When I first saw this monument all I could say was: Ah-ah, ah!
I vaguely remembered what it stood for, but after extensive research I can share my knowledge with you.
Many years ago we were ordered to construct this Monument to the Immigrant. Despite being ordered to do so, I think they are an impressive group who must be honored. Here's why:
Even though New Orleans' climate is somewhat tropical, we pay homage to those who come from the land of ice and snow , from the midnight sun, where the hot springs flow. We admire and respect the hammer of the gods. We laud the immigrant for his tenacity in driving his ships to new lands to fight the horde, sing and cry. Even in the face of certain death they yelled out: "Valhalla, I am coming!". Who wouldn't be impressed by that?
Still not impressed? Imagine being in your homeland and hearing about fields so green? You'd whisper tales of gore, how you claimed the tides of war, and became our overlords. Imagine how difficult it was for the immigrants to sweep their thrashing oars to reach their goal of the western shore.
Now I know you're impressed.
While researching this monument I came across the official decree ordering its construction.
Here it is: You'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins for peace and trust can win the day despite all of your losing.
Sure we had no choice, but this is a cool monument. Check it out. read more
