I would never normally dream of writing a review for an institution as large and as well known as…read morethe Post office as I thought there would be very little to say and also very little to differentiate one branch from another but this particular branch impressed me greatly. The staff here are absolutely great and when I was having a nightmare with my passport application they did their best to help and instruct me whilst also giving me helpful information and generally being very friendly about it indeed. In some branches of the Post Office the staff can be slow and as such the ques can stretch to outside the store but here this is most certainly not the case. The staff are fast and efficient and this means that you never have to waste too much time in your busy schedule waiting around after other people. On the whole the distinguishing feature here is the attitude and brilliant work rate of the staff and they most certainly deserve a pat on the back for that.

I'm not sure if this Post Office is unique or if there is an effort to upgrade the locations and motivate the stuff but I do know I'm going back to this one every time I need to mail something. The place is spotless and brightly lit which already gives you a good feeling of professionalism. I went there around 5pm on a Wednesday (dreading the fact I'd likely get stuck in the after work queues) but to my surprise it was mostly empty and yet there were still 4 staff at the counters. Within seconds I was called over (they have a number system but I didn't see any place to grab a number) and one of the friendliest post office guys I've ever met dealt with my request and I was in and out in under 5 minutes. However, what really impressed me (because I'm a boy and we like toys) were the automatic post stations. Like a self checkout at Sainsbury's, you can take your letter, weigh it, print out the stamp, slap it on, and drop it in the slot. I reckon this is what helps keep their lines down as most of the time you are just trying to send a package or letter through regular mail. It's only when you need to have it sent by registered mail or take advantage of the non-mail services offered do you need the counter. Brilliant! Overall, an incredibly pleasant experience far above my expectations. Win.

Perfect for a little trim in the cuts…read more Went to the Post Office today, after Parcelfarce decided to drop off a box of dog food, addressed to my wife. Never mind, I though, I'll kill two birds with one stone, and sent off a letter that I had been meaning to post. First, I had wait for the only person behind the desk. There was one, and about 9 people in the queue. The shop was small with some laptop stand selling laptops, a cage with buckets and spades and some adverts plastering the walls advertising the latest 'earn £1000's from your lender scheme. I felt incredibly sorry for the elderly lady being sold a core solo laptop running XP with 512MB of RAM by a gentleman working in the shop. Anyway, got to the counter, and was met by a right grump. I greeted her, to be faced with nothing but a blank stare. Due to the plexiglass being closed, I she couldn't understand a word I said, and I had to repeat myself several times. Next, it came to asking for my wife's parcel. She fetched it, brought it back to me, and asked for ID. Fair enough, a letter to the house I produced, with my name on, but the same delivery address. Anyway, I was told this was not a proper form of ID as it was not my wife's, despite the same delivery address. The attendant refused to give me my wife's parcel, and insisted she will only give it to my wife in person. Great. I then had to go and buy the same dog food elsewhere, and take a right earful for not getting the parcel. Thanks Smithdown Road PO. Please, whoever reads this, DO NOT GO THERE. Just walk down the road to Allerton Road PO, where the staff are much more friendly.

I agree with Megan on this one, it's a complete pain in the arse! I'd sooner hike up to the Hardman Street Post Office where it's a bit quieter! It's also absolutely roasting in here! so dress in shorts and t shirts if you're going in and it's not snowing outside! Saying that though, they have a nifty little Beaureu de Change up there two, with three windows, that never seems to have huge queues, so if your game to kill two birds with one stone, then today's your lucky day! If your after stamps or posting a letter then I suggest you go to a quieter shop and then a post box! They sell all the usual suspects for a post office, envelopes, stamps, stationary, etc etc etc

I realize you can't always staff enough people to make this place run smoothly on a busy lunch hour, and I appreciate that they have started allowing people who only want to purchase stamps or post a letter to cut the line, so to speak, but surely there is more that can be done? And you please sort out the heating/air conditioning? Please. The only thing worse than standing in a post office line for over an hour is standing in that line in sweltering heat. Aside from that--I actually like that this post office is inside WH Smith's because it means while I'm there I can feed my pen and notebook addiction, and browse the latest writing magazines.

The first guy I met was not very nice and I could sense he wasn't going to be helpful from his tone. He kept going on about how it was impossible to take my passport photo et al and even after I told him the only other option was in Manchester, he still said it was not possible. I got very frustrated and left the building. I went to cool off for about an hour and came back to the post office to see another attendant, his name tag was "Brian". He offered to help and I was done and dusted with the whole process in a matter of minutes. I don't know the first guys name but he was a little chubby, I won't be going to him in the future; all I can say is "Thank God for Brian", he was really kind and i'ld recommend going to him any day.
