The staff at Redbud really know kids. - Safe, welcoming, and caring community. Our child started out quiet and soon felt completely comfortable being himself in every way. This was particularly evident in the Kinder year, which made us especially glad we stayed for that burst of confidence and imagination. He also learned to be a good helper to others. - Seemingly limitless individualized learning. Our child was able to build on his skills and interests at his own pace throughout his time there. His teachers knew exactly where he was and what he was working on. No matter how far he went with something, they somehow found a way to support him when he wanted to go farther. - Beautiful natural setting. TLC also provides extra safety measures like having cameras inside each classroom that parents can access on demand, as well as a keypad lock on the front door. My daughter started kinder this year so she is no longer attending TLC, but she still talks about her teachers and friends that she made there all the time. Usha from TLC has always shown so much love and concern for my daughter and our family. Long story: Little Star Preschool Too was my top choice from the beginning when I was touring preschools. I was delighted to see the campus (plenty of parking spots, quiet neighborhood, residential location and close to restaurants for afterschool pick up)! The preschool is large and has a huge yard for the children to play in during "recess" and at the end of the day. I think the actual amount of land they have for a school is impressive as the children are able to get their wiggles out without having to travel to a local park. While I was dazzled by the tour of the campus, I was absolutely amazed by the teachers and staff! They are all genuinely loving and greatly care about the well-being of the children! I am always greeted with a smile by each of the staff members during drop off. My child has so much fun playing with her peers and the large variety of toys, doing daily arts and crafts, eating their provided lunch and learning new subjects! She took a little bit of time to warm up to being in school and her teacher was so patient with her, spending extra time with her to help her transition. Other teachers and staff would step in to help out too if her teacher was not immediately available for help. Not only does the school teach "regular subjects" like letter recognition and counting, they also teach real life skills like what streetlights and stop signs are used for! (The school had a cute field trip around the neighborhood teaching the children about road safety). There are also a lot of extra features added to the curriculum to help enrich the children's education. They allowed him time to adjust and let him just observe at first, as he preferred, while holding onto his stuffy. His language skills have really exploded (I love hearing him repeat, "Wake up, little bodies!") and I know he's cared for while learning and playing.

As a result, we were in the dark about when & where the classes were held until I called a month before the classes began. They said an email will be generated the closer we got to the date. Again, we didn't get an email and we showed up at the Davis office on the day it should start and no one was there! After calling around for 30 mins I finally contacted someone in their Berkeley office to tell me it was canceled due to low enrollment. What? Thanks for telling me. We checked my son's call history and they did call once but left no vm. Also, I as the parent didn't get a call nor an email. For their credit (reason they got a one star), they were apologetic and tried to offer us tutoring instead but I'm not confident in their company enough to try them again. My recommendation: stay away. Unless they turn things around and become more consistent & reliable, you are taking a chance. I checked their reviews at their Berkeley office and several other parents had the same issues.
