The art does give the place a good vibe and coupled with the comfy sofas one could easily spend a few hours here. They even have outdoor seating during the summer. The staff have a small town Scottish charm (I.e they are super friendly). The food is cheap, beautifully presented, and yummy! However, the menu is quite small with only sandwiches, cakes, soup, plus a special or two. I had a carrot and zucchini soup with an Americano and carrot cake for dessert! Overall, this is a lovely little cafe and I'm sure that I will be back soon!

The gallery also has a small coffee shop, which serves coffee, homemade cake and light lunches. There are only 4 or 5 tables so the cafe does get quite busy, especially at weekends. Cakes are good - carrot cake, chocolate cake etc, served with good coffee. Lunches are light, soup and sandwiches, but fresh and tasty.

We had their hot smoked salmon pasta and venison burger. They were both a little less than £9 each. The pasta was cooked al dente and had plenty of smoked salmon through it which made it almost too salty. The venison wasn't too dry but the bun was a bit too big for the patty. The shop has some very nicely curated products mostly dish and glassware, a nice baby section and a wall of skincare. You are bound to find a very nice gift for someone or treat yourself with something nice.

It would be very easy to walk straight past this shop, but it is definitely worth a look. Morningside Gallery has a fantastic display of eclectic art from a wide range of artists. They showcase original paintings as well as some limited edition pieces too. Morningside Gallery offer a wide selection of different paintings including places in Edinburgh, life drawings, nature scenes as well as some more abstract pieces of art. 3-D works are also available, as are sculptures. The paintings are truly beautiful and you are able to view the pieces of work available for sale on their website. Ceramics and jewellery are also available to buy at the Gallery. I cannot wait until I am able to afford some to the beautiful pieces of art for sale in the Morningside Gallery.

They show a range of mediums, from basket makers to jewellers! They seemingly take pride in showing variety and at any one time you will be able to see a number of works from different artists, often themed. When I visited there were a few artists on display (the work that is, not the people). It was all okay, some of it interesting, some of it not really my thing. A significant portion was taken up by bronze and bronze resin sculptures by and artist named Sophie Howard. Technically they looked impressive at least. It's hard to review a place like this based solely on its temporary displays. All I can say is I was impressed by its variation. The staff there were really nice and generally enjoyed browsing around. It is a bit small but they make the most of their space. Definitely somewhere worth checking out again.
