For example, my son enjoyed his classes turned in all of his assignments, and was excited to be a student at PTC. Unfortunately he received an F in all of classes in the first quarter. However when I calculated his grade by hand he received 3 B's and 2 C's. I contacted the instructors to let them know about the discrepancies and they replied that the system automatically calculated the grades. Therein lies the problem. The instructor did not assign several assignment that were worth 12 points each but the system automatically calculated the points for those assignment resulting in lowering his grade from a C to an F. Additionally, PTC is deceptive about the qualification of the instructors. For example in the faculty profiles the critical thinking teacher is a male with 15 years of experience. However the critical thinking teacher for my son was a female and she was not included in the faculty profile page. Shady to say the least.

Whether for film festivals, librabry visits, collabs with the art school I attended, seeing President Obama speak, or attending ska shows (that's right, back in the day it was the place to be for a good show), I have spent a lot of time on campus. It was a nice walk from my place in Bloomfield as well. The campus is beautifully landscaped with gorgeous buildings. The architecture is just wonderful. Staff and faculty that I have come in contact with over the years are stellar human beings.

While browsing the Carnegie farmer's market I came across a vendor who had this store's goods out…read morefront on a table for sale. There was a nice assortment of things to choose from including fingerless gloves and beautiful pottery mugs. They told me if I want to see more then head into the store. I did just that and got to meet up with the owner Eva and learn more about the business. Various artists from all over the country contribute their wares to this shop and some are even local. You can find most anything here from crafted "aliens" to wooden Nativity sets to various types of jewelry, glass, pottery and of course beautiful paintings that adorn the walls. Even Eva herself has some of her own works for sale here. There is so much to look at. She also told me some of the artists do charitable work and you can purchase things such as "cuff" bracelets that will signify the artist who created the piece. The drink mugs were beautiful and some of them had Bible verses on them. I was admiring a green one with a flower on the handle and then I learned that she hoped to get more selection in from this seller within the next week or so. I decided to hold off on my purchase until I saw what was coming in. Some of the merchandise can be pricey but it all depends up the work that is put into them. For example an artist, she was selling had hand drawn images of a few of Pittsburgh's landmarks as a cuff bracelet. It's a bit pricey but she told me all the labor that goes into making the design can be time consuming. They offer workshops and events from time to time. Most of the art is contemporary style with at least 20 different artists in emerging to mid career levels. Check out their on line shop if you want to learn more or make a purchase directly from your home. This shop is currently open Thurs-Sun only and of course you can walk in when the farmer's market is going on. Am definitely planning to return here so I can browse more of the collection. Besides the gallery space, they teach art classes and you can drop in at various times for open studio. I attended their grand opening last night and it was wall to wall people, just amazing how many people turned out. The gallery is part of some exciting changes in the neighborhood. A new coffee shop is opening right next door, and a brewery is opening across the street.
