I would give this place 0 stars if I could but the only reason I'm giving Moondance 1 star is because the photo booth and the people working it were really nice and accommodating. I recently attended my friend's 18th birthday and they had hired Moondance, expecting a great DJ based on all the positive reviews. However, Steve was so rude and not attentive at all. My friends mom was already stressed from running around trying to figure stuff out, but Steve could not follow directions and when asked to do things such as announce/introduce people, he gave her a really hard time. His sound system was not good at all, and when we requested to have certain songs played he would not listen and still played whatever he wanted; he also kept songs playing for a long time even when he saw us getting bored and no longer dancing. Overall, Steve just had a really negative attitude and acted as if any request we had was a burden to him. I would not recommend this company if you're looking for entertainment at a party, wedding, etc. For the price that my friend paid, everything seemed cheap and was definitely not worth the price. Save your money and look elsewhere! read more

I booked Steve / Moondance Production for our wedding in June. Unfortunately due to the restrictions caused by COVID, we made the decision to postpone our wedding several months before the actual date. All of our other vendors were understanding of the circumstances and difficulties surrounding the pandemic and refunded us on our deposits. However, Steve would not refund us our deposit, stating that we already signed a contract with him, with the deposits being non-refundable. I understand that the contract we signed with Steve allowed him to keep our deposit and he has every right to do so. However, if you are looking for a vendor who will be understanding and accommodating during a stressful time, please think again before booking Moondance Production. read more

Moondance Productions Disc Jockey Service has made our experience a little sadder. Due to mandates our Wedding has been indefinitely postponed and this dude pretty much told me to kick rocks. I didn't ask for a full refund, its months before the event, etc. These are tough times and he could have been a little understanding. read more

I was really excited to book the karaoke weekend package through this guy. The price was right and he was very communicative when discussing the delivery etc, he even sent through a detailed contact. The issue came on delivery day when I was out of town and left his information with my coworkers to facilitate any issues. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. They tried calling him and no answer. When he finally called us back at 4pm (3 hours after the scheduled delivery time) he sounded like he was either hungover or high. We had already ended up booking a karaoke rental through a different company last minute since he was 3 HOURS LATE on just calling us back. He of course wasn't very happy about this and hung up on my coworkers. My suggestion to him is maybe read the time you are supposed to drop the machine off on your own contract. read more

Steve is an awesome wedding DJ! He responds to e-mails right away and is very professional. He worked with our budget and delivered! So many compliments on the wedding music :) ONLY complaint was that there was only one battery for the photo booth but I'm guessing that they learned from that and it won't happen again. I hate giving bad reviews. But this guy pretty much ruined my wedding reception - what wedding reception ends at 8:30 pm? He was unorganized, on his phone the entire time, nobody danced to his selection of music. His emceeing skills were sub par as well - didn't coordinate with the coordinator. I was nearly in tears by the end of the night when my entire reception venue was nearly empty and the remaining few guests were asking me when he was gonna play some good music. I wish we could get our money back because I will never be able to have my wedding evening back. read more

Steve dj'd my wedding this last weekend. He was very professional and did a great job. He even went with our crazy requests for an 80's themed wedding and I wanted karaoke at the reception. He had everything set up on time and the sound and music were great. His price was great and he even brought dance lights. We scheduled a karaoke rental for a surprise birthday event through Steve Elkins. We had a detailed contract signed by both parties stating that the karaoke rental would be delivered by 1 pm for our event which began at 3 pm. Between 2/2:30 he had not shown up, so we called and left a voicemail and sent an email asking when to expect the arrival. Around 3 pm he finally called back. Steve asked when we wanted it, and we explained that it was supposed to arrive by 1 pm, as stated in the contract. He just said "Ohhhhhhh." Clearly he had no idea what was going on, and definitely did not sound alert on the phone. When we told him that we decided to just try to figure out something else considering timing, he hung up on us. Immature and unprofessional, Steve. read more

He needs to update or improve his sound system. Doesnt sound pleasing to our ears and we got a lot of negative feedbacks from our guests because of the quality of the sound. It was a disappointment. I wouldn't recommend this for a formal event. No MC skills and cannot multi task as DJ, MC and looks like he doesnt care at all because he was there because he was got hired and just want to finish his job contract. No initiative and you have to tell him one by one what is already obvious. I was just fascinated with his review in thumbtack but turned out opposite. read more

Just had my birthday party this weekend and rented a karaoke system from Moondance. Steve delivered, set up and walked me through how to use the system. It wasn't just for karaoke, but was also a jukebox with tens of thousands of songs from every possible genre. While I did not end up hiring Steve over at Moondance - I am compelled to write a review about what a decent, proactive,kind and helpful business owner Steve is. The reason I didn't hire Steve was that a friend of mine has a photobooth company and essentially offered me a an absurd discount on their services - as a bride on a budget, I couldn't pass it up. :) Had they not, I would have hired Steve and Moondance in a heart-beat. He really gets what its like to be a customer in the massive, and sometimes overwhelming world of event planning. He is proactive, and willing to work with you - and he clearly enjoys what he's doing. Oh, and the tagline for his company are Van Morrison lyrics - come on, how awesome is that! :) read more

I have used this DJ service on numerous occasions and have always been satisfied. Steve always gets all the music we want and never lets the dance floor have a dull moment. DJ Steve Elkins is amazing! He was very professional and super fun! Steve was very organized, took time to understand our reception order of events and wishes, was always easy to reach via both email and cell, and was reasonably priced. He DJ'd our wedding on March 20th, 2015 and everyone had such an amazing time! He had a package option that we took him up on, which provided us with a one hour line dance instructor: Mark Goodman and a DJ: Steve Elkins who also served as our mic master throughout the evening! Both Steve and Mark worked very well together, both providing our guests with a super fun wedding reception! We are so pleased with Steve Elkins' DJ service and had such an amazing time! read more
