A must-stop tourist destination while in NOLA located in the Garden District. It's the mansion seen in the TV series, American Horror Story: Coven. It would be so cool if they featured a tour of the mansion. Nonetheless, you can get a scenic look driving by Buckner Mansion.

Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies is an all-girls boarding school for witchcraft; this also acts as a safe haven for young witches and a pivotal location in Coven. It's a beautiful building, privately owned and just up the road from the Anne rice home.

Such a staple place to visit when you're visiting New Orleans! I loved going here since I'm such a huge fan of American Horror Story especially Coven. Going onto the property is definitely mesmerizing in person but when the owners are home it definitely feels like you're being rushed. Which I totally get! I wish I had more time here to look at the house but other than that it was a dream come true!

I impulsively stopped by here without doing my research. Being a huge AHS Coven fan, I saw this mansion pop up on Yelp and I had to stop by since I incorrectly assumed it was a museum. It is located a in a neighborhood a little farther away from main NOLA attractions so while I was out in this area, I made sure to stop by and not make a special trip. This is not a museum, and isn't tourable. The gates outside make this clear, since you can imagine they get a good deal of visitors. You can snap a photo or five and that's about it. Despite the lack of attractions, it is a beautiful house and well kept. Other than that, not much to see here.

First of all- I love American Horror story and can 100% see why Ryan Murphy would want to produce any kind of series here- this mansion is located in the garden district of New Orleans; around the corner and down the street from the famous Brevard mansion owned by Ann Rice. The back was open when we walked up to it- I am not going to lie it was tempting to walk back there as I saw a bunch of people- I soon recognized there were cameras not only all around the property but on the people themselves- they appeared to be recording. I turned the corner to find the Hollywood Films bus- they were filming NCIS- NOLA and we were able to chat with some of the extras. Great place for pictures especially if you have a go pro. Would love to have been able to take a tour inside, however, from what I gathered that is not really an option YET.

Such a beautiful part of New Orleans. We came here for my daughter. She wanted to see Buckner Mansion featured in American Horror Story. That was our first stop off the trolley. It was beautiful for sure, but the garden district soon became one of our favorite parts of our trip. We spent 3 hours plus just walking around....that included a quick dinner. Amazingly beautiful. Amazing history. The next time we go I want to do a guided tour of the Garden District so I can get more details of all the history. This is a mostly residential area, but there are commercial and locally owned businesses sprinkled throughout the area. Do not miss an opportunity to visit when you are in NOLA. I wish I'd taken more pictures.

From info on the house from DeepSouthMag.com: "The Buckner Mansion was built in 1856 by cotton magnate Henry S. Buckner. The mansion was built to outdo his ex-business partner's well-known Stanton Hall mansion in Natchez, Mississippi. The Buckner Mansion has galleries on three sides, an amazing honeysuckle motif cast iron fence and a triple ballroom. The mansion served as a home to the Buckner family until 1923, when the prestigious Soule Business School moved in. Soule was the best business school in the South until it closed doors in 1983. The mansion is now a private residence, available as a vacation rental for the tidy sum of $20,000. According to the show's Facebook page (American Horror Story) "Extreme precaution was taken to not damage the 156-year-old mansion." It's a popular photo spot in the Garden District though, so join the other fans parked in front for a photo opp." Visiting the mansion is a super short trip -- take the St. Charles Streetcar to Jackson Street. Walk down Jackson to Coliseum; it's right on the corner! You can't do much but take pictures, but if you're a fan of American Horror Story on AMC -- this is totally worth visiting while you're in town. It's my 2nd time visiting the spot .. It never gets old.

There is a lot of history behind Buckner Mansion, but my real reason for wanting to visit it in person is that it played home to Coven, one of my favorite seasons of American Horror Story. Currently, the mansion is a private residence covered with no loitering signs, although I didn't let that stop me from a quick visit. Much like you would expect the house looks almost exactly like it did on the show. Getting to the mansion was extremely easy, and just a short walk off the St. Charles Street car line down Jackson. There isnt much to do near the estate, unless you like walking the streets of the Garden District which can be fun especially when taking in some of the old homes and overall atmosphere.

I'd be lying if I said I've ever seen an episode of AHS but I know my Mom has and I'm pretty sure she was a fan. I wanted to bring her here to see Buckner Mansion since we were in New Orleans together. Cool stop! I hope she enjoyed it.

Even seeing the neighborhood around it is a pleasant experience. Just be warned, if you're driving, there are speed cameras on some of the streets surrounding this block.

What a cool thing to see. This house is huge! I wish I could get a tour of the inside. If you watched American Horror Story you should def stop by and check out this house. There was a woman gardening in the backyard.

So it's privately owned. And I knew that before going but after seeing AHS COVEN. Ofcourse it had to be a must see. And I wasn't disappointed. So happy I got to visit the mansion. It's gorg from outside. Took some great pics as well. It was crowded outside there tho many people came to see it and were all dressed as witches. Loved the vibes there.

