The toddler program is exceptional but once you get to primary, and beyond, it gets worse and worse. Most of us with issues just cut and run and want to forget this school. The school pays a lot more attention to the parents who donate and have multiple children and if you're a doctor or "known" person in the area. The school does a bad job with transparency ie teachers leaving and then you're stuck not being able to make the best decision for your child. The primary teacher was trying really hard to sell the third year and we stayed then they really sold Junior 1 and we stayed. Wish we had left earlier.

You may perceive Montessori as lax but in reality it's non rigid structure with super attentive teachers providing far more comfort and opportunities for a child to learn. We have only had great experiences with the staff, teachers and community for two years now and their commitment to their program and emphasis on communication and feedback is intangible. They also work very hard to keep your schedule consistent for you while caring for your child. PS tracking each action and sending updates & pictures via an app, very nice.

My children attended this school and were happy there. It was the only school they had known, and they had built relationships, routines, and a sense of stability within that environment. When our family experienced financial hardship due to job loss, we were no longer able to meet the tuition requirements. As a result, our children were asked to leave. I understand that private schools operate as businesses and rely on tuition. However, what was difficult was the lack of flexibility, support, or transition planning for the children. The process felt abrupt, and there was little acknowledgment of the emotional impact on them. For young children, being removed from their school environment is not just a logistical change, it's a significant emotional disruption. That part did not seem to be considered in how the situation was handled. I'm sharing this so other parents are aware: If your financial situation changes, there may be limited options, and the outcome can be immediate. If you are considering this school, I would encourage you to ask detailed questions about: -financial aid policies during unexpected hardship -transition support if a family can no longer afford tuition -how the school supports children emotionally in those situations The education itself may be strong, but families should understand the full picture before committing.

We have been a Chapin family for eleven years…read more My older daughter had attended Chapin since pre-k and graduated last year. She was more than ready to take on the challenges of secondary school. Her freshman year was an academic success! Throughout her years at Chapin, she has grown to be an independent, well-rounded individual. She's not afraid to email teachers about assignments, ask questions when she is uncertain about something discussed during class, or voice her opinion about anything. We owe those positive attributes to Chapin. My younger daughter has also attended Chapin since pre-k. She continues to amaze us with how much she's learned in just a short amount of time. We owe that to the excellent Chapin teachers who not only educate their students but also care about their growth and development. My husband and I are excited for my little one to experience all that Chapin has to offer in the coming years. Chapin is an extraordinary school. The decision to send our children here is one of the best decisions that my husband and I have ever made.

Dear reader, I was so excited to have my son join the preschool school section of FAS ( French…read moreAmerican school). In June 2023, I reached out to the director of enrollment who came across as if she was going to sincerely assist me with this process. Six months later, I haven't received any decision regarding the enrollment. I reached out multiple times and was told the following is impacting the enrollment : vacations time, school's busy time, staff's busy time all with periods of no communication and I as a parent had to reach out multiple times to request for status. Finally I was given the opportunity to bring my 29 month old child for a class evaluation ( I was told evaluation was to see how my 2 year old without me being there will interact with other 2 -3 year olds and see if /when my 2 year old get upset if he can be comforted by the teacher). I brought my child in, please note this is the FIRST time my child is being exposed to everyone in the classroom. A few mins after I left I heard my son cry - he was realizing I was gone. I came back to check in as I was across the classroom and peeked via the small window and no adult was soothing/ comforting my child . I checked again via the window after a few minutes and no adult in the classroom was comforting my child . He was upset walking around the classroom by himself. The third time ( few minutes later) I came back headed to the classroom room. A separate teacher from another classroom was bringing my distressed child to me from his classroom as my child was apparently trying to get away. Kindly note that I was literally across the hall from the classroom. Please note that there was a teacher and a teacher's aide in the classroom where my son was. This broke my heart, I typically do not give any reviews but this is one I felt so compelled to give as I could only imagine what my son felt and had I not witnessed this experience I would have been none the wiser. This was my breaking point. I decided NOT to enroll my child in this school and move onto another school and will recommend anyone reading this to think twice about this school. I truly genuinely wanted to love this school as I believe in the idea of having a multilingual education and exposing my child to other cultures early in life. But after that experience by my child, the goal of experiencing multi language can be attained somewhere else, my child needs to be somewhere he feels safe and if he is upset he will be seen and soothed with care and I can also feel assured he is safe. In case the reader is wondering, I reached out to the director of enrollment and communicated my and my child's experience on that fateful "evaluation " day, I got an apology for my feelings and child's feelings she did not address anything else. I cannot say if this is the only time that a potential parent and child interested in this school experienced this encounter. I feel so strongly and so passionately to give this review as that was my experience and I will want to know as a parent of a young child, if I was interested in this school to have this honest review ahead of time. I wish I had this information going in. Since the young ones cannot speak up, parents don't be too far away and be available to check in to see the real experience your little one is receiving. If this is the school you feel compelled to send your little one. In summary, if I can give less than ONE star or zero star I will give it. Disappointment and hurt do not begin to express my feelings especially with the way my child was treated. I wish I was the one who was treated that way instead of my child.

