I'm pretty sure the NursingProgram is a scam that intentionally fails students, just so they have to retake a semester with them and go into the LPN program instead. I don't know why the school hasn't faced a class action lawsuit yet. The Medical Surgery coursework was is by far the biggest scam. Professors do not teach subjects well at all and exams are crazy, making you lose points if you get answers wrong. Honestly, after DOE decertifies nursing this program will almost certainly loose students. Clinical is great though. I can only imagine the discovery a lawsuit would uncover. read more

I love this institution, but their Website is absolutely the worst! Everyone in my family takes classes there for one reason of another and we all find that logging on, looking up classes and registering is always a complete nightmare! It is so frustrating that sometimes I feel like I'd rather not take the class then have to deal with their system. It really reflects poorly on the college. 6/11/20 I haven't been back to this college in years. The place has had a butt load of upgrades and renovations. I would as like to say the landscaping has improved from the pictures I have seen. When i went to this school, one of my favorite classes was fencing. I took this class three different times during the winter and spring time. This class offered Epee and Foil, but did not offer Saber. I enjoyed both teachings, but enjoyed the teachings of Foil more. There is more control in foil. If you were to ever watch men's Epee on television, you would see they are more aggressive and go in stabbing without blocking. It is more about speed and who can hit who the fastest. If you participate in Epee, your whole body is a target putting more realism into the fight...okay fight is to strong a word...let's call it practice. In Foil you may attack your opponent, but if you do not block your opponent's attack first, the judges might not count your attack and hit first. Blocking is an essential component of Foil. In case you are wondering what's the difference between Epee and Foil. Epee: your whole body is a target and who ever hits who first is the winner. Foil: your chest, down to your groin area. This includes the bottom neck area. In case your wondering, Saber's area of attack all upper body. With slashing attacks. Why not the lower body attacks. Think of being attacked by someone on a horse. The fatal areas are upper body area. This is where the upper body targets come into play *of course in a real duel to the death anything goes.* I found this class to be a lot of fun. I enjoyed going left handed throughout the whole class, then going right handed during the tournament. This little trick through off so many of my classmates/opponents. A slight step to the right or left and more targets open up on your opponent. For some reason I feel like I have written about fencing before. Oh well, ... I had a great time and so did some of my other classmates. read more

I am a student at Montgomery College. I began enrollment in January of 2023 for the Fall 2023 semester to have multiple no-show appointments and the wrong information given. Here it is again, Spring 2024 same issue. Montgomery College never showed up for 5 SCHEDULED appointments to speak to them about my financial aid and Summer II classes. I was informed by phone from the financial aid dept that everything was good to go. The Wednesday before class started I was informed by autogenerated email I owed money and would not be able to start classes on 7/8/2024 unless I came up with more money. I was made to sign a loan agreement from Montgomery College for a non-specified amount. For one class I was told my FAFSA and the College loan did not cover my one class. I had a meeting with Judy Taylor and again she was a no-show. I am not able to get any assistance from the college's Director of Compiance, Kristen Roe. She also has ignored my student complaint forms and requests for assistance. The college president Jermaine Williams has also been on the email chain and never taken the time to address any of the over 100 emails and requests for assistance.   I have at least 100 emails of me asking for help and being ignored by the college president and his staff. Now I am on the hook (have to pay back) money I can't use. They won't cancel the loan and they won't give me the money in the form of a check. They are keeping my FAFSA money and charging me for it. Don't send your child to early college at MC, bad leadership, that careless to provide supports and no good customer service. They have multiple issues at the admission level, counselors don't help, or respond to emails, calls go to voice message, and many don't even bother to return calls or emails, because they know nothing will happen to them. It's amazing to me, to see how they can still be in business when so many who want to get a degree struggling to get in due to lack of skills and noise at the college level would even help to answer questions that help that student to get enrolled, instead many at early college such as Akima Rogers and his team refer one to MC website for information, where quiet frankly information is missing or does not have answers that student is looking for. read more

Pro: big parking lot, modern building, garage parking, free ride on bus for student. Con: parking ticket, terrible councilor, high cost of textbook. The Montgomery College( MC) rockville campus is the most modern of all the 3 campuses. Back when I was taking classes on the rockville campus they were at times they would constantly remodel new building. Councilor were useless and a waste of time. My fist experience with them in 2012 was walk in where you would wait for a councilor to call you but now they use starfish to make appointments. The cost of textbook is always high for a class and then MC rarely buy them back. I would use chegg to rent a textbook for the semester. Teachers were so-so, I would use rate my professor to find a good teacher. If you didn't have your parking tag on display then expect a ticket. Back in 2012 MC rockville had like 12 parking lot but now they build a garage for more parking space. All in all, an ok community college to go to if you don't have a specific major in mind. read more

