I have given advice to other parents on the disappointment with this play area. The cafe area is very over crowded, the play equipment is divided into different areas and always very crowded also.
My child attended a private birthday party in Mookie World and was a little late in arriving. The other children had been taken to the party room and all of their shoes had been put into a large bucket and kept together. As I arrived with my child, the member of staff who greeted me, put my son's shoes in the normal cubby-holes along with the other customers shoes.
When the party was over, my son's shoes could not be found. After giving a description and size of the shoes,I asked the staff member behind the counter if she could help to look for them, with no avail she spoke to another member of staff, who spoke to another member of staff and eventually the manageress came to speak to me.
For being a Manageress of a child friendly area, she was extremely rude and ignorant. She proceeded to tell me that I had upset the staff member because of my son's missing shoes, she did not help to look, she said that if they cant be found, then there was "nothing that she could do about it". She asked me if I needed to step outside and calm down and come back in again to speak to her when ready(very demeaning), my son started to cry at this point as it was raining outside and "the lady is sending him home with no shoes".
I feel that it is the premises responsibility if they take your childs shoes from you, otherwise I would have held onto them myself.
The very young staff members obviously dont have good customer service and unable to deal with situations themselves.
Also, to save any embarassment, they have a policy of no food and drinks to be consumed that have not been purchased in the cafe. One of the parents within the party was also spoken to very abruptly by the manageress for giving her child a sip of water from a tesco water bottle..!! read more