As an American Horror Story fan this was a must stop destination because I mean it's the coven mansion! When I found out that this was close to my hotel I immediately started walking because I wanted pictures. It was so cool to stop here and check out such an important location in the show.

The French Quarter, also known as the "Vieux Carre" is the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans. It…read moreis also simply called, "The Quarter." It encompasses the land along the Mississippi River from Canal Street to Esplanade Avenue (13 blocks) and inland to North Rampart Street (seven to nine blocks) and totals 78 square blocks. Everyone should experience the French Quarter at least once! On one trip to New Orleans, I stayed in an historic hotel in the French Quarter, which made that trip very unique and memorable! It's home to Jackson Square which is a 2.5 acre historic landmark park. Preservation Hall, home to the famous Preservation Jazz Band is a must do in the French Quarter. The House of Blues in the French Quarter was the site of a great Billy Idol show my Sorority Sisters and I saw a few years ago. Pat O'Brien's Bar is a fun stop, with a lively courtyard, famous for their hurricanes, and dueling piano entertainment in their piano lounge. I absolutely love the Old Absinthe House in the French Quarter! It's very intimate, rich with history and folklore, built in 1806 and the location of the creation of the Absinthe House Frappe in 1874. It's very interesting to watch the bartenders make Absinthe, which involves a flame and a spoon. Personally, I don't like absinthe; however, I recommend everyone try it (especially here) at least once to decide for yourself! The Dungeon, also in the French Quarter, was a fun destination club to visit. Back then, it opened at midnight (I'm not sure of their hours of operation today) and again, is quite the intimate place and renowned for being the rock n roll hangout for Kiss, Queen, ZZ Top, 38 Special, and more. Cafe Du Monde is another "must do" in the French Quarter! Do try their coffee and beignets! The chicory flavor is unique and the coffee here is very good especially served au lait! The French Quarter is the original Cafe Du Monde New Orleans location which today is over one dozen locations in NOLA. Do not pass up the opportunity to try the original muffuletta sandwich at the world famous Central Grocery! These are giant, delicious sandwiches and seriously, one sandwich feeds two adults easily. There is always a line at Central; however, it moves quickly. Get a jar of their Muffuletta Olive Salad to go! Do visit the French Quarter and laizzez les bons temps rouler!

What can be said about the French Quarter that hasn't already been written a thousand times?…read more Plenty--once you see it the right way. If you've never been, skip the chaos of Mardi Gras and visit during the quieter stretches of mid-spring, preferably during the day. That's when the Quarter reveals itself. The crowds thin just enough to let you move at your own pace, to look up at the wrought-iron balconies, to hear the music before you see the musician, and to take it all in without fighting your way through it. History here isn't something you read about--it surrounds you. Spend time at Jackson Square, anchored by its iconic statue of Andrew Jackson, and framed by the stunning St. Louis Cathedral. Artists line the square, musicians fill the air, and street performers remind you that this city doesn't separate culture from daily life--it lives it. And then there's the food and music--both deeply rooted, unapologetically bold, and unmistakably New Orleans. Yes, the flavors can lean spicy, but the kitchens here know their audience. Just speak up, and they'll meet you where you are. But here's the truth: no photograph, no movie, no travel piece ever quite captures this place. The French Quarter isn't something you observe--it's something you experience. And once you do, you'll understand why people keep coming back, trying to put into words what is, at its core, impossible to fully explain.

Wow. It has been a while since this place has been reviewed and man has things changed. This Plaza…read moreis currently under construction and is a wide open waterfront space that overlooks the Mississippi River towards Algiers. It is located between the old ferry terminal and the CityWalk shops. The main feature of the Plaza is a large fountain. It has now changed Its inner portion use to be lined with the seals of the provinces of Spain and you could also be able to walk right down to the fountain. With the renovation, both of those features are now gone. You will also find a Mardi Gras Jester statue here too. This is where one of the river cruise tour boats are docked. I did not see many benches of places to sit here, outside of sitting on the fountain and there is not much shade other than that from the Market Place and World Trade Center. There are paid parking lots, metered street parking and garages available to park, but they are all a short walk. Nothing is really close. There use to be a Fat Tuesday and seafood restaurant here, but that has since gone due to the construction. In 1976, Spain dedicated the plaza to the City in remembrance of their common historical past. It also served as a pledge of fraternity in the future. It was originally named Eads Plaza, after James Eads, the engineer who improved the navigability of the mouth of the Mississippi River. You get one of the best views of the Mississippi River Bridge from here. That is the bridge that connects the city's East and West Banks. Fun fact: This is where the Rex Crew land every year on Fat Tuesday to kick off Mardi Gras Day. The space hosts music concerts, art exhibits, rallys and festivals. I like this park, mostly for what it was in the past and what it can be. Currently there is not much here except the fountain, which is a nice one. I hope that this place reaches it potential soon. It will be awesome again.
