The first paragraph is for the park itself, the second is for the restaurant / bar. The Park is absolutely beautiful! We showed up to the resort with no reservations and they had spots available for reasonable prices. Despite having guest wifi, It is pretty remote- so if you need to stop for fresh groceries your last chance is Ringo's. However, There is a store at the resort with drinks, snacks, alcohol, and fishing gear. There are boat and paddle board rentals for activities on the lake. While camping in July, the weather was nice and cool and only ever got close to hot around noon. At night it would get a little chilly but if you have blankets you'd be fine. There was a bear one night that climbed a tree above our campsites, but the park staff made sure to monitor it completely and have supplies on hand. It peacefully went back into the woods the next night. We went swimming in the lake and there were tons of crawfish, they didn't bite of pinch, just swam away backwards or sometimes accidentally walked on your feet lol. Overall it was super great. There is a restaurant at the resort with inside and outside seating. There is a bar indoor with wine, bottled drinks, and supplies/spirits for mixed drinks. We went Sunday night and they happened to have a live concert going outside. My expectations for the food quality were pretty low, and then I got the food and was BEYOND SURPRISED! The chicken sandwich was large and crispy, the fried okra was fresh. And as someone who has never had green chile- my mind was blown! I would definitely plan on eating here again if I was staying at the park/resort. read more

We reserved and paid via phone a cabin for the last weekend of May (2018). They guy that did the reservations told us our cabin number and offered to give us the receipt in person. We arrived on time for check-in and got the key to 'our cabin', when we open the door, surprise, it was another family in the cabin! We went back to the office and the receptionist said that this happen a lot, because some people do the reservations trough the phone and others trough the website. What? How irresponsable! He also explained that each cabin have 2 keys and that he keep one of the keys and the cabin occupants get the second key. He didn't understand why this cabin have 3 keys. But the true is that the front desk was so messy, towers of papers everywhere, the guy moved some stuff to get to the other stuff, it's was pretty bad. At the end, he called the owner and he agreed to give us another cabin. It is sad that they are so disorganized because the place outside is pretty and the cabins are not bad. I took a lot of pictures in the cute lake and enjoy the company of some friends that were staying in the campgrounds (trailers area) in front of the lake. read more

This is my second rating since our first visit in 2020... and I almost don't want to let people in on this little gem- don't want the secret to get out! If you're sick of sitting in I-70 traffic and dealing with the mountain crowds, this is the place to go. We have stayed at both the hotel and the cabins and while they're pretty basic and barebones, they're clean and the beds are comfy and the showers are hot. The views are incredible and the people are laid back and friendly. Very easy going. Food at the restaurant is tasty. We've never camped here but the sites look really nice. read more

You could not ask for a more beautiful setting. It's a nice campground right on the lake with beautiful views. It has a wonderful restaurant and a small bar. There are cabins and a small motel there as well. The restroom and shower buildings were very clean. This is all In a forest setting. Whether you are just there to tent or you have a large rig, they can accommodate anyone. The fishing is great, the boating is wonderful and the hikes are long and scenic. The only negative thing I have to say (which did not effect my rating) is the check in process. Upon pulling in we stopped at the check-in booth where I was asked my last name then handed a parking pass and told where my site was. Unfortunately I was not informed about the Wi-Fi code nor was I handed a campground map. After I got set up I just made my way down to the main office and gathered everything I needed. I made a reservation for a three night stay at the monument lake resort in Weston Colorado. I Made the reservation a couple of months ago, paying both for not only the spot for the trailer but you also get charged to park your vehicle . We have a 26 ft long trailer pulled by Chevy truck. we drove for hours to get to the resort only to find out the space allotted to us would not even be big enough for even a small 16 footer trailer with no space for your vehicle. When we tried to get help found out no one was available, they leave at 3 and you are not allowed to check in till 3. Now we understand why can't check in until they are already gone. We contacted security and they tried to suggest a gravel parking lot or space with broken electric hookup or no hookup at all. This so called resort was the worst experience we have ever had with camp sites. In talking with some of the other campers this so called resort has very poor management that does this to customers on a daily basis. Would not recommend at all, poor management and even worse customer service. read more

This place changed our lives. We drove into the San Isabel National Forest on Memorial Day weekend with our tent, no reservations and no idea where we would be able to stay for the weekend. As we trekked it further into the woods (for almost an hour) with our 2 kids we began thinking we might be in trouble when we stumbled across this little sign and almost missed the turn in. Once inside we found a friendly lady in the office that informed us she just happened to have some spots left but not for long. I think they were around $40/night. We were allowed to chose from any spot along the lake (this is where we started to get excited) with a fire box. After notifying us to put our food in our car so bears wouldn't try to get into our tents we went ventured ahead sure that the prettiest spots would already be taken. Our first view of the lake blew our minds. It's surrounded by mountains on both sides and you can see one of the Spanish Peaks in the background. There are tall trees everywhere and the tent spaces are incredible!! We could not have asked for a better spot and a week later we are still reeling from how lucky we got when we happened upon this park. With our tent right at the edge of the water and a stream running along the side we literally could not have asked for anything more. My 6 year old pulled in his first trout(s) here, my 2 year old sang while sitting on a log looking at the lake. It was truly magical. They had a restaurant with surprisingly good food, a store with anything you could really need in a pinch, clothing if you didn't pack enough, firewood, cabins, fish cleaning station, fishing and tackle items for sale. It was the whole package. The only downside is there were no showers. I was told the City of Trinity owns the park and they were "keeping up the bathrooms" and basically they became a health hazard they were so bad. So they decided to shut them down. We found a solution though!! The owners of the Cuchara Inn (Dani is her name) which is just up the mountain about 20 minutes (along a beautiful drive through the San Isabel forest) offered to let us use their showers in the Inn. She was happy to share them and even asked me to let other people know they are available so problem solved! Not only is Cuchara adorable but the shower was hot and the food at Luke's BBQ was awesome too!! Sooooo overall everything was perfect. Monument Park is a MUST SEE, MUST STOP, MUST DO atleast once. The lake is beautiful. The camping and lodge rooms are kind of pricy but it's a beautiful lake with nice mountain views. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I was especially pleased with the manager he was so happy go lucky and cheery. We had a good day there. Our second day it was so windy it was kind of uncampable but hey not the resort fault . The cabins were nicely renovated but very price. They refused to rent us oars for our kayaks, stating the oars were for boat rentals only. checking back several times throughout the day there did not seem to be any boat rentals that day and the oars were not being used. This is just plain hateful and unaccommodating to their guests. We will not be back for the rest of this summer, hopefully they change their policy. read more

