care of my most prized possession. A special shout out to Aliscia, Pat, Heidi, Jessie, Meghan & Tricia. I am blanking on the names of so many people, so please forgive me. Thank you all & 1,000 Blessings! Cordially, Corey, Darice & Demi!
