What a welcoming environment! The owner Karen and her assistant were so friendly and helpful. The shop has outstanding vintage pieces of all kinds and from all periods, such great Americana on display. I took so many pictures and posted them all so you can see for yourselves. This is a fabulous treasure trove of epic portions. I love the place! With independent shops like these and your support Downtown Hammond can rebuild on a new future and life on Hohman Ave once again. It's encouraging to note this change happening before our eyes. I have bought jewelry for me, jewelry as gifts, and had rings sized with them. They are professional, they have a HUGE selection of antique rings. Huge. And I think my favorite part is they both know their stuff, and they have very very fair pricing. I get annoyed at other shops when I talk to a jewelry sales staff and they're only trying to sell me things. These ladies give you all the information they have on a piece, maybe the year it's from, they type of stone, the story of the tribe that made it, etc. They are not trying to push anything on you, they just inform you and let you decide. Pam is a geologist, not a saleswoman. She loves the stones and the metals an has a degree in their chemical components. I enjoy talking gemstones with her. But very much not a pushy place. I've left a few times time without buying anything. And I've left a few times with a purchase, when I thought I was just going in to pick up a ring I had sized. It just happens when you see all the shiny things. They also buy gold and silver. I have sold old and broken pieces of gold and silver and she tests the pieces and weighs them, and prices it based on that. you don't have to sell it at that point, if it wasnt as much as you hoped, or whatever. Again, shes never been pushy. Sometimes it's just fun to go and try on 40 rings with my girlfriends. They have sooooo much good quality jewelry. They offer layaway. And for Christmas, they said I could mak a wishlist, and then when my partner came in, they'd show him what I like and even gift wrap it for him. I can't say enough nice things. They're just genuine nice people who know a lot about gems and jewelry, and enjoy selling it and being surrounded by it all day.
