my husband and I just had the most perfect cooking experience with Mauro at the Montese cooking school in San Gimignano. such fun, and the food was the best I had in Italy so far! of course we helped to make it. Mauro was charming and great fun. would recommend this class to everyone. Great day!

The Montese Cooking Experience was the highlight of our 3 weeks in Italy!!! The setting is beautiful, we were outside in the covered shade looking out at the prettiest landscape amongst a vineyard. Chef Mauro was smiling the entire class and made sure everyone was included. We laughed, drank wine, prepped lunch and ate together! If you can get in BOOK IT!!!

True concept of "down home cooking."

The Cooking Course that hits the core of "Home Cooking.." If you have seen that scene from Ratatouille when the Food Reviewer flashed back to his childhood and his mom making a "true home cooked meal"? Chef Mammo and Chef Alberto has not only recreated that experience but hit at the core as to why we love cooking. . . It's worth the effort. Trust me.

In one word, this cooking experience was truly amazing. The best thing we did the whole trip!! Mauro and his helpers were so funny, friendly, and welcoming! They made sure we had lots of fun.. and lots of wine! During the class we made handmade bread (white and whole wheat), pasta dough for linguine noodles and spinach and ricotta raviolis, and bolognese meat ragu sauce. We also made tiny little tiramisu in shot glasses. The food came out amazing and we had the best time ever making it. We learned some great techniques; some that my boyfriend and I have since used multiple times at home to recreate the dishes and try new recipes! The class felt less like we were taking a class and more like we were cooking with long-time friends at their gorgeous Italian villa. We left feeling like had made new genuine friends there in San Gimignano! 10/10 I recommend signing up for a class during your trip to Italy! Oh! and he sends you copies of all the recipes (plus some extras) afterwards!

Our day with Mauro at Montese Cooking Experience was the best day we had during our trip to Italy. A group of five of us took the homemade pasta class in late November. We made two kinds of pasta and sauce, two kinds of bread and a delicious tiramisu for dessert. Even though it was late in the year, it was a gorgeous day so we were able to cook outside and take in the view of rolling hills and beautiful countryside while we cooked. We spent most of the day in the class and finished late in the afternoon with a delicious meal and glass of wine. Mauro was a wonderful host and teacher. He walked us through each step but also joked around with us and felt like part of the family. If you are planning a trip to Tuscany, this cooking class is a must!

We made an amazing meal in her lovely kitchen studio with only the freshest ingredients. Giulia and Tommaso were so welcoming and the whole experience felt relaxed and personalized. We not only learned to make a beautiful Italian meal, but we learned about the source of our ingredients and traditional Italian cooking. Would highly recommend this class!

I had the pleasure of recently trying one of her cooking classes. We started at the vibrant market in her home town, picking vegetables after sipping a cappuccino meet & greet in the center. Giulia decides what she will make depending on what is seasonally available, and she caters to vegetarians, gluten-free allergies and anything, just ask! We headed to her charming house, a bit like its own private borgo, and commenced our adventure in Tuscan cooking. I have done my fair share of classes in Italy, as a travel writer, but this one stood out because of her. She is kind, warm, patient and really strives to share her love for local food and help you make it your own. Because it was quite hot, we grilled eggplant, made salads and panzanella and a beautiful fried chickpea dish that I am still drooling over. Dessert was zuppa inglese, which all of the class participants got to personalize. We shared our meal on the long, living room table, set beautifully (her house is impeccable) over wine, water and conversation. Giulia is also an accomplished food blogger and writer and I use her site like a personal Tuscan bible. I could not think of a better cooking experience.

Arianna & Friends - We made a friend, us and Luca!

When my significant other told me we were going on a bus tour, I pictured a slow, simple, and quite…read morerelaxing ride through the Tuscan countryside -- maybe some wine, some photos, and lots of air-conditioned comfort....... Something I've done before, the standard issue bus ride. You can imagine my surprise, and moreso, confusion, when we arrived to find Luca, our friendly tour guide, peeking around the corner greeting us with a very excitable, "Are you ready for your Vespa tour?!?" My eyes immediately widened. Did I hear him correctly? Was something lost in translation? I paused to process.....instinctively went outside for some fresh air.....and came back in after momentarily catching my breath. Still visibly choked-up, I struggled to speak during my waterfall of emotions......."Who's cutting onions in here?" This had all hit me, fast, all at once. I was beyond moved and thoroughly excited. Now, I've been riding for nearly 34 years -- from dirt bikes to adventure bikes to the high-speed track, and as an instructor -- but this experience was something entirely different. What started as a "bus tour" magically transformed (with a twist of the wrist) into one of, if not, the most profound and unforgettable rides of my life. The awesome team at Arianna & Friends made everything seamless, and our private guide, Luca, was nothing short of exceptional -- professional, kind, and deeply passionate about sharing the hidden beauty of his piece of Tuscany. He led us through rolling hills, olive groves, and charming villages, while stopping at breathtaking viewpoints that perfectly captured the magic of the region. This was our ride, Luca included, not just mine. Even with all my years on two wheels, this day reminded me why I fell in love with riding in the first place -- the freedom, the connection, and the pure joy of the open road. I have seriously struggled to find the words (strong enough) to thank Arianna & Friends, Luca, and my significant other, for turning a "bus tour" into a bucket list experience checked off in the most meaningful way. This adventure was exhilarating, enriching for the soul, and unforgettable..... I found peace. Andiamo!

The five hour hands on 4-course food preparation session was the best and most rewarding experience of our trip to Italy. Massimo was an excellent guide and teacher. We were impressed by his vast knowledge of subjects which he presented in an interesting way. Silvia the cook was patient and supportive. Her warm, sweet personality showed through language barrier. We really had fun learning to cook and appreciate Italian food and wine.
