Walking into the venue it was the proper old school Baltimore vibe; good drink prices, mature crowd, and plenty of seating. Ended up going on Dyngus Day, a polish celebration marking the end of Lent, which meant they had lots of beer and food (not typical, they don't serve food normally). They had great prices on drinks and food. Once I said how much I loved polish food, a plate magically appeared. The chapter president met with me and handed me an application. We spoke at length and really felt welcomed to the community. All in, it was a great experiences with no fluff or filler, just like I like my crab cakes. If I lived around the corner I would be a regular. This is the last stronghold of the old school Baltimore vibe I have found in the city. Highly recommend!

BUGSS is a great place for the do-it-yourself scientist. They offer courses and lectures and have a community lab space. Dr. Tom Burkett founded it in 2012. The building itself has a lot of history. The building was constructed as the Haven Street Factory for the Steiner Mantel Company, which made mantels and other furnishings. The northern portion of the building was sold in 1910 to the King Cork & Seal Company, which manufactured gaskets and seals. The building has had many tenants over the years. The building has been restored to bring out the charm of its historic industrial architecture while providing upgraded technology and amenities.

Everything was amazing. Ashley Murphy our contact for the club, was great with assisting setting everything up for us. We had no issues with parking, unlike last year, due to multiple events being held that evening, everyone loved the food, and the onsite Coordinator Antoine was a great help. I know we had a few guests who didn't RSVP and weren't on the official list I gave you, but Antoine was flexible and was able to fit them in. And the view of the harbor was AMAZING!!!!!

This club is amazingly cool, at least for those who may view cool through a pair of 3-D glasses. Their clubhouse is a reader's delight, stocked floor to ceiling with books and manga. It used to be a movie theater, and they have occasional movie nights making it a perfect meeting spot for Dr. Who fans, anime enthusiasts and geeks of every stripe. And now that pop culture is mainstream, that includes just about everybody. Once a year BSFS hosts Balticon, the Baltimore Science Fiction and Fantasy convention, a precursor of today's mega-comicons. They bring together readers and writers, artists and vendors, cosplayers and fans of every stripe and it is a truly amazing scene. BSFS is also a tax-free charity, working with several literary organizations to provide books to underprivileged children among other things, so teenagers who need to fulfill their community service requirements can do so by volunteering at a science fiction convention.

My problem with this is that Mark never gave me a chance to explain why my food was covered.If Mark had a concern he should have asked me to step into his office and talk about but he chose to make a scene on the floor.I was more professional towards Mark than he was towards us .Mark should not be in this position when it is a people oriented organization .if he continues in this role he should be made to take management classes and to be taught how to handle his authority. It's a shame that now my husband and I will not step foot in the AML post 38 after this very embarrassing encounter.As a matter of fact I will not be supporting this organization I will go to the VFW starting this Sunday.