Beautiful place. I grew up here and have always loved it, however last Saturday I was appalled by who I am assuming is in charge. My sister needed to use the restroom so we went into the dining area to hear a lady in the back bad mouthing a guest for needing towels and saying guest needed to leave her the F only because they were busy. Mind you all of us could hear her very well. Later that night I saw her again with the same bad attitude. read more

The RV camp sites are too close to each other. The access roads are rough enough that I had to put my truck in 4wd. There is not enough space to back the RV in. Very poorly planned. The campers next to us had 5 dogs. Some were off leash and one barked continuously. They were also smoking cigarettes outside in a Stage 2 fire ban. The management had no idea what was allowed. Management didn't address any of these issues. We got a refund and left. read more

Went here last summer. The environment is beautiful, although it is so far away from town that we really thought we were driving the wrong way for a long time. The atmosphere is nice, and the cabins are almost like little hotel rooms. They are clean, private, nicely decorated, heated, and include coffee and maid service. Ours even had a fireplace (although we never really got it going for long because the wood was terrible and no kindling was provided). But we had a few experiences with staff that really dragged down the experience. We were given keys to a cabin with one queen bed, when we had 4 in our party. There are many ways this mix up could have happened, so no loss of stars there. But when my husband tried to correct the problem, he was told that all the cots were taken, and they tried to up-sell us to a larger cabin to the tune of $110 per night more. I had read on their website that air mattresses are available, so we went back to the office and explicitly asked for an air mattress. Boom. From the magical back room, they (somewhat reluctantly) produced an air mattress and several bags of bedding (all labeled), as well as a pump. They were clearly prepared for this, but never offered it when we asked for a cot. Better to ask for money, and hope we didn't know better, I guess. Next unfortunate experience was that we really got a lot of attitude from the office staff when asking for help with "forgotten things". We are out in the middle of absolutely nowhere and we have a bunch of kids with us. Stuff happens and it's not like you can run to Target or something. The worst situation was when I asked if they had a hairdryer. Now, if this were tent camping, I would not expect them to have a hairdryer. But we had rented a really nice cabin that was like a mini hotel room -- a full bathroom, coffee service, and maid service. Hotels and motels these days have hairdryers...right? Not here. But not having a hairdryer would have been ok -- I could accept that. But the people in the office actually laughed at my request, and looked at me like I was crazy. That's just rude, and for no reason. Other than that, the facilities were nice. Next time, I would bring a hairdryer. And something better for the fireplace. read more

Let me start by saying the lake is BEAUTIFUL. We had been here for the day prior and decided to reserve an RV spot this time. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT waste your money on reserving a space. The spot assigned was so packed, we would not have been able to open our door. When we went to the front office, they basically responded "yeaah I know" - coming out of COVID stay at home it was extra concerning. No one in the office had a mask either (first place in CO ive seen this) The gal said we could find a first come first serve spot, since ours was unusable, so we drove around and luckily did. We called the office to let them know, and she had said to come by tomorrow and theyll sort out the price difference (since at this point it was late and we would have had to walk back). Fast-forward to the next day, met with EXTREMELY rude staff (including the manager who walked right by and ignored us) Flat out said they know its crowded, and its because its 25' limits (which we have under) but they don't monitor so everyone else had over (seems like something should be done there?) and that they dont want to refund us because they lose money. I was a little surprised by the reaction so I confirmed the conversation - yes they know its crowded, no they dont monitor the sizes (even though then not everyone will fit who paid to reserve a spot), yes theyve had complaints before and multiple people have left with no refund. Yet no solution youre just SOL, pay for something that does not exist, and if you don't find a first come camping spot, thats just too bad. If you go, have as little contact with those working as you can. They get away with the terrible service because you cant beat the area. Its unfortunate. Also, EVERY garbage bin around the camp site had not been emptied the 3 days we were there - some overflowing and pouring out the back which completely defeats the purpose of having a bear safe garbage bin and led to garbage flying around the property...sad. read more

Beautiful surroundings~great place to fish and walk around....food in restaurant is amazing and the staff are super friendly and down to earth, loved that! Love the entire environment, beautiful scenery. Desk staff could be a little more hospitable but were not terrible. Rugs in room were dirty, and we can tell our bathroom floor had not been swept/mopped, and worse yet the shower had not been cleaned. Because the rooms are on the lake, and because everything was great except what I mentioned, I will come back but with cleaning supplies....... read more