They have a weekly class blog so that you know what is going on in the class. Its only been a month of school and they already learned how to do tallies, graphs, probability. Its very focused on the core academics. My son is taking the after school program so now he is learning 2 languages Mandarin and Spanish. I thought he would hate it instead he looks forward to it and comes home talking to me like hey do you know how to count in Spanish? (He learned this just after 1 week of class) They also have yoga classes and the teacher is amazing, he can't wait to show me all these poses. I have seen his confidence grow so much in the past month. In his previous school he was a very quick learner and I was worried he wouldnt be challenged and just bored. I couldn't be more wrong. They tailor the homework and work to your child and aren't afraid to push them. If you are looking at private schools, in my opinion PJS is the top tier. I toured all of them in the area, PDS, Chapin, Friends etc. and at the end I took a chance with PJS only because I loved the open space. I was worried that academically it might not have been up to par with the other private school or public schools (I live in one of the top districts in the area). I have two friends going to the private schools mentioned (Kindergarten) and PJS quite frankly raises the bar. I think it is because of the new curriculum they have been using. This is a great school. You will not be disappointed sending your child here, if I only knew then what I do now. The choice would have been a no brainer.

The school has helped him grow and learn, but most importantly PJS has helped him grow to love learning! In his lessons he has found a joy in discovery and growth and a curiosity that will serve him well for the rest of his life. Our PJS student tells me that "This school is the best! The teachers are all really nice, we have great lessons and projects, and we learn a lot!" The IB orientation helps to teach in a way that each individual student can get the most from the lessons. Being part of an international community as an IB school is present in the population of the school and the curriculum they teach. Princeton Junior School is not just important to our rising 5th grader. Our entire family has found a community in PJS that supports our child and all of us, that has introduced us to families that have become our friends, and that we are proud to be a part of. Our child is the most important thing in our lives, and Princeton Junior School is a place that has earned our trust and our gratitude in helping him develop and grow into a strong student and curious global citizen.

As a small school, every member of the community gets to know one another, and mixed-age groupings for events and some classes are the norm. Social and emotional well-being is something the staff take seriously and constantly review and address. PFS believes in the importance of outdoor learning, and often students can be found studying microbiology in a local stream, finding writing inspiration among the trees, and gaining confidence in themselves when working in the garden or exploring the woods. Teachers respect the authenticity and agency of each student, and encourage and empower them accordingly. I have worked at PFS for four years as a teacher and within the administrative team, and my sense is that the teachers who choose to be here do so because they truly care about the other members of the community, and enjoy the daily challenge of helping one another be our best selves. We seek to discover and nurture the joy in learning and in contributing to a community of folks who care for one another. Diverse learners are welcome at PFS and teachers and staff work hard to 'meet them where they are' while encouraging growth and student ownership of their learning. Students who need extra support at PFS are evaluated, and given accommodations in class and supported by a student study team. Families are encouraged to be active partners in the students' learning, and are welcomed regularly on campus for events. Teachers are in regular communication with families through student advisory teams, and there are many opportunities to connect through the Family Association.
