I joined this group about 9 months ago. Although I've lived in the area for many years, when I…read moreretired from my job, I discovered that since most of my friends were still working, I didn't know anyone to hang out with or do things during The week days. Wanting to meet new people, I joined Newcomers. I attended my First luncheon in October and was seated with other new members. People were very open to meeting each other. Later, A meeting conducted by some Of the board members, was held for new members to learn about the club. Happily, I met some Really fun ladies and we exchanged information and began to Meet On our own, as well as at group events. Less than a year later, I am looking forward to getting even more involved, and have even volunteered to serve on the board. I definitely Recommend this group To anyone who is new to the area, or who is looking to meet new friends and/or to participate in a variety of activities. Most of the women are older ( about 55-85), but there is a nice sense of camaraderie, and it is a pretty friendly Group that sponsors a wide range of activities that includes opportunities to Meet for Book clubs, card games, crafts, happy hour and lunch or outdoor events like golf dates, pickle ball, and a daily walking club.

This place is a social club so it's members only although the cafe in the front is open to the public. It is a co-working space during during the day but it becomes a social club in the evening. We got a tour from Mary and the story behind the venue is awesome and bittersweet. They also have a nap room and offer yoga classes and sound meditation! I loved that they had one of those fancy bidet toilet and a soaking tub. For food, we were served with some finger food including: mushroom mousse (slightly too salty), chicken skewers (so tender and yummy). I ordered the pear cocktail which was strong and yummy. Service is really great, friendly, very observant.

The decor and furniture is gorgeous, with dark, dramatic themes in some rooms and cool details like a quirky door leading into a nap room and a sparkling crystal-looking light fixture. People can pay to buy a membership for the Jacquelyn to use the features, which includes a soaking tub, library and 2 bars plus a lot more. Thanks!

I've been an Elks member for over 25 years, in another city, while in Chico Ca. decided to visit…read morethe Elks Lodge, went twice, a Monday evening an a Wednesday evening. Was saddened that not one member welcomed us to your lodge either evening, with the exception of the bartender asking for our membership card. Both nights we saw governing members of your lodge, yet not one of them came over to welcome us, introduce themselves, ask where we're from, what brings us to the Chico Lodge?? etc.. Wednesday was your burger night, we thought about staying, but since No one had even spoke to us, we felt unwelcome, we decided to go elsewhere for our dinner!! Your Governing personal needs to pay more attention to strangers in your lodge, If I'd been someone looking to join the Elks, I'd have walked out, not interested in returning!!! Every lodge is struggling to get new members, pay attention to how you treat strangers in your Lodge!!! Also, if I'd been from the ABC, a couple things I saw, I could have shut your lodge down for 90 days!!!!!! Wake up and pay attention to who's in Your Lodge!!!! It makes a big difference!!!! To set an example, went into a Elks Lodge in Oregon, within a few minutes the Exalted Ruler had introduced himself, welcomed us to there Lodge, introduced us to other local members, the bartender housed our 2nd drink, with a welcome to the lodge, was invited to join a group for there dinner!! Such a huge difference than the way we were treated in Chico.... Wake Up Chico!!!!

It was a long, tedious ritualistic endeavor. It was expensive too. $400 for both of us. Then covid hit. We only used the lodge 2-3 times total for meals, we don't drink. I asked them if they would extend our membership and they said no, we had to repay! Since then, 2 different couples have told us they are members and the cost is $200 for a couple. The husband becomes the member and the wife is included. I asked them about it. No refund offered. This dishonesty makes me question the whole club. The rituals taken from the freemasons, known to be not good, was creepy too.