Worst college I ever attended, solely because of the counseling. They constantly misinform students on what they need to take which leads them to dropping out once they realize they just wasted a ton of time and resources on classes they didnt need. Don't believe me? Schedule to speak to a counselor about course completion in your major and then talk to another counselor, I never once got the same answers from their counselors. MC is the main reason why I got denied financial aid my last year at my university because I exceeded my credit hours. Thanks MC, now i have to figure out how im going to pay my rent and bills while only being 6 classes shy from my degree. read more

Montgomery College keeps it real. I took classes at MC on two different occasions; even though, I should have taken classes at MC on three different occasions. My first occasion was during my senior year in high school. My high school thought it would be a great opportunity for high school seniors to take college classes so they had a program where MC professors came to the high school to teach classes to seniors. I took one college class at my high school and I also commuted to MC at night to take an additional math class. I have no idea why I was so much more ambitious back in the day. That math class was really interesting. I was with such a random group of students and it really opened my eyes. There were working professionals, recent high school graduates, and two other high school students. One of the high school student was a high school sophomore and she was super cute. I should have definitely spat game and asked her out to my senior prom. Upon graduation, I attended a 4 year university for two years then transferred to another 4 year university for three years where I earned my bachelor's degree. I became a working professional then to satisfy my interest, I took Spanish classes. I will probably sign up for a music or fine art class in the nearby future. When reapplying for MC, I had to reactivate my MC account... which I have, understandably, forgotten. Thankfully, the people at MC had no qualms with assisting me and excavating my dust-laden files. _________________ In retrospect, if I had a redo after high school, I would have definitely attend and receive my associate's degree at MC then transfer to a 4 year university. High school seniors, if you stumble upon this review, let me persuade you why you should, happily, attend MC for two years. As a senior in high school, you are confronted with a lot of external pressures and expectations. My counselors expected me to attend a 4 year university. My parents expected me to attend a 4 year university. My friends expected me to attend a 4 year university. As a high achieving chink, there was an expectation, my future was all, but already sewn up: attend a 4 year university, major in a STEM-related field, go on to graduate school, then profit. I went on to a 4 year university wasted a two shitloads worth of money. I could have been way more economical in attending MC. MC would have probably pay for my tuition fees. You won't waste time durdling around, switching majors umpteen times, and be able to focus on your prerequisites as you decide what you want to study when you do transfer to a 4 year university. However, many seniors who were in my position care too much about their pride and what their fellow classmates will think about them. Let me tell you about the majority of your classmates. Unless you circle jerked with them in high school, you are going to lose contact with them. It happens. Friendships simply end. There´s no rhyme or reason for it, but the ebbs of time. In addition, too many high school seniors want to forget the place that made them and escape the shackles of home life. I got news for you, you can't escape home. You are a product of your hometown and any attempt to adopt a new identity will be a futile lie. Don´t forget where you came from. It gave more to you than you can ever give back. Lastly, MC is a wonderful place. The students who attend MC keep it real. MC is not its own social bubble like a 4 year university with its own campus and lifestyle. MC is part of reality for many of its students. In MC, you are going to attend classes with working professional. The majority of students have part-time or full-time jobs. There are going to be a good number of students who have children. There are going to be recent immigrants trying to make it here in America. And let´s not kid ourselves. The majority of students who attend MC were presented less options than the majority of students who attend 4 year university... Yet, the people who do attend MC are the students that deserve the opportunity to attend a prestigious 4 year university and can reap all the opportunities they can offer. They are the ones who actually care about higher education because they are paying their way through school. They are the ones who have more on the line to do well in college than rely on daddy's bank account... but that´s not how society works. For the most part, you are born into your social class. If you attend MC, you will learn to appreciate higher education. You will understand the struggles of the everyday man who has to provide for his children instead the struggles of a sorority girl who has to impress their little. You will save money or your parent's money. You will learn how to actually study and succeed in college if you are planning to transfer. You will be a better person having the opportunity to interact with real people with real problems in a real setting because Montgomery College keeps it real. read more

This is a pretty lil campus that has a gorgeous water feature, clean campus and I saw a sign for student child care which must be convenient for parents attending classes. Took my daughter for her SAT exam and thought the campus was lovely. Campus is convenient to MoCo. read more

