We sent our son to Stone Hill Learning Center from kindergarten through tenth grade. I always…read moreconsidered Stone Hill Learning Center a prep school a la carte. You can pick the classes you want to take and either do the rest at home or find other venues. We took full advantage of the school, leaving only math that my brilliantly mathematical husband covered for my son and some of his peers in our own home. Stone Hill offers classical education -- the humanities and sciences, as well as language -- in small classes, at a very rigorous pace, and at very affordable rates. By high school most students qualify for advanced classes in just about every subject. Our own son elected to take college classes at Rutgers and Temple his junior and senior years of high school and now he is graduating college in three years; a huge saving for us. Stone Hill definitely prepared him for the rigors of college education. Homeschooling is a great way to develop and educate your child, and Stone Hill Learning Center is a huge help in providing a disciplined learning environment, high academic standards, and fellowship among other demanding homeschoolers. Taking a full load of classes just three days a week, Tuesdays through Thursdays, gives your student an excellent education with plenty of time for your student to explore his or her creative endeavors or for long weekend field or family trips. We are so glad and grateful we found Stone Hill Learning Center during our son's homeschooling years.

Monroe Township High School is a newer school, less than 10 years old. My oldest daughter is a…read morestudent there. The school is large and fairly modern with an adequate amount of parking for school events. The unfortunate part about the school is that it is just about at capacity and the student population in Monroe continues to grow. That being said, the children are getting a quality education in a modern facility. For the most part the children do not have textbooks, their curriculum can be found on their school provided iPad. The children's grades are all found online and the teachers are accessible. The school offers a large variety of sports, and other extra curricular activities. Overall the children seem happy and take pride in their school.

A unique element of the CP curriculum is that it is a dual English/Spanish language program with some subjects being taught in English and others (like math) taught in Spanish. The CP academic program and teachers prepare students well in core subjects while also preparing to read and speak an additional language. Overall, I am pleased with CP. My kids are developing well and seem to be pretty happy there.

We were quite disappointed with Community Park. One of our son's kindergarten classmates was quite…read moreuncontrolled and sent him to the nurse after punching him repeatedly at lunch. This incident was followed up with others, including a chokehold while being pushed down the slide and one where he was dragged around the playground. The school was unable to change this situation, with one of the incidents happening the very afternoon after we'd had meetings with his teacher and the school counselor. We were directly told that our son, "needed to stand up for himself more," and that the school, "had no disciplinary policy." We ultimately transferred him midyear to the Wilberforce School, which has been superb. We had other less serious disappointments in the school. The library sent home books that were often not even aimed at the right age. At scholastic day, after encouraging us to send money with our son to buy books, he was sold direct commercial advertising for ninjago (compete with figurine) and dc comics. The classroom experience that seemed most prominent to him was the time spent playing an iPad game with the refrain, "I am a kitty cat, meow." We thought well of his teacher but had evidence that the school lacked a coherent educational philosophy and certainly was unable to deal with violent incidents at lunch and on the playground.
