The first guy I met was not very nice and I could sense he wasn't going to be helpful from his tone. He kept going on about how it was impossible to take my passport photo et al and even after I told him the only other option was in Manchester, he still said it was not possible. I got very frustrated and left the building. I went to cool off for about an hour and came back to the post office to see another attendant, his name tag was "Brian". He offered to help and I was done and dusted with the whole process in a matter of minutes. I don't know the first guys name but he was a little chubby, I won't be going to him in the future; all I can say is "Thank God for Brian", he was really kind and i'ld recommend going to him any day.

I'd sooner hike up to the Hardman Street Post Office where it's a bit quieter! It's also absolutely roasting in here! so dress in shorts and t shirts if you're going in and it's not snowing outside! Saying that though, they have a nifty little Beaureu de Change up there two, with three windows, that never seems to have huge queues, so if your game to kill two birds with one stone, then today's your lucky day! If your after stamps or posting a letter then I suggest you go to a quieter shop and then a post box! They sell all the usual suspects for a post office, envelopes, stamps, stationary, etc etc etc

I realize you can't always staff enough people to make this place run smoothly on a busy lunch hour, and I appreciate that they have started allowing people who only want to purchase stamps or post a letter to cut the line, so to speak, but surely there is more that can be done? And you please sort out the heating/air conditioning? Please. The only thing worse than standing in a post office line for over an hour is standing in that line in sweltering heat. And not being the best form-filler-out-erer (or English speaker apparently) I went to the Post Office on Leece Street with my tenously filled form and decided to get the Check and send service which they provide there. Seriously. That lady Saved my life. Firstly, my tutor forgot the countersign her countersign form. Oops. Anyway, she set me straight gave me the right advice, and volia 2 weeks later, my passport has arrived on my doorstep. No fretting just sorted. If there wasn't a glass partition I coulda kissed her she was so helpful! And she suggested, that as they don't check and send the Provisional driving licenses, where to go. (No more silly passport as ID) Done and Dusted!

Never mind, I though, I'll kill two birds with one stone, and sent off a letter that I had been meaning to post. First, I had wait for the only person behind the desk. There was one, and about 9 people in the queue. The shop was small with some laptop stand selling laptops, a cage with buckets and spades and some adverts plastering the walls advertising the latest 'earn £1000's from your lender scheme. I felt incredibly sorry for the elderly lady being sold a core solo laptop running XP with 512MB of RAM by a gentleman working in the shop. Anyway, got to the counter, and was met by a right grump. I greeted her, to be faced with nothing but a blank stare. Due to the plexiglass being closed, I she couldn't understand a word I said, and I had to repeat myself several times. Next, it came to asking for my wife's parcel. She fetched it, brought it back to me, and asked for ID. Fair enough, a letter to the house I produced, with my name on, but the same delivery address. Anyway, I was told this was not a proper form of ID as it was not my wife's, despite the same delivery address. The attendant refused to give me my wife's parcel, and insisted she will only give it to my wife in person. Great. I then had to go and buy the same dog food elsewhere, and take a right earful for not getting the parcel. Thanks Smithdown Road PO. Please, whoever reads this, DO NOT GO THERE. Just walk down the road to Allerton Road PO, where the staff are much more friendly.

This is my local post office and I go here often. It is a large post office , split into two…read morebusinesses. The main post office is at the rear. All the cards and gifts are paid separately at the front. There are always queues when I go. In some cases I find myself waiting 15-20 minutes. All (except one) of the staff are really friendly. How they manage to keep smiling and having a laugh all day long is beyond me. They also do foreign currency, passports etc but NO CAR TAX. If you park outside please check the parking restrictions. The attendants are always out in force booking drivers who have parked illegally.
