We got to explore the Island of Palm Beach which is part of West Palm Beach. We met at the corner of Worth Avenue; we were early so nobody was there yet. Our tour guide showed up a little before the tour which was at 8:00 pm. Five other patrons showed up and we were on our way. We found parking down the street near the beach. The tour guide was very informative. The second tour I've been to was exactly like the first except we had a difference tour guide. We stopped by outside of a few different stores such as Neiman Marcus, Gucci, Cartier, and Tiffany & Co. There was a ghost story linked to each building. Since this area was so old and historical there were tons of good stories. I normally wouldn't be able to shop in this area so it was good to see how the rich lived. We were given two metal rods. If it crosses it means yes, if it doesn't, it means it's a no; if it is wide open and hits your shoulders that means a relative that has passed is nearby. When we were crossing the street on the crosswalk, people didn't want to stop even though there's a sign that states it's the law to let pedestrians cross. So I suggest being careful crossing the street because well, we almost got hit. Overall, it's a good tour to take once. The second time it was predictable since I knew all the stories. Bring sneakers because you will be walking about three miles. My in laws loved it but they were sore from the walk lol. In the end, the tour guide did a trivia, we won a couple of DVDs. We also gave her some tips! Don't forget to tip!

The guide…read moremade no sense, he talked so fast, walked so fast (not fair to older folks in our tour), and overall I can come up with 10 things to do on a Friday night other than this! My friends and me agreed that this could have been a lot better. Maybe costume or his get up could have changed. He even made some small jokes along with his ghost stories, which did not help to set the mood of a ghost walking tour. I do like history so some of the historic elements were nice but most of the things he said sounded so meh because he was saying one thing and then all of a sudden he would start walking and hardly finish what he was saying. There was 15-20 people so that was also a issue because it was harder to follow. Some positives from this tour, it's a nice walk and the beach is right there for the cool breeze of the night. But I recommend you taking a walk independently and discovering Worth Ave by yourself. It is a beautiful area with nice stores and restaurants.~

I found out about this event on Facebook. It takes place in the neighborhood of Flamingo Park which…read moreis only a few blocks from City Place. The neighborhood has a staggering 458 historic homes in it dating from the 1920's when Florida was in the midst of a land boom. A lot of the homes have wood floors and fireplaces. Home styles include Mediterranean Revival, Spanish Mission and Frame Vernacular. The neighborhood used to be a pineapple plantation and it was added to the National Register of historic Places in 2000. You pay $50 online and then show up at the appointed house to start the tour the night of the event. The money raised goes to the upkeep of the neighborhood. Tickets were more if you bought them the night of the event. You have to find parking on the street which was a little difficult but I made it work. This year the tour was held on December 2 from 5 to 8 PM. There were twelve houses on the tour. They all served wine and most of them offered small plates of food from area restaurants. Once you checked in you were given a map and allowed to roam at will. This was my first house tour and at first it felt a little awkward walking into a strangers home but I soon got used to it because everyone was so friendly and welcoming. A lot of the houses even had guest homes in the backyard. At any point you were free to hang out in the backyards and sip wine and nosh on bites. I really loved getting to see all of the beautifully decorated homes and enjoyed walking through the neighborhood. The tour wasn't very crowded and at certain points I was the only walking around an area. The only problem I had was there was no bathroom facilities provided. At first this wasn't a problem but as the night and wine drinking wore on it became a concern. There was supposed to be a port a potty on the street but the door was locked and no one was inside. When I asked other people on the tour what they were doing they told me they were peeing on the street. I think it's awful that nicely dressed ladies who paid $50 to attend an event were forced to urinate on a public street. One woman told me she peed next to a dumpster. It's embarrassing to have to even recount this. Finally a home owner took pity on me and lent me use of their guest house. They probably regretted that decision because ten other women overheard and quickly lined up behind me. I attended a second different home tour later in the month and they provided portable restrooms on the street. Also free transportation was supposed to be provided by Free Ride but I never saw them forcing me to walk quite a distance back to where I parked. I learned my lesson and a good tip is to start your tour at the last house when you are not tired so that you are working your way back to where you parked your car when you are out of energy. As a lover of history and architecture this event was right up my alley. It's a shame that poor planning of amenities marred what would have otherwise been a 5 star evening. I would inquire what their plans are about remedying the problem before I purchased a ticket again.

We walked to the first house. The line extended down the street. We didn't get into the first house until 5:30. Each house was beautifully decorated. The hosts were gracious and talked about the houses. Each house served wine. One house served delicious fried rice. There wasn't food at any of the other houses like there has been in years past. There were long lines to enter each house. Although we have enjoyed this tour for several years, we aren't going next year. Perhaps start times could be staggered so lines would be shorter.

They had some light snacks on board with water and soda. The tour included a nice mix of local history and sightseeing. I wouldn't say I remember much about the guides' conversation on the tour, they were nice and friendly but honestly, the day and scenery did most of the talking for me. I tuned into that peace and serenity. It was a beautiful day on the water, calm ride, great views--just an all-around relaxing experience. I love being on the water, so this was right up my alley. Damnit, I should've been born a mermaid!!! If you're looking for something easy and scenic, this is a great way to spend an hour and a half. Definitely worth it, especially at any reduced price.

From the pick up at airport, The organized bus pick ups for excursions, private rooftop parties, private pool parties at top hotels, this was just amazing. I cannot wait to experience it again.