I truly recommend anyone looking to go to a community college, don't choose this school. You're left on your own to figure things out in order to graduate. Which I understand they want students to learn to be independent, but isn't one of the jobs of faculty and staff at a college to help students be in the right path to get a degree? If you need help there, they will send you to one person after another just to get one little thing done. You're not promised to graduate in two years, the amount of time that they promise students it takes to get an associates degree. I know many people who have started at MC in 2015 from graduating high school and they're still at MC and it's 2019. Make sure MC knows you're a student there, because anytime I go to the registrars office or to anyone and they ask me for my Mnumber they tell me it doesn't come up. Even though I have an MC ID that clearly shows my m number. I have been trying to figure out the last class I needed in order to get my degree. Not only is the registrar unhelpful but they're also rude. I switched my degree, and my new degree only required me to take one more class. I followed the outline of my degree and signed up for a class, just to get a degree evaluation in the mail after the class started. To be told that the class I signed up for was the wrong class. Then I had to email Marjorie Davis and tell her I was following the outline. I finally get an email back after the class had already started that I was taking the right class. Not to mention after the two month long class had just ended, I get a letter in the mail stating I took the wrong class and won't be able to graduate. So as I read that of course I freaked out. I email the lady in the registrars office and get kind of rude reply back saying "If you read the letter carefully , you would see that it's for the spring 2019 graduation application that you submitted." If you don't mind never graduating in a timely manner, than by all means go to MC. I really suggest to avoid MC. read more

Worst community college in this county. I needed a counselor's approval to take a class. Advising room is packed and wait for my turn. I notice a counselor surfing on Facebook and some blog before taking another student. Seriously? As I finally get to my counselor. Counselor takes aloong time looking through my records to approve me. Also counselor is typing a finger at a time. He comes across my bad parts of my grades and ask what the class I'm trying to get into is needed for. I tell him pre-requisite for vet school. Tells me, "you're not getting into vet school like this". I know vet school is hard to get in, but it seems that all the counselors in montgomery college love to judge you and tell you you're not getting in. Thanks for the support. Finally it's been taken care of, but the thing is he tells me " you better not get anymore C's" in a loud voice. Some people look up and I'm embarrassed. So much for my privacy. While this does not apply to all teachers, but there are teachers who do not use Blackboard so my grades are not posted. I have to keep asking what my grade it. Also, the grades that the school posts are mid-terms and finals, which is very useless in tracking your grades as anything can go up or down in between. Also they apparently cancel classes if there's not enough people taking it, which happened to me, they notify you only 5 days before classes start. Some say that's enough time, but what took it so long to verify there wasn't enough students? Payment dead line was Jan 1st. This class had 35 limit seats and two lab classes which only seats 16. Lecture has 17 students registered and my lab class gets cancelled. Now the 17 students scramble to get the 16 seats. Guess who didn't get it, because they couldn't fit one more student? Now I'm asking the professor if I can still get in because if not, I am forced to drop the class. Way to go MC, TLDR: Counselors are rude and terrible. While some teachers are great, most are bad. Grade posting is terrible . Class registration is a gamble and a effing mess. If taking classes for pre-reqs, don't take it here and take it at College Park, UMBC, etc. if possible. read more

GREAT community college. Three campuses (Germantown, Rockville, Takoma Park/Silver Spring). I have been attending MC for almost two years now and it's been awesome. Class sizes are reasonable, no more than 30-35 students and 35 is A LOT for a class at MC. You can get all the resources needed to pass classes, they have great tutoring centers and flexible library hours. Coursework is relatively challenging but up to par with four year schools. Can't say I've ever had a terrible, incompetent, professor however it's all up to the person. They have an array of culbs and sports to join as well as symposiums and lectures given weekly at various campuses. MC has all the aspects of a four year school with a super affordable tuition cost and excellent transfer opportunities. The only downside is that public transportation (Ride On) is unreliable at times and the cafeteria food sucks. read more

montgomery college is a rip off! i have never been to a school so money crazy. They kick you out of a class just one week in because you have not made a payment plan? i mean what will be the point of waking up early in the morning to go to a class if i planned on not getting a grade? what i am trying to say is: if students dont pay for the class, just withhold their transcripts rather than kicking them out of the class and then adding a late fee of over $150 to their bill. Talking about professionalism, there is none when dealing with anybody at MC (TAKOMA PARK). Everyone feels the need to show their authority by looking down on you. I had a problem with my registration and i went to the registrar's office for help but instead i got yelled at. For real if not that i really needed the credit for graduation i will not be putting up with MC's BS. read more

It is a good value. It isn't as adult and online friendly as they claim but otherwise they give everyone an opportunity to get an education. For the most part it's a good insitution. My nutrition, BIology Dr. Barrie, Spanish (Dr. Beach) professors were amoungst the brightest and most alturisic educators I have ever met. My worst experience was when my English professor told me I was stupid (yes, I am not exagerating). I had written an essay that she deemed was to advance for my feeble intellect (again not exagerating) and that I must have plagerized it. I ended up gettting one of the highest compentency score in the class and at the college. A math professor who normally teaches at Germantown was extremely mean to me. I asked him for help and he replied, "I guess you're a whiner". (I saved his email as proof!) At the time I was on the dean's list and received a B in his class. But a thousand other people absolutely love him! Also, do not take the biology of reproduction class online at Rockville. it is the most awful formatt and everyone in the classes hated it. ( I dropped the first class and took another one thinking it would be better, I was wrong). The Germantwon campus registration department is a mess. They forgot to send me my transcripts three times in a two year period! read more
