Our family of 4 absolutely loved everything about this cooking class. We picked vegetables and herbs in Giulia's garden. We made an amazing meal in her lovely kitchen studio with only the freshest ingredients. Giulia and Tommaso were so welcoming and the whole experience felt relaxed and personalized. We not only learned to make a beautiful Italian meal, but we learned about the source of our ingredients and traditional Italian cooking. Would highly recommend this class! read more

Life is too short to eat bad food, and even worse to make it. Thanks to Giulia, no hope of that will happen (hopefully) in the future. I had the pleasure of recently trying one of her cooking classes. We started at the vibrant market in her home town, picking vegetables after sipping a cappuccino meet & greet in the center. Giulia decides what she will make depending on what is seasonally available, and she caters to vegetarians, gluten-free allergies and anything, just ask! We headed to her charming house, a bit like its own private borgo, and commenced our adventure in Tuscan cooking. I have done my fair share of classes in Italy, as a travel writer, but this one stood out because of her. She is kind, warm, patient and really strives to share her love for local food and help you make it your own. Because it was quite hot, we grilled eggplant, made salads and panzanella and a beautiful fried chickpea dish that I am still drooling over. Dessert was zuppa inglese, which all of the class participants got to personalize. We shared our meal on the long, living room table, set beautifully (her house is impeccable) over wine, water and conversation. Giulia is also an accomplished food blogger and writer and I use her site like a personal Tuscan bible. I could not think of a better cooking experience. read more

History
Established in 2012.
In February 2009 I opened my blog, Juls' Kitchen, in order to give a voice to this passion. Then I learnt to express it through words and images. Now Juls' Kitchen is a diary of my life in Tuscany as seen through my experiences with food. In January 2012 I turned my passion into a job: now I am a freelance food writer. I develop recipes for magazines and companies and I am a Tuscan cooking class instructor for foreigners and Italians. In other words, I cook every day, I take photos when there's enough light, I write too much and I eat with pleasure. I have fun and enjoy every single moment, cherishing every day.
Meet the Business Owner: Giulia S.
My name is Giulia Scarpaleggia, I am an optimist, a dreamer, a full-time food blogger. I am the one who appears in the reflections of the spoons in this blog's photos and - I have to admit it - I am also responsible for the missing slices in each cake. I live in Tuscany, in the countryside between Siena and Florence, I dream of a blooming vegetable garden, though I am content with a brick wall crammed with pots of fresh herbs and a rhubarb plant that suffers from the heat. I wanted to be an architect and a forester. Then I took a Master's of Science in Communication. I dreamt to be like Melanie Griffith in Working Girl, but after six years as an employee and event organizer I eventually understood that it was not my cup of tea. It has been hard to find my place in the world, but eventually I discovered what I was meant to be and what makes me happy. Looking back, there was a constant in my life: a passion for food and cooking since I was a little girl.

Juls' Kitchen cooking class should be on your list if you truly want to experience the real Tuscany. What better way to do it than to travel through the Sienna countryside and arrive in a traditional villa built by the hosts forefathers set in a beautiful landscape. You don't have to know how to cook, Giulia is patient and adjust the course to you. No stress, just enjoyment and experience. A once in a lifetime experience in my opinion. She also offers to got to the market with you, to truly experience what it feels like to live remotely in Tuscany, and the town where the market is, is also a must see. Ask her also for advise on where to go, she knows the best spots. A wonderful afternoon you will never forget. read more
