From the beginning, I was very clear that I was in excellent health and was approaching this proactively ​-- not urgently​ -- and that I still needed essential information before I could finalize anything. Unfortunately, despite this clarity, at exactly the one-year mark from my initial conversation with her, I found myself repeatedly pressured to finalize and sign draft documents that were incomplete and inaccurate. One example: a provision in the will assigned $24,000 each for the care of my two pets ​-- ten times the amount I had instructed. I pointed this out multiple times in writing and even spoke to Jennifer directly by phone, where she assured me she was correcting it "in real time" during the call. Yet the error remained in every subsequent draft. The larger concern, however, was the overall tone and approach that developed. Jennifer and her assistant worked as a tag team, pushing forward with a signing schedule despite my telling them that the documents were incomplete and, in some cases, inaccurate. In one meeting, Jennifer strongly criticized me in front of my financial advisor for "taking too long," even though I had made it clear from the start that my draft was incomplete. To make matters worse, this advisor was new to my team, making the comment especially cringeworthy, inappropriate, and unprofessional in my view. Additionally, Jennifer provided names of Trust Services companies I could consider as executors but repeatedly emphasized their supposed inconsistency and unreliability, noting that she was considering offering trust services through her own firm. When I spoke with the trust company I ultimately chose, they were very interested to learn this. In my view, it is concerning when an attorney plants seeds of doubt about other professionals in the field, especially when positioning themselves as the more reliable alternative. Writing a will is a highly personal, detailed process that requires trust, patience, and care. It is not something to be rushed when a client has been clear they are not ready. Since transitioning to a different estate attorney, I've experienced a much more respectful, patient, and collaborative process. I'm deeply grateful for the difference. If you are a client who wants to move at your own pace, ensure every detail is correct, and be treated as a true partner in the process, I would advise caution when considering Jennifer's services. She may be better suited to clients who are ready to sign within a short timeframe and who prefer a faster-paced, attorney-directed process. I take no pleasure in leaving a one-star review, but I believe it's important to share my experience candidly so others can make an informed decision when selecting an estate attorney.

In consultation she quickly grasped my situation with a few pointed questions. In court, where opposing counsel showboated or exaggerated, Veronica was calm, matter-of-fact, almost conversational. This was unnerving at first, but after our first couple rulings (favorable), I saw the other attorneys' performances as aimed at clients, not the judges. Veronica doesn't perform or exaggerate; She deals in facts that matter to the court, and delivers. When opposing counsel misrepresented events or twisted my statements, Veronica was quick to object sharply. I did not find her hard to reach: She seems to monitor e-mail at all hours, replying on weekends and holidays when necessary. Amy, her Chief Managing Paralegal, is fantastic - Sharp, tough, efficient, quick to recognize strategic value of details, and empathetic when needed (I needed a lot of reassurance). Divorce is awful enough, but the opacity and pace of the legal system is terrifying when family and financial matters seem to hinge on every ruling. Amy did a great job of keeping events in context of the law and our strategy, advising me on what to expect, and preparing me for each next step. She was responsive even when clearly managing a heavy case load. Working closely with her, I found myself fascinated by the process, and as another reviewer relates, at times even enjoying it. Both of them can be abrupt, perhaps an occupational hazard which I found intimidating, but came to recognize as ultimately in my best interest by not wasting time on what wasn't material or legally advantageous. Both could also quickly switch tone when I made clear my nerves were frayed. Their small adjustments and spontaneous offerings of compassionate perspective helped me trust they were honoring their fiduciary role, and actually cared about the outcome for me and my family, not just for their scorecard. As my case unfolded, that trust was rewarded with results. Despite the opposing party hiring a big firm and spending over twice what I paid in legal fees, the court ruled decidedly in my favor at nearly every hearing, and we settled with a very reasonable financial division. Most importantly, what Veronica, Amy, and their team secured for me is beyond valuation: A fair custody arrangement, and the legal protection throughout a very contentious divorce to enable me to live my life and enjoy some of the best family moments I've had in years. Important emails were not read before calls, and I often received multiple, confusing responses from different team members. I spoke with Veronica twice; the initial consultation 1.5 years before and a useless phone call 2 days prior to mediation where she berated and lectured me instead of discussing my concerns. Veronica's preparation for mediation was lacking. I had to review materials myself with the mediator, as Ms. Freitas had not read the opposing counsel's documents. Billing was unclear and included charges from unidentified staff. When I raised concerns, Veronica became defensive, stating she was cheaper than most attorneys and I should be grateful.

The first red flag was when my previous attorney sent a release form and it took Shana and her team a few days to figure out that it was buried in their spam. It started little difficult to get through to Shana. I ended up responded by her other partners Kim and Donald. Again they are both amazing people and very competent. But the problem I have is that I was very clear and upfront with Shana at our first meeting that I wanted Shana to deal with my case even after she quoted me her rates nearly double of her other partners. And she said okay. After a few more phone calls I was stuck with an issue the my wife had switched my daughter's day care. And I had no idea where she was taking my daughter to. I asked Shana if she could check with wife's attorney about the contact info of my daughter's new day care and some tax docs that she had provide. During these discussions I also mentioned to Shana that if I could ask for interrogatories if wife too as her attorney has requested. Shana asked me if it's retaliatory then DON'T DO IT. Her advice really made sense. And she confirmed that she would email my wife's attorney regarding my concerns. We waited for my wife's attorney and when I did not get any response. I reached out to Shana again. This time I was responded by Kim and that was on March 18th, 2019. She did send an email to my wife's attorney on the same day regarding my concerns. No reply at all regarding this. I had called Shana again to help me fill out the interrogatories and I had an appointment with Donald to help me complete the interrogatories. Thanks for helping me out Donald, he really did a great job. During this 3-4 hour session with Donald I met Kim and I asked her if she has heard back from my wife's attorney? She said no and proposed that I should ask for interrogatories too and they will have to respond with in 30 days. Here's the problem when you are dealing with 2 or three partners and at the same time going through divorce dilemma. I was kinda getting conflicting advice from two partners of the same firm. On March 27th, 2019 I tried reaching out Shana and I was told that she's on a phone call. I was waiting for her call and received a call from Donald returning on Shana's behalf. I asked about any reply from my wife's attorney regarding my daughter's day care and my tax docs. I was told that there has been no response. So I asked Donald to please kindly ask Shana to give me a call. Didn't receive any call from her at all. But in fact I received an email from Donald confirming that my wife's attorney had responded to Kim's email on March 19th, 2019 with my tax docs and the day care contact information. And Donald claimed that Kim was busy and he was busy etc etc. now from March 01st till yesterday I was under the impression that my wife was deliberately holding on to my tax docs and my daughter's day care info to kinda frustrate me. I really got sold on the idea of asking her for interrogatories. I noticed that the email was Shana and Kim both. No one bothered forwarding it to me for literally 10 days. I haven't met my daughter since March 01st, so every single day matters. My personal tax return filling has been on hold for this doc which has been sitting in Shana's email just because she's busy. I would never recommend Shana or her firm under any circumstances to any one, not because they incompetent but they definitely are negligent.
