And wow, this place absolutely delivers. Whoever the rich benefactors are - they developed and curated this museum and clearly went all in. There are so many planes, each one beautifully restored, polished, and presented like it truly matters. These are not just aircraft, they feel like fine works of art, each with its own story and presence. Even the gift shop impressed me. It is not an afterthought like at some places. There were multiple styles of T shirts, including some genuinely soft, high quality cotton options that felt like something you would actually want to wear, not just toss in a drawer. Prices were reasonable too, which made it easy to justify a souvenir. My husband was completely in his element here and absolutely loved every minute of it.

The Beechcraft Stagger Wing has always been one of my favorite planes just based on the aesthetics of the build. I love being able to see the framework and learn the history of this aircraft along with other interesting aspects of the Beechcraft company. The museum is impeccably clean and a pleasure to visit. Well worth the small fee and a few hours of time to wander through.

Walking through the home, gardens, and historic buildings really gives you a glimpse into life during that time period. The museum exhibits and tour guides were informative and engaging, making the history come alive in a meaningful way. My favorite part was exploring the property and learning both about Andrew Jackson's legacy and the deeper stories connected to the people who lived and worked there. It's a must-visit for anyone interested in American history and one of the most impressive historic sites around Nashville.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful -- peaceful, well-maintained, and rich with history. Touring the mansion really brings the 1800s to life, and the guides do an excellent job explaining both the achievements and the complexities of Andrew Jackson's legacy. I appreciated that the presentation didn't shy away from the harder parts of history, which made the experience feel honest and educational. Walking the property, seeing the gardens, and visiting Jackson's tomb gave the visit a reflective and meaningful feel. You can easily spend a few hours exploring without feeling rushed. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for something unique to do outside of downtown Nashville, The Hermitage is well worth the trip. Educational, scenic, and thoughtfully presented.

She has lived there for years and had never done this tour, which made it feel like a bit of a discovery for both of us. We ended up at the Lotz House Museum, and it turned out to be one of those unexpectedly memorable experiences. On this particular day, we lucked out with Chuck as our guide. He is a former high school history professor, and you can tell immediately. He does not just recite facts, he brings everything to life with stories, details, and just the right amount of drama. The house itself is not large, but that almost works in its favor. Between the stories of the Lotz family and the vivid accounts of the Battle of Franklin happening right outside, you can practically see it all unfolding as you move from room to room. It is the kind of experience that sticks with you long after you leave, and at around seventeen dollars, it feels like an absolute steal. And do not skip the gift shop. Treat yourself to a peach Nehi soda on your way out. It is unexpectedly fantastic, and I am still thinking about how to get my hands on more.

From the moment you walk in, you're immersed in the story of humanity's journey beyond Earth. The exhibits walk you through our humble beginnings in rocketry, the intensity of the Space Race against the Soviets, the tragedy of Apollo 1, and the evolution of technology that eventually put humans on the Moon. You'll see command modules, landers, rovers, military applications, the role animals played in early testing, quarantine procedures after splashdown, and in-depth looks at International Space Station and Skylab. And then there's the jaw-dropping moment when you enter the massive building housing the fully displayed Saturn V rocket. It's hard to put into words how enormous and impressive it is stretched out above you. Seeing it in its entirety is worth the visit alone. We easily spent five hours here -- arriving shortly after opening and leaving about an hour before closing -- and still felt like we could have spent more time reading and exploring. There are over 1,500 artifacts on display. Every corner has something fascinating. One of my favorite parts? Actual rocket scientists were onsite at the Saturn V exhibit, ready and excited to answer questions. Talking to people who genuinely worked in the field adds a depth you just can't replicate with signage alone. I also highly recommend catching a show in the planetarium. We saw the presentation on the James Webb Space Telescope, and it was incredible. Pro tip: get there about 20 minutes early and line up. The shows are popular, and early arrival means better seats. Bonus -- you can bring in popcorn, candy, soda, or Icees if you're feeling snacky. Parking is huge and well organized. While they cap attendance each day at several hundred visitors, we had no issue getting tickets. The onsite cafeteria looked large with several food options. I noticed vegetarian choices but didn't confirm vegan availability. If I had one small critique, it would be that I wish there were even more actual flown-in-space artifacts. There are some, but many displays are trainers and simulators. That said, I understand that many space-flown items aren't recoverable, so replicas and trainers make sense. I also appreciated that the museum doesn't stop in the past. It brings the story into the present, covering modern space ventures like Blue Origin and SpaceX. Bottom line: this place is absolutely worth the trip. Plan for at least four hours -- five if you really want to dive in. There is so much to read, see, and experience. Space nerd or not, you'll leave inspired.
