B & B Plumbing

B & B Plumbing

I hired B&B plumbing to replace the sewer drains at my home on November 17, 2022. They agreed to…read moretunnel underneath the house, and run new lines to all water fixtures, costing $12,000 total. We had an agreement that they would get half the money before the work was done, and the other half after all work was complete. They began work on November 18th. The tunnel beneath the house was finished that day. In writing, B&B said that the job after the tunneling would take 1 and a half days to hook up all of the pipes. The B&B employees repeatedly never showed up, or would show up and work for only an hour or two before leaving again, even when the weather was nice. They repeatedly told me that the job would be completed the following day, but it never was. They did not put a cover over the trench beneath the house even though they were asked to do so, so when it began raining on November 24th, the trench wide enough to fit a grown man and about 15 ft long filled completely with water, which caused major settling on the foundation of the home. The job wasn't finished until December 15th, so we were forced to be without working washers, sinks, and toilets for a month. On December 11th the B&B plumber told me the washing machine was fixed and ready to go, but when I ran it, it was not hooked up properly and flooded our house, so they had to go back and work on it further. They demanded I pay them more before they would finish the job, despite the agreement being that they would get the other half after all work was complete. Liz said that because the job was "90% done", and they had to pay their crew, I had to give them more money to finish. They would provide no compensation for the flood damage to the interior of my home, and made no apologies for the month it took to get a job done that they said would take less than a week.

They promptly came out, surveyed the problem and we set a date and time which was postponed due to…read moreheavy rains. No problem there. There was a broken water line under the house which had a small crawl space. We agreed on a price (which was very reasonable) and they went to work. They did a job well (with warranty) that other plumbers said was impossible. These are good, reliable people.

Called J-L and he answered phone quickly and listened to my concerns. His day was booked up but he…read moremanaged to squeeze me in after the end of the day! Once he arrived he was very nice and very professional. Walked my house and located all clean outs and very neatly ran the snake down the pipes and unclogged the pipes. Cleaned up and left my place better than he found it! Thanks again guys and I'll recommend and use you again!

The heating element went out on our hot water heater. We had never used J-L plumbing before, but…read moretook a chance. The owner scheduled my appointment and seemed nice, although rather frazzled. The gentleman who came out (not the owner) was nice and "fixed" it in a timely fashion. Three days later, our shower drain clogged, so I called J-L Plumbing. The owner informed me he was three weeks out and couldn't do it before then. I asked who he could suggest, and he suggested Chris' Plumbing. They came out two hours later and unclogged the drain in 2 minute flat. The following day, I ran a bath for my two older boys. We ran out of hot water at 1/8 full, certainly not enough to bathe with. I wasn't going laundry, dishes, or using any other hot water, so I knew something was wrong. The next morning I showered and got about two minutes of hot water. I called J-L Plumbing and the owner (sounding frazzled again) once again informed me he was three weeks out and couldn't possibly come out. I was rather stunned, since I had just paid him $395 to fix the heating element on my hot water heater, only to have no hot water less than a week later. I said "Well is there some way you could come out? It seems unfair that I should have to pay someone else to fix what you should have fixed the first time." "Don't you go gettin' snappy with me!!!" he barked. I proceeded to burst into tears because I'm a stay at home mom with three boys ages 5, 4, and 3 months, and a husband who travels all week for work. How I would make it three weeks without hot water was beyond me. I explained my situation and he told me he couldn't help me, but to call Chris' Plumbing again and if they couldn't come out he would "see what he could do." He also said if something like a clogged drain happens, they can go on those calls, just not something like my problem...WTF? I just called about a clogged drain...still three weeks...I called Chris' Plumbing and once again they came right out, determined someone (J-L) had set the two temperature settings on different temperatures, and he corrected it. Problem solved for $100, or the cost of a service call. Moral of the story is: Call Chris' Plumbing instead of J-L.
