I'm so happy they created this and have so many wonderful artifacts from so many amazing comedians over the last century. Comedy is my favorite genre of entertainment and it just seems like everything is so serious anymore. You can't help but smile and laugh while walking through. It's a joy to see the existing and new exhibits every time we visit. There's something for everyone no matter what your brand of comedy is. It's fantastic. There are artifacts like clothes, scripts, jokes, Emmy's, pictures, personal effects, etc. We love them. It makes it real. The Carl Reiner exhibit is absolutely incredible. He was such a comedic pioneer especially in early tv. He also helped create some amazing stars like Dick Van Dyke, Steve Martin and Mel Brooks. His friendship with Mel spanned several decades. I loved seeing the chairs they sat in nightly to have dinner and watch tv. I heard that Mel Brooks donated thousands of things to the museum. I can't wait to see them added to the museum. I was also interested to see Joan Rivers' jokes and memorabilia. She was such a trailblazer and so clever. She did things that woman at the time could not do like host the Tonight Show. She also spoke the truth which was not possible for women at the time. She was hilarious and lead the way for so many wonderful female comedians after her. Loved seeing the old clips, her original and remade joke files. The jokes were too funny. I also really enjoyed the new Lenny Bruce and roasts section in the Blue Room. Lenny Bruce was also a trailblazer. He was similar to Joan Rivers where he spoke the truth and the authorities didn't like it and often arrested him for what they considered foul and indecent speech. His jokes were hilarious and he lit up every room he graced. The roasts section highlighted by the sharp wit and zingers by Don Rickles at the Friars who started the whole genre. It also led to the infamous Dean Martin roasts later on. The interactive exhibits are always fun. It's great to listen to old clips, try some iconic scenes for yourself dnd pretend that you're doing standup at the infamous Caroline's. If you love comedy like I do, you must visit. You will not be sorry. Plan to be there around two hours your first time.

Reviewing a cemetery? Ok. A place like Arlington I can…read morecertainly understand but anywhere else... My Old Lady is a huge Lucille Ball fan and this is not the first time we have made the Holy Haj trip to Jamestown to do or see all things Lucy. Of course this was different because it was during the times of Covidious which meant only a quick trip to the cemetery before we were on our way. If you are coming here to see Lucy's grave marker there is one key point that is crucial to your visit. Make sure you enter the grounds at the correct entrance point. Having been here before a few times we of course did, but it would be very easy to screw this up and it would cost you some time. Lake View Cemetery is old and they have been doing burials here since before the Civil War. The place is huge and the grounds have to be over 100 acres and there are multiple entrances. If you enter by the main office over on Lakeview Avenue and Buffalo Street you'll be in good shape. There are hearts painted on the ground as soon as you get inside which lead the way. Once you see a small stone arrow marker pointing left, you're in good shape. You'll see a pink painted I Love Lucy garbage can on the right. If you go past that then you've gone too far. www.google.com/maps/place/42%C2%B006'43.3%22N+79%C2%B014'18.1%22W/@42.1112906,-79.2384499,214m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d42.1120393!4d-79.2383507 The roads in that part of the cemetery are very narrow and old but thankfully we've never had another car try to pass us nor have we ever seen another person in the section where Lucy is buried. We do pick off times to come and would never dream of it during a special event but let's also be honest as well. Lucy passed 30+ years ago and Jamestown is not exactly a happening place either. Overall the grounds are rustic and nice and the marker(s) for Lucy and her family are well kept up with. If you're a fan and in the area it's well worth a quick trip to pay your respects to a comedy icon and legend.

Going through the main entrance at the corner of Lakeview Ave and Buffalo Streets it is easy to follow the red satin style hearts to get you to the area closest to the plot. An "I love Lucy" trash situated off to the right let's you know that you are in the right section. A short walk takes you to the heart engraved on the back of the headstone with the name "Ball" on it. The stone reads not only her name but that of her parents and her brother Fred. Next to it are headstones of the Hunt family which were part of her late mother's family. Her epitaph bears her surname of "Morton" since she was married to Gary Morton following her divorce from Desi Arnaz. The cemetery is well cared for and set up in such a way that one can pause and pay proper respects. Other notables such as BF Goodrich are buried here but most people come to pay respects to the legendary queen of comedy who's final resting place is here in her hometown of Jamestown. Lakeview cemetery in currently in operation and cemetery protocols are in place. Check with their website for further information.
