These guys keep me in the Loop! This is a fun radio station…read morethat serves the community. They play a local playlist of bands from Chicago, songs about Illinois, and talk about local political and social issues. Since this station is on the left side of the dial, there's no real commercials on here- it truly serves the community with the occasional public service announcement. Plus, they talk about things that other radio stations won't or can't have the time to discuss. The celebrate all the local holidays, and have some in-depth discussions on all things Chicago. If you don't like the music on here, give it an hour, and the DJ will change, and they'll put something else on. This morning, I woke up jamming to Tupac with them. You can pick up this station on a smart speaker world-wide! If you're missing Chicago, or just wanting to learn a little more about the Windy City, this is a great way to tune in and turn on!

Here's my overdue but still casual chin-nod "welcome back" to Q101. I was never as huge a fan of…read moretheirs as other people I know, but I'm truly grateful to have more than one decent option for current music...that doesn't bite. Sure, they still spin the occasional Mumford & Sons, but no one's perfect. I mean, everyone's capable of making a couple insufferable, banjo-laden, carbon-copy, whiny mistakes once in a while. So, the good and not fabulous: + Exposes me to new stuff/keeps me from falling woefully out of touch with the kids: Wild Cub, Foster the People, Lorde, Big Data, The Neighborhood, Bastille, Vance Joy, Bleachers, Jack White. + Gives me not entirely unpleasant flashbacks to high school, etc.: Beck, Weezer, Cake, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, No Doubt, Blink 182 (yeah, so what?), Pearl Jam, STP, Oasis (at least I'm honest about it), Foo Fighters, Jack White's other bands. + DJs are not annoying, don't try to be Big Personalities, and seem to enjoy having the job a lot of people (me) would love + Is it just me, or are there not as many commercials as other stations? - When they give a band or song heavy rotation, they mean it. It's like when your friend has a friend, and you two don't hit it off, but the friend insists you two will love each other if you just spend more time together. (see: Arctic Monkeys, Bastille, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Cage the Elephant.) Overall, though, glad they're back.

I get it, they're new. It just seems like the radio personalities were maybe friends of the owner…read moreor maybe friends of friends. They just make so many mistakes; the articles they cover I will read later and it seems they miss key points, they stutter often, often get into giggle-fits with each other, and hardly seem professional. Maybe that's what the owners wanted, maybe they were like "Hey, let's hire these guys! Average people might relate to them or something because they are non-professional!" Even if they are non-professionals that might be "in touch" with normal people, they're boring. Normal people aren't all boring. One article they told about I read later described a village that captured a giant croc. She must only have skimmed the article asking "... wow, so many failed attempts, why would they endanger their lives if it wasn't bothering anyone?" I read that article, the croc was attacking people and was a danger. One of them, clearly disinterested and obviously offended, in her early review of a Charlie Sheen roast gave out spoilers and ruined some of what could have been great jokes by rattling them off one after another without comedic timing or care. Maybe she is under the impression that all listeners are only like her. Maybe that's their target demographic for the station now. Older women who cannot enjoy roasts. The station and current personalities right now just seems so sloppy, confused, and boring. Dull... personalities that lack personality... Did they pick them on purpose so that no one will miss them if they decide to fire them one day. Is this done on purpose so that they can never ask the station for more money? Fire them before it seems they get popular.

I like that they read my mind. (Or my reviews?!) LOL anyway all I know is that felt really cool that that song came on. And, as always, I'm still a devoted listener. Music has come to mean even more to me over the last couple of years and so WLS means even more than ever. I like it that they changed up their commercial (ads) content recently to some new businesses...it's nice hearing something different in the ads.

I grew up in the 80s and consider this a fun station. However, 94.7 continues to play the same…read moretunes over and over and over again. They always play Outfield "Your Love", Billy Joel "Piano Man" ,Survivor "Eye of the Tiger", Pat Benatar "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", etc, etc week after week.....same format. Can you mix it up a little please?....For example these same artists have cool songs like...Outfield "All The Love", Pat Benatar "Treat me Right, All Fired Up".
